They say you can't teach an old Dawg new tricks. Not our Dawg. He has learned a new trick. After the prostitute he hired stole his Rolex up her coochie, now when he hires a hooker he specifically requests the chicks with dicks model. He's NOT going to fall for THAT trick again.


And then there is this Canadian cat, Soxfan. With his broad on his arm and cake in his pocket he grinds baccarat for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. But he is smart and spreads his play around between several casinos. He has been doing this for 16 years, which a little simple math puts him at over 8 million. Just like Dawg, the casinos love this "cat". And if you don't believe him, just pony up a little cake and he will prove it to you. :cool:

A lot of cake in this cat's stories. He might be the reason all the local casinos shut down their buffets. Too much cake has gone missing.

I blame it on the rise of advantage players and internet forums.

Every generation has had a segment of the population that liked to gamble. Hopefully for enjoyment and entertainment proposes. My grandfathers generation it was horse racing. If you were to ask any of these guys and I did with my grandfather, few admitted they lost longterm. It was always about even.

And then 25-30 ago, casino began to open everywhere. Almost every state. Most people now have a casino within an hours drive, often several. So casino gambling, slots, craps, roulette, blackjack gambling for entertainment and fun sort of replaced horse racing for most of that generation.

At the same time, along comes the internet and gambling forums. And there are people on these forums that have founds ways to win (long-term). Some even as a means to support themselves. And all of the sudden the people that gamble and lose recreationally, no longer feel good about it. A few do, like MrV, the late Alan, Dan Lubin will argue they just enjoy the gambling, which is more than fine. But many others I think feel bad that they lose money when there are real people on these forums that are making money. So they start to invent stories of there own winning. But what is absent in these stories in any kind of application of something mathematical that would give them an edge. And that becomes apparent very quickly to most real players, AP and recreational gamblers.

Now anyone of these people COULD play with an advantage if they wanted to. We all understand the math. But they chose not to and feeling bad that they lose, just come up with these stories. And when real players don't believe them due to lack of math, they always get nasty about it.

Then there were bettors like my grandfather, a guy who loved horses and predicting races.

By report, he'd pour over handicapping data til he found ONE horse in ONE race that interested him.

He then went to the track and made ONE bet on that horse in that race.

How well he actually did is anyone's guess, but family lore says he won more than he lost.

Dunno, but it gave him a hobby which interested him and he stayed out of trouble doing it.

My style is the bets-flat proposition and my wagers size is one blacks chip. My average nets profits per shoe is 1.26 unit. As far as variance is concerned, my worst case draws-down situation has been -77 unit buckin up against so far 10,000+ shoe. But, my lifes-time bankroll is 250 unit so figure my ruined risk% is effectively zero, hey hey.

The reason I thought she may have been thinking of Bosox was because after Bosox's wife had passed, his demeanor changed (understandably to an extent) - also I had assumed (incorrectly perhaps) the context was within the VCT forum only.
