This was a surprise.
This is so coincidental as to seem almost weird.
Last weekend it so happened that my son and I were playing Double Diamond Deluxe at Chinook Winds tribal casino in Lincoln City.
He hit triple bar, double diamond and triple bar twice, two dollar bet: $320 each.
Last night on the same machine I hit the exact same thing but with a ten dollar bet I got a $1600 hand pay.
This is a fascinating anecdote MisterV!
Thank you so much for sharing it.
It is such a good & interesting story I would like to share it with other people.
I was wondering if that was OK & if you would like credit for the story?
And also if it’s OK if I edited it a little bit to be briefer?
Something along the lines of “Two people who were related played a slot machine at different times & they both hit the same combination of symbols at one point.”
Quote:
A new Willie Nelson-themed slot machine really puts the pot in jackpot, with electronic reels featuring images of marijuana leaves and other nods to the cannabis subculture.
Las Vegas-based slot maker Everi Holdings debuted the machine featuring the pot-loving country music legend this week at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. It should hit casino floors early next year.
With recreational marijuana now legal in nine states, including Nevada, game developers figured it was high time for such a machine, which also includes images of Nelson smoking what appears to be a joint and a maximum bet of $4.20 — a number symbolic of getting high.
“We made this choice because it’s Willie Nelson and it feels true to his brand,” said Allison Pope, senior vice president of game development at Everi. “It will be something that we think our players will find a little bit funny.”
Nelson is an upfront advocate of marijuana and its legalization and has his own brand of marijuana products — Willie’s Reserve — available at select dispensaries, including in Las Vegas.
While marijuana is legal in some form in more than 30 states, it is still banned under federal law. But Pope doesn’t think the new slot machine will run into much resistance from state gaming regulators.
“We’ve got our compliance team looking at regulations,” she said. “Right now, we don’t have a lot of pushback as it goes through the gaming labs. The feedback is it shouldn’t be much of a problem.”
The Nevada Gaming Control Board doesn’t specifically prohibit marijuana references in games, though they can’t feature anything primarily targeting minors, that is obscene or is offensive based on race, religion, origin or sexual preference.
For casinos that may have reservations about the machine, the company is also making a version without the marijuana references, Pope said.
“After we place it in the market, we’ll really see what the response is,” she said. “We’re not trying to make a statement with it. We just wanted to stay true to Willie and have some fun with it.”

Hey everyone! Reading about big casino wins always gets me excited. I remember this one time playing slots online, I hit a jackpot that had me jumping off my seat! It's those moments that make gambling thrilling.
Nah...What makes hanging out at casinos "thrilling" is when you run across things that are both surprising and unexpected: like when you pick up a hooker at MGM and find out "she" is a "he."
Or you watch some idiot madly gamble away a large amount of money, only to hear them say "Fuck me, that was my last shot...time to kill myself."
"Weird scenes inside the gold mine"
You tell me...you seem to be the Math Boy.
My son only had two good hits, the same combo, the same one that I got a hand pay on.
No others.
That is weird but hey, shit happens; it was weird but not exceptional.
Now I'll tell you something truly exceptional, indeed extraordinary: believe it, or not.
Here's some Twilight Zone shit: this has to be the weirdest gambling thing I've ever experienced in or out of a casino: I've written about it before but fuck it, I'll do it again.
I can't recall if it all started with a dream or a strong premonition, but I just "knew" that I'd know when the time was right to make a certain series of bets at the craps table at Spirit Mountain casino, and that I'd get a windfall.
Now you need to know that I am a place bettor and also a PL and Come bettor with some hard ways for the boys, but I eschew the other prop bets, including midnight: I never play it.
My dream / premonition was that I would "know" when to bet a buck on midnight, that it would win, that I'd parlay and win again.
So...I went to Spirit Mtn. and played my usual game at the craps table, making no prop bets until...It was about a half hour into craps play when I just "knew" it was time to make the special play.
I did...it won...I parlayed, it won ...I walked.
It's like Alan never left us.
I don't know, but I'm going to officially petition to have my WOV ban rescinded, so I can start a thread and ask Shack to calculate the odds.
I'm guessing it's around the same as tewlj's 40 Blackjack wins in a row.
But if the players are father & son, then the odds are probably greater than MDawg's some 60 consecutive winning hands.
So Mr V's incredible story makes both of the others' stories believable, and the officialness of my petition should assure a timely answer from Mr Wizard.
V has become nuttier than me. Ha.
