Still having difficulty explaining why you remembered the wrong major details of the biggest hand of VP you've ever had in your life, right?
That would be like me telling you the story of the hand where I won my WSOP bracelet in 2005, and getting it completely wrong.
People don't forget major moments like that, especially within a short period of time.
Do you really need me to link the two posts where you completely contradicted yourself, within a few month period?
Not my biggest hand again, Dan, and if a hundred k is something you'll never see in your conflicted life, you have only yourself to blame. And what I held is so unimportant to me that seeing the two held Aces still doesn't mean anything because I hit them all the time. Oh wait!....I'm not a perrenial gambling loser without a wife or children like you:) So other people's successes CERTAINLY ARE memorable events for you.
You do a better job whining and whimpering about CET freebie-stiffing. And blaming innocents about not getting your bottle of Gatorade.
It's always humorous watching Singer sputter and flap in the breeze when he has been outed. As usual, his response makes no sense at all.
Hey Robbie, how's that trailer park living working out for you?
Rob you told me and you posted here that the $100,000 won at Wynn TIES your biggest win which was a $100,000 Royal. Are you now saying you had a bigger win?
Rob, I have a 4-year-old son and I'm still with the mother.
So once again you have no clue as to what you're talking about.
Let's see if you can be less evasive this time.
Here's the definition of lucky per the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "producing a good result by chance". .. a definition which is universally accepted and is the one I had in mind. I don't believe that lucky is at all ambiguous to anyone but you or has any qualifications attached to it, as in "lucky means above the expected return of the game.
Luck in gambling has no restrictions, limits, starting points or timetable nor does it play favoritism. Your game, OEJ, could have a pathetic 150/75/35 (96.02%) pay table and anyone, including you, could get lucky playing it.
So, I ask again...do you agree or disagree with this: "you have to be lucky (producing a good result by chance, which in VP, chance = whatever the RNG spits out) to win on ANY game...positive, negative, neutral ... slant top machine, upright machine, bar top....take your pick".
Hey boys! $100 Grand looks sweet in any picture! Congrats to all of you who have hit one! Great job Rob! Your strategy is tops! Did you use it while playing that game?
Yes I did and thank you. If not for my strategy, which was 5-levels, dollars thru $25, I'd have been sitting there like an AP zombie, pounding away into the night on a single game/single denomination--and losing, probably even if I hit this hand on this game.
When I see you say something like this it makes me believe you really do want to understand, learn, and use my strategy, but you either don't want to say so or you think you just wouldn't have the patience to go thru the learning process and the slower play process that requires much much more than just pounding away at the buttons as fast as you can.
We are all in the hands of the RNG for sure. What this strategy does is allow that one big win to not only wipe out all the prior losses as you worked your way towards it--it allows the player to quit a winner. Had I simply been playing a single $1 denomination and then hit this thing, I'd be lucky to have walked out with a $500 profit. Surely you see the difference. So here's where the AP's would come on, after shaking off the envy, to claim they know in the future that I'll lose at least as much as I won because the math, and not the RNG, says so. And that's as dumb as it gets, and why when I had a website, I never had to go begging for money as AP wizard had to.
I answered your question with a very specific definition of the use of "lucky". How can that be "evasive".
A couple of weeks ago I hit quad aces 5 times in one session. Was that "lucky"? I ended up losing the session overall by a good margin because those quad aces only return 75 credits on OEJs and I never hit a single wild RF which pays back 1000 credits. The odds of hitting quad aces are much lower than hitting a wild RF. So, was I "lucky" or not?
On my most recent trip I hit 5 natural straight flushes. Even though the odds of that are quite low, a natural SF doesn't pay back any more than a wild SF. Was I "lucky" or not?
I already answered the question. You have to hit above the average expectation of the game (which by definition means "good results"). The worse the game, the more you have to hit above it. Since every game has a different set of paybacks, the hands it takes to hit above the average expectation are different. So, just because you hit a particular hand may or may not translate into having a "good result". That's why I specifically tied answer to the result when discussing VP.
You were not lucky because you "ended up losing the session overall by a good margin."
And this game OEJs has what return? Isn't this the "positive" game you rave about?
After reading what you wrote how can you possibly disagree with any player who quits when ahead?
OEJs is modestly positive at 100.28%. Without a RF it only plays at 98+ % so one expects to lose lots of sessions (about 60% as it turns out). The variance is why worrying about individual sessions is beyond silly. Believing you can influence your long term result by the timing of when you cash out is the raving of a mathematically challenged mind. We all cash out at some point in time since none of us plays continually. I could care less when you chose to cash out. As always I simply point out it makes no difference over time.
AP's and the casino operate with the same theories and concepts. You establish that you have an edge in the game. You establish that you have the bankroll to cover the swings of the game. Beyond that the formula is "the recurring sum of net edge times volume equals the earn." The Singer "win goal" and "stop loss" is just pure nonsense. The casino don't win every day. They have days where certain games produce a net loss. They have days where a certain game produces a net win much larger than expection. But have you ever heard a pit boss say "Sorry, folks. We've hit our win goal for the day so we are shutting the blackjack tables down." Or "sorry folks, we've lost X amount of dollars on the craps table today so we are shutting it down for the rest of the day." When you have an edge the recurring sum of net edge times volume equals the earn and nothing Singer says will ever change that.
The casinos have the edge so they don't have to shut down. Players who don't have the edge are wise to take the money and run. Even when you are at a positive game it doesn't mean you will win -- because you are not playing as many games as the casino is playing to spread out your risk. You guys are crazy. Any of you really making any money practicing what you preach?
Well, I already explained in the post just before yours here what I'm capable of. To me a losing day is one where I only make $250 or $300. My daily average is $557. Another little tidbit, I pretty much hold the line at a 10% edge these days. A grinder I'm not. Don't ask me how I get such big edges. I won't tell you. It's my intellectual property. I once challenged Singer to come to Montana and follow me around and watch me make money. I would never make that challenge to you. You are much to smart. I could do it right in front of Singer and he wouldn't get it, but you would.
Oh, yes, one other thing-Arci and One-Eyed-Jacks. Arci is the leading expert on OEJ today. I took one look at the strategy sheet for the game and ran for the hills. No way in hell am I gonna try to learn such a complicated strategy. But kudos to Arci. He's the man on that game.
mickeycrimm not only would I follow you, but I am likely to put the whole damn thing on TV if you showed me you really could earn $557 per day in casinos.
[QUOTE=Alan Mendelson;24290]mickeycrimm not only would I follow you, but I am likely to put the whole da
Alan, I cannot make that claim in every gambling market. I will never tell you that I can do that in the Nevada market, or the Mississippi market or the New Jersey market. But from where I am now I can damn well do it. I'm in the throes of making you an offer. I believe that you are the one man in all of these gamblng forums whose creditibilty is behond reproach. I'm not going to make the offer tonight, Alan, as I have been out drinking. But the offer I'm going to make to you involves you and your wife being willing to take a Montana vacation. I'm willing to meet up with you and show you a side of gambling that you have never seeen before. I'll show you how the real thing is done, but only after you and your wife promise me that you will never expose my plays to another human being. You will be very welcome to make any comment you want to as to whether Mickey Crimm is the real thing or a dismal failure on this forum or any other. But I will hold you to secrecy on any thing I show you and you and your wife. It's an open to you and your wife. And I guarantee you that if you put in a little effort in your tour of Montana, after you get my clinic on the machines Montana, you will easily cover the cost of your tour of Montana. This offer is only open to you and no one else.
[QUOTE=mickeycrimm;24296]I was drunk when I made you this offer, Alan. But I'm a man of my word. Should you ever take a Montana vacation I will gladly meet up with you and give you a clinic on the machines. I will hold you to secrecy on the plays. But you are very welcome to make any comments in this forum or any other as to whether I am a fraud or not. I think your credibility speaks for itself and others would take your word for it.
This was done with one of the blackjack experts a couple of years ago.
The guy made his $500 for a couple of days, than had a few bad days, and never came back.
Who? I forget, it was on tv... in one eye, and out the other.
P.S. Alan, you could come here to Canada to do the same thing with any casino game you want to. Just don't tell anyone how I beat them for a FEW days! Guaranteed.
P.P.S. I'll throw an orange chip on the color of your choice. Win, and you keep all.
Clines, I don't see you as a totally bad guy. But you are definitely an ignorant chump. I will also make another promise to Alan. If he puts in a little bit of time with what I teach him, not so much time that it interferes with his Montana vacation, he will easily make enough money to cover the cost of his Montana vacation. This offer is only open to Alan. No one else need apply.
I just have one question to ask you, Clines. Is ignorance bliss?
At Caesars Palace this morning with free play money hit an $8000 royal on 7/5 Bonus. Photo coming when I return. Quit playing after converting all free play to cash.
The Wizard has kept you pent up way too long on that "coward bitches living off the Americans names" forum of his?
Maybe, Alan ought to set up a Gambler's Anonymous style thread, for the hard core ones to vent themselves?
Mr V, for one, could do with a little.
Ah yes....Montana--the great "You've Got The Edge!" state!! Every famous 10%er AP ends up there, don'tcha know. Now if they only could lessen the alcohol content in them there Moose Drools.....
Mickey, here's some advice. There are no other forums like Wizard's, where a bunch of self-absorbed, self-proclaimed AP theorists talk a big game from the safety & anonymity of behind their computers. Eventually, even the wizard was forced to panhandle to keep his life going. These people cannot pay bills on theory, and they can't make up believable stories about scooping up $600 bucks a day in the glorious casinos of Montana. This is not 1845. And even back then people actually DID things instead of talked about theoretical situations, because in the end, just like when you guzzle the beer, it's all about what actually happened and not about what theory SAYS should happen. Don't let all those anti-establishment homos and mensa fools at wizard's take the reality out of your life. Get a grip please, and wise up.
Alan, that's a good hit. But just IMAGINE how much better it would have been on a 100.01% game!
We're on the Northern Oregon Coast and we're leaving for Minn. in a few weeks. Going thru N. Dakota and Montana. Where should I be stopping to p/u this $600/day? :)
In order to pick up the $600 a day you have to be able to use your head for something besides a hat rack. So that excludes you, Robbie boy. You are too stupid to do it. How about you walk before you crawl, clown. Maybe this time through Montana you might stop and take a look at the machines. But I can guarantee, little Robbie, that without me holding your hand and guiding you through you won't be able to find a damn thing. You don't have the brainpower.
This is going to be hysterical. Robbie is coming through Montana. Okay, here are the manufacturers of the machines:
IGT
Spilo
Summit
Grand Vision
Fleetwood
There are about a dozen games I exploit. Let's see if Robbie boy can name even one of them. I guarantee you he is too dumb to name even one of them. So let's go, Robbie boy. Here's your big chance to expose my plays.
You get really lucky on your free play, Alan.
I'm not doubting your story, btw, as I've never known you to tell tall tales (unlike Rob).
I ran $500 in freeplay on the same day as you, and I bricked most hands, walking away with $225.
BTW I'm curious why you don't run your freeplay on the better paytable machines in the high limit room. Sure, you lose tier points, but if you're only running freeplay, it doesn't matter much.
One of the mind-bendingly addictive properties of video poker is that Alan's free play results are now expunged. The machine has no memory of his $2 royal and Alan could hit royals on every single hand he plays for the rest of his life.
This is why losing sessions really suck because the machines have no memory of those, either..
Congrats on your latest hit, Mr. Midas Touch Alan!
...And, also hoping Dan hits that first royal soon so he can experience first-hand why we enjoy playing VP...
I did a little better on my $450 freeplay today, turning it into $675.
I'm no Alan Mendelson, but it wasn't bad.
Dan will never experience any joy playing vp. He only knows how to whine and whimper about how "poorly" he's treated by casinos. Hitting a royal will not do it for him because of the huge amounts he's already lost as an "AP". Kinda fitting that he's a loser before even getting started.
Keep drinking and smoking Mickey. The white trash anthem :)
Rob,
you have to realize that Dan's goals are not really winning oriented. Sure he wants to win cash. But his main goal is to rack up points and then milk Caesars out of thousands in comps. His entire strategy is to nickel and dime the casinos out of as much as he can. AND YES I UNDERSTAND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE CASINOS ARE TRYING TO DO AS WELL. But the way he goes on and on about every fucking penny gets real old..... real fast.
Dan... $2 was what I was playing. Only 7/5 is available. To play 8/5 the minimum is $5 which was not in my budget. I am willing to post a photo of the W2G.
It's royal #9 of the year.
I had a total of $1400 free play. As discussed before I have no interest in using any of my own money to play the rest of this year so I played $1 VP and then switched to $2 VP after hitting a few quads including 2222 on 7/5 Bonus.
$5 VP would not last with only $1400 free play.
You just described, perfectly, what every AP goes thru. The only addition I would make is this is precisely how they all claim to have winning years, every year. They self-value all the comps and gifts and junk they nickel & dime the casinos for in the form of slot club fluff, then they pound their chests on the various vp forums. And people like Dancer and Scott further use this method as a prop to sell their products and services.
You also hit the nail on the head about Dan griping and grinding on every penny. To him it's ultra-important because of the losses he's absorbed; to everyone else it's boring and annoying. There's times I feel like sending him a cut of that $100,000 winner he can't stomach, just to see if it'll shut him up over being out-foxed by CET clerks!
I picked up $500 free play Sunday night and hit a $4000 royal holding two cards. Sent photo to Dan who met me at Nobu earlier where he got a photo of the $8000 W2G.
That's royals #9 and #10 on this trip in less than 24 hours. When I played off the second royal I was dealt KKKK.
Man 'O Man 'O Man...
When it rains, it pours!
The second royal and the dealt quads are now expunged with no memory as well:

Amazing Alan, simply amazing. Congrats again!
Big win trip report:
A lot of really good stuff happened this weekend at the Seven Stars Signature event at Caesars. I got to meet fellow board member Dan Druff for the first time, as well as his girlfriend and son. A handsome group. See the photo of Dan and me at Nobu. Gwen and I were finishing dinner when Dan arrived for their reservation.
I showed Dan not only the photo of the $8,000 royal but also the W2G and he also photographed the W2G. See the photo with personal identification blocked out.
After dinner Gwen and I went to the cage to pick up the $500 of extra free play that I won -- we found out about that free play before dinner when we went to the Total Rewards desk to check up on comps, reward credits, promotions, etc. As we were walking away from the TR desk, the representative asked, "should I check to see if you won a drawing?" I replied, "no, I didn't put my entry in at Brooklyn Bowl." And she said "maybe the other drawing?" To which I replied "what other drawing?"
Then she takes out a long print out with more than 100 names and there I was -- for $500 of free play.
My total free play for the trip was $500 for the Seven Stars Experience, plus $900 for the October High Roller promotion (yes, we went on the High Roller and it was actually enjoyable), plus the surprise $500 free play for a total of $1900. I thought about converting some reward credits to free play but there was no need!
After dinner at Nobu and meeting Dan, we went to a $10 craps table and actually won a little money. (Watch out -- Gwen is a very lucky shooter!!) And then to the cage for the surprise $500 of free play and then to video poker machine for that $4,000 royal followed by quad kings. See the photo.
Gwen also got lucky at video poker hitting some nice quads at 7/5 Bonus including 2222 for $200 and she had a profit of about $900 on the trip.
We also enjoyed Shania's show and hiked around Red Rock -- because my plan for this trip was ONLY to use free play and not take a dime out of my own pocket. And because I got lucky that's what happened and finished the trip up about $11,300 because I did play a little more VP after the second royal.
I just saw this. At what denomination were you playing? In another post you asked me why I was playing 7/5 Bonus when 8/5 was available. As I explained, to play 8/5 I would have to play at the $5 denomination... but I limited myself to $1 and $2 games because I limited my play only to free play.
With that said... if you played your $500 of free play to $5 8/5 Bonus you were lucky to get what you did. I've gone through $500 on 8/5 Bonus (20 hands) and not even hit a paying pair.
With $500 of free play you should have been playing as low a denomination as possible even if it was 7/5 Bonus.... and not the coveted full pay 8/5 Bonus.
Alan, are we posting tax forms now with the jackpot pictures? Or why did you put it here? Did Dan strongarm you into doing it? He's such a brute!
You did what was reasonable--he doesn't seem the type that approaches anything, esp. his vp play, in that manner. For instance, here he is criticizing you for playing a game that pays FIVE CREDITS LESS FOR A FH THAN THE "FULL-PAY" VERSION" after an $8k royal, and he still hasn't realized that 9/6 JoB will never get him anywhere unless he hits a royal. As I've always said to those that come to me for advice, some people have the aptitude to play vp intelligently; others do not.... and they should not be playing it. Ever.
I posted the tax form because there were doubts expressed about my being lucky. I WILL POST ALL W2G FORMS for all royals on request.
Alan,
There were never any doubts about your wins. You truly are a degenerate!! The questions were always about how you embellish the truth and make yourself out to be the best VP player on the planet. I have always had about five or six questions for you but unfortunately I don't have the time to hash them out now. I will however begin with #1 as a real softball question. (and btw I used to watch you on CBS all the time as a kid! Loved ya!!)
#1. (softball lobbed right in there for you. In little league we used to call these confidence builders).
When your son Jason "won" the poker tournament at Hollywood Park why did you say that he won? When in fact you could have said that he came in 5th? And please give me a little credit as to my knowledge of poker. I understand EXACTLY what a chop means. But the fact that you embellished the win leads to many more questions. Most people would have said that they chopped the tourney. Am I not correct? And YES ONCE AGAIN i understand that it may be a father's exuberance. But that leads to your constant embellishment.
For the record, I never doubed Alan's 10 royals. Alan has never lied out here to my knowledge. He's not like Rob "Mr. 100k" Singer in that respect.
Dante Jason was the big stack when they chopped. He got the title, the bracelet and the photo and credit in Card Player Magazine. I provided the link. Stuff it.
This is actually VERY common in smaller buyin tournaments. This is because the structure of the tournament isn't good enough to allow for much skill-based play in the late stages (due to the huge blinds), and it just becomes a card-catching luckfest at that point. For this reason, the players often tend to take the luck out of the equation, and agree to a chop when there's 3-7 people left.
If Jason was the big stack when they chopped, indeed he has the right to say he "won", even if the tournament didn't play to full completion.
Now... there was an incident in 2006 where Liz Lieu "bought" 1st place: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=16307
Notice she got paid $40k for first, and the guy in 2nd got $52k! How was that possible? She was looking to get poker sponsorships, but hadn't won any tournaments yet, as she was more a cash player. When it got down to the final 2, she offered the other guy to take 1st place money if she could be declared the winner, even though he had 60% of the chips on the table! He agreed, and the tournament was ended.
You will notice I finished 7th in that tournament, which is why I paid attention to the whole thing. I publicly called Liz out about this, and she was furious about it. I didn't care, though, as she had always treated me poorly at the Commerce cash games, so it didn't matter what she thought of me. It just bothered me that the "winner" at my final table bought her title instead of winning it.
You have shown time and again that you get irritated by other people winning. Again, probably not how you want it to be but alas, it is. I'd love to play you like a fiddle in live poker. You're easier to read than the list of free ingredients that go into a sandwich at Subway.
https://www.google.com/search?q=vide...sm=93&ie=UTF-8
Why doesn't Alan put together a good VP quiz, reworked from links such as the above?
How about Alan puts together a heads-up poker game between Rob Singer and Dan Druff?
After all...the gauntlet has been thrown down by both competitors.
This would be a good idea. And it would give me a chance to collect the lunch/dinner that Rob owes me over the stock market bet.
Chances of it happening? Well, I would put those odds about the same as finding the magical video poker machine print outs in the storage unit in New Mexico (or wherever it was).
Besides that, Rob does not play live poker. I don't think he even knows how. I think he might think a "player in the blind" needs someone to whisper in his ear what the cards are.
How about in Rob's RV?? Jason could be the dealer. He is a licensed dealer and was a part time dealer at Hollywood Park Casino.
You already know I'm in Oregon right now and headed for Minn., so how about meeting me up there. And what in the world is "Commerce"?.
I don't expect much from you Todd, except that you're a shoe-in to drag along that one-parent son and some "girlfriend" of a forty-something along with you again. What do you guys call them when you're in your 80's anyway?:)
I notice you stayed away from the financial end. Why's that? Oh yes, since you'll never be able to make 7-Stars again or even diamond, it's not a good idea to talk smack along with money simultaneously.
So set it up properly this time.....or am I just another of those who seem to be "doing you wrong" again?
Commerce is the biggest poker casino in the world, and has more seats and tables in action than any other casino -- anywhere -- including Vegas.
This challenge will never happen. Rob can't play poker.
I know a lot about poker, and I'm a decent player. I will tell you this: in the short term anything can happen. Which means a no-nothing player can win.
When Jason won that tournament at Hollywood Park, the girl he was dating showed up and also played in the tournament. She had NEVER played poker before -- and never was in a tournament. She did, however, play video poker so she understood the value of hands, etc. She had no idea how to bet or how the game Texas Hold'em was played but she caught on quickly. She finished 33rd in the tournament. 137 players entered the tournament. That meant she outlasted 104 others who probably not only knew how to play, but played in many tournaments and may have played poker for years and years.
So Count Room if you are asking me to bet against Rob in one session of poker play I will tell you this: it would have to be for a small, token bet, such as double or nothing on that lunch/dinner he owes me. But if the bet covered years and dozens of sessions of play then yes, I would take any bet against me or Dan.
Alan: Yes, I thoroughly understand the short-term luck vs. long-term skill argument you are trying to convey, but I didn't quite mean what you think.
I saw a possible scenario where Rob could create a freeroll for himself by wagering against you that he would participate in the challenge against Dan (since you said it would never happen).
If Rob privately bet $10,000 against you that he would participate and $8,000 against Dan that he would win the challenge....on the stipulation that the amounts were kept private from each other, it would be win-win for Rob there, wouldn't it? (at least 2 grand)
This is actually hilarious how first you brag about your poker skill, and then you ask, "What in the world is Commerce?"
That's like straight out of a sitcom.
I'm also not understanding your attempts at insulting the situation with my girlfriend and son. The mother of my son is my girlfriend. We have been together for over 5 years. The only difference between us and a married couple is that we haven't gone through a formal marriage ceremony. Maybe a relationship is only valid to Rob if you are married and constantly drag your wife around the country on a casino tour in a trailer.
Yeah Dan, blah blah blah about your non-family situation. Middle-aged losers like you will say anything to feel good about this.
I don't regularly play live poker but I KNOW I can make you squirm in your chair, whining about some misjustice while you give away your hands without realizing any of it.
The casinos should be thrilled that I won't be back in Nevada until May or June. Can you imagine that?--actually having a life that isn't controlled by casino trips and visits while pretending the "girlfriend" likes everything you do for entertainment?
