Although, technically, the overall annual inflation rate is right now, this month, tracking at an annual 2.4% (which is still not good), basic needs items and services track much higher (like food). The 20-some percent overall inflation number refers to total inflation from when Biden took office in 2020 (also not good, by the way). So your ability to buy has been cut by more than a fifth, and approaching a quarter, since Biden/Harris took office, and that is a bit of a mirage number because certain necessities track higher.

One could say, in fact, that this inflation is skewed to hurt the working class because luxury items haven't risen as much as necessities.

Which would explain how, overnight, the Republican Party has become the party of the working class. Also explains why Sanders is so peeved at his party.

If you are looking for a "silver lining" that isn't really, it's that items like clothes haven't risen as a group because more and more are coming from China. The items imported from China keep the perception of rising prices down somewhat. My personal sad example of misnomers is "American Tourister" luggage. Somebody verify for me, but I think American Tourister is now manufactured in China.

Countries have been buying up gold. I hope that continues. I just took a look at the spot price. It’s back under 2700. I didn’t think to check it around Election Day. Last time I checked it was close to 2800 a couple weeks ago. I own gold and could sell right now for a hefty profit.

Dollar and BTC went up, gold dropped, as a result of perceptions from the Grump win.

If you are going to post something about gold in this thread, at least get it right as to what is happening and why.

Gold dropped very little. It's expected to jump up again one sleepy Joe finally disappears like his party demanded he do.

How's the market doing? When it goes up as much as it did the day after the election, does that sound like a "Grump" move?

No one can deny the beauty of the stock market pop, hope it maintains.

But the market reached all time highs under Biden too, notwithstanding Grump's crash and gloom prognostications end of 2020.

Point being, that it doesn't really matter who is President, the American stock market is durable.
