Atlantic City Today

I know, I know....while most of you continue on with your pretending tasha is intelligent enough to understand your sarcasm, and while the same bunch keep trying to out-clever each other with humor dryer than a Jimmie Kimmel monolog, let's wet your whistles a bit.

Yesterday I received an offer from a place I've never heard of in AC: Ocean Casino Resort. This offer includes 3 nights in some kind of ocean-view suite, $500 in FP, and $300 in resort dollars (which right now I assume are food/bar/spa/cabana dollars).

After some research I see that this is the remake of the old Revel, and the new owners have dumped over $100mil into making it attractive to higher end clients, especially from NYC & Philly.

Why or how did I get this invite? No idea, but I know word on players gets around pretty quickly these days, and I've been playing heavily at Atlantis and Peppermill the past nearly 2 mos.

Because of this offer as well as some other personal business that popped up recently in New England, even though we drove to Maine and back in the spring, we're gonna do it again in late August.

Now I know that trying to get real info on anything that doesn't include sitting in your underwear at the computer, from the motley go-nowhere/do-nothing crew around here is as rare as Lizzo promising to lose 150 pounds, but has anyone been to this place post-Revel?

Nah, never been to Revel or Ocean Casino resort, but as for Maine...have you perchance visited the NH lakes region?

It really is quite beautiful with the hills / mtns surrounding the lakes.

Avoid the "charity casino" near Lake Winnipesaukee in Belmont,NH: ugh.

Being from W. Mass. and in colleges in Boston for 7 years, I've been to/camped in/and hiked in the NH Mountains multiple times. And it IS a beautiful area.

I'm not surprised this retard knows nothing of Ocean since he's not an AP. Even the simplest of the simple APs have abused them.

Had to unblock to see this thread. Only did so because Atlantic City still interests me after all these. year. It is where I got my start.

So the Revel, which is now this Ocean Casino resort, was build sideways. So all rooms and suites look either north or south. Looking north used to look out at a run down area of AC and looking south directly into what was then Showboat Casino and Trump Taj Mahal. By doing it this way ALL rooms and windows have a view of the ocean. It isn't looking directly out at the ocean, but rather sort of a 90 degree angle,. You can see the Ocean, hence they can say "ocean view". ;)

Now to why I really wanted to post here. Why would a resort who by all accounts is not doing to well, make such an offer to someone they have no association with? Do you think ANY winning players, that would be players with a long-term track record of winning received this offer? Or do you think it was targeting known losing type players? :rolleyes:

Either they paid for a list of such players, or possible some employee transferred in that had access to a list of some losing players. But you can be sure they are targeting losing players. No surprise Rob Singer, or whatever his name is was right there on that list of losing players. I wonder if Dawg got the same offer. :rolleyes:

Apparently not too uncommon for robberies to happen right on casino floors. And many credit thieves around.

Peppermill & Atlantis fortunately are very safe but when in AC you just want to stay vigilant especially when you have a lot of cash on you or a lot of credits in the machine.

Anyone else remember from a couple years back the wanted pictures of that young salt & pepper couple that were actually robbing high rollers right in the casinos in AC? Could never find any follow up that they ever caught them.

Of course for an old military intelligence guy probably won’t be any concern for you lol.

My late partner described entering AC in the 80-90's and it was very different than the time I was there from 2004-2009.

the expressway end 6 blocks or so from the casinos. He describes at that time there was Ghetto housing projects on both sides of the expressway where it ended.

Now during my time, there was no Ghetto housing projects there. They had been torn down and people moved to projects out towards the bay area (Borgata). And there was a nice outlet shops area where the projects used to be. And also, a new train station. So the first thing you saw wasn't the housing projects. And it was fairly safe. You could walk from the train, through the outlet area, to the casinos without too much concern. I mean it isn't the emerald city. there was some riftraft and homeless around. It is a city...you have to be careful.



Of course I am 15 years removed from that now, and think I was back only once. I don't know what it may be like now.

During the time I lived in Philly, (2000-2009), they had attempted to fix up areas of Camden and had some success. particularly the river water front area, where the battleship is docked. there is a nice Aquarium there, a minor league ball park, a concert venue that draws some fairly big names that you are familiar with, A number of upscale expensive high rise condo and a ferry that took people back and forth between Philly river front and Camden River front. It was nice.

I used to spend a lot of time there in summers. I used to ride my bike at least once a week over the Ben Franklin Bridge and along the river front attractions, eat lunch, and catch the ferry back to Philly.

Now there was still some pretty shady areas of Camden as well. Again, 15 years ago, so I have no idea what it may be like now.

Hard Rock and Ocean do a good job keeping the homeless and overt criminals out of the casino. A lot better than Taj did where there was a nonzero chance of getting shanked if you went into the wrong bathroom. It's not a 5 star resort town but it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be if you stay on the boardwalk.

Caesars and Ballys are shitholes.

I've been to Ocean a few times. I think it's the nicest property in AC, similar design vibe to Fountainbleau LV.

They've made some changes to the property's venues, (restaurants, bars, sportsbook) but nothing substantial enough to call it a remake...it's Revel with a different name. But that's not a bad thing.

Borgata is the beast in AC, it's revenues are nearly double that of tied-for-second place Hard Rock & Ocean, so Ocean is doing OK I guess. But Borgata is built out in the swamp, Ocean is on the beach. I'm an avid ocean swimmer and fisherman, so the views, the blues, and the waves always get my vote.

The AC Boardwalk and surrounding downtown area gets a bad rap, but Ocean is on the remote northern end of the boards, so it's somewhat isolated from the riff-raff around mid-boardwalk Bally's and Caesars.

The neighborhood around Ocean is benign, featuring a new "luxury" high-density residential project, but most of the area surrounding Ocean is undeveloped vacant land. They removed most of the residential structures found in that area years ago, with redevelopment plans that have not yet fully come to fruition.

No, honestly, I am not seeing most of what these guys post now. There comes a point where, you decide why am I responding to these people. It really is equivalent to responding to crazy homeless people on the street. They make no fucking sense and responding to them makes no sense.

I read this thread for one reason only, the title because it was about Atlantic City, that I still have interest in. I thought there might be something interesting to me in the post. But it was just more of the guy that Posts as Rob Singer trying to convince everyone that he is something special because he received this offer. And he is too stupid to realize that him getting this offer (which targeted losing players) proved just the opposite.

The property mentioned is of interest to me because during my time in AC, it was half built and construction had stopped (much like F-Bleu here in Vegas for many years). Spending a lot of time at the North end of the boardwalk at Taj and Showboat, I walked by the fenced off "Revel" so often, wondering what it would be like if ever completely. I eventually got back to see it once and as usual in these situations was somewhat disappointed. Maybe as Ocean resort, it has been upgraded to the point that I would now be impressed, but I have no plans to get back to AC anytime soon.

I lived a few towns east of Camden 55 years ago; haven't returned for about 50 years, but I "keep track" by periodically viewing youtube videos about Camden just to remind myself how bad things can get.

Yes, it seems there are "bright spots" in Camden now, e.g. aquarium, but most of the city is ghetto with a very high crime rate.

It's been about that long since I went to AC but from what I've read the area away from the casinos is still mostly depressed and blighted.

Then again, LV has shitty areas as well, just not quite as many / not as all pervasive.

I wouldn't be afraid to gamble in AC but I'd stay close to the casino and not go wandering far off after dark.

All cities of any decent size have these areas. And Vegas has it's share. More than tourists that only visit the strip think. :rolleyes: And some of the "shitty" areas are not that far from the strip. Just 3 blocks east of the strip behind Harrah, Venetian, Palazzo is a drug/crime infested ghetto area. And that is only 2 blocks east of the new sphere concert venue. If someone comes out of a show and turns the wrong way they are in bad area in a block or two.

well, this is key. When I was younger, I used to walk through some rough areas in both Philly and Atlantic City after dark. Never thought much of it. But as you get a little older you realize there really is no reason to do that kind of thing. It is not about being afraid or anything, just why do that? :confused:
