The temperature of the earth is determined by factors which influence the earth's distance from the sun.

At the risk of un-hijacking this thread back to the topic of the WoV forum. It looks like 108 members visited yesterday. 5, 6, 7 years ago that number was 300 most days, maybe 280 on weekends. By my elementary math, that is at least a 60% decline, which just happened to coincide with the forum moving away from math based discussion towards discussion and claims of long proven losing systems, and things like "quitting while a head" and one long running fantasy adventure of a guy that just wins (Just win baby!), with no reasonable explanation of how he overcomes negative expectation.

And while I and others put the blame on the guy that started, runs and is the face of that forum, Wizard, it occurs to me that this all may come from higher up and by design. Remember the forum is now owned by an online gambling company wanting to draw more players to their casinos. So who do they want on their forum, advantage players talking about how to really win long-term, or members talking about long proven losing betting systems, and "quitting while a head", and just flat out fantasy claims of the winning adventures that defy math?

How about the fact that math discussions on gaming forums are getting monotonous because they have run their course.

Most people on these forums have another much more important real life, and they don't NEED these things. It's not the community's problem that you've chosen to make this the penultimate portion of your life, and what you expect/demand out of forums. You make up a LOT of shit--both about yourself and anyone like myself who calls you out on it, MDawg whom you are extremely jealous of because he claims to win in the face of math (it happens) and others. So you yourself are probably more guilty than anybody else of eroding what you dream the discussions should be about.

If you had anything other than gambling in your life this wouldn't worry you. But because you are such a gambling addict who must talk about it when not in casinos, you've placed your own curse on yourself.

Shrug. If you don't want to hear the truth then that is fine. This "conspiracy" has been talked/written/studies for decades now. It is not some liberal thing. It is a liberal cause to RESPOND to it, but the underlying science is not particularly partisan. (Although surely many studies have a political bias) Spare me any nonsensical talking points, like how there was some minor thing about global cooling written a handful of times many decades ago. (somehow having far far more evidence for one side is immediately dismissed in this case.)

It is called cognitive dissonance.

The weather extremes will continue to worsen. Few things will be able to adapt to this, etc etc. Writing is on the walls and has been for quite some time.

Using basic implication I think one can readily argue that you are fairly close to saying that weather change is due to ice age cycle (or at least the temperature related ones?). I mean, you said so in the bolded, no?

Jesus. Watched a couple minutes of it and they are talking about a microchip in a tablet. They leave out context so I'm not even sure. Are oral vaccines a thing? I've never heard of them and they're not very common if they exist. Swallowing sensors and shit is not new sci-fi crap. (Heard about that a lot more than oral vaccines) What is the "microchip" going to do? Is it like one of those apple transponder things? lol. You guys. I didn't define anything lmao. That is just part of a discussion. If you say "this group tends to do this" then the group is already defined. It would simply be an observation of an existing group.

That being said, defining political groups is very troublesome. I'm always at a loss as whether to use Republican/rightwinger/conservative. The reason for this is that I have a decent share of rightwing views so I tend to stick with that if it is libertarian/anti-gov type views. Everything else I have to decide whether to use Republican or conservative and if it doesn't directly deal with politics they get the conservative label.

I can see why MrV likes Socratic dialogue as opposed to, say, scientific debate. Socratic dialogue is something you employ trying to find some crack or flaw somewhere in somebody's else's presentation, and then using that small crack to try to debunk the entire presentation. Pretty much what lawyers do and why a country run by lawyers winds up like we do. The end justifies the means, and the end isn't to arrive at reality but to win a high school debate or polling contest. The thing about scientific debate is that you have to know some science to participate. You actually have to put your knowledge on the line and run the risk of being exposed as knowing nothing about the subject. Not the purview of lawyers, who master nothing but the detail of argument constrained by an idiosyncratic time and place.

Lawyering is a scam.
Both sides work together to extract as much money as they can.
Exactly like our political system.
I think its something like 97% of cases never make it to trial, a jury or a judge.
Lawyers are literally taught to Settle, Settle... Settle.
They force that shit down their clients throats all day and night long.
Anyone that knows just a little bit about our judicial system knows that it is nothing but a money machine grinding up the common man.
Everyone knows it is broken beyond repair and always has been.
Bring back hanging people in the streets.
Much more effective.
The problem is that the powers that be won't make any money hanging people compared to grinding them through the system over and over and over again.
