STRIP SHOOTING VERY BAD

His brother who lives cross country and doesn't talk to him that often has no real idea of whether the guy wins or loses overall. Like RS said people say one thing and the reality is completely another.
The reporting has changed when it is mentioned to say it was the girlfriend's ATM card that was found in the room, but the original report from I think the sheriff in one of those press conferences was that it was her MLife Platinum card. This made me remember that I totally forgot about my Mlife status and the cards reset on Sunday.
I will find it interesting to see what comes out about the gambling.
I've personally always been very nervous in very crowded situations. If I end up in Vegas over Christmas I make sure I am out of there before NYE. When I attend events I try to get seats on the aisle near emergency exits.
I am heartbroken for the people who were hurt and whose lives were lost and their grieving friends and relatives.

So now we're gambling with our lives when we visit Las Vegas?

Has anyone ever heard of a busted gambler who took revenge by killing?

Come up with another theory.

I'm still leaning towards new terrorist convert.

I was going to say there are different setups on VP, saying something like this doesn't exist would be wrong. What you are showing certaily isn't that comon.

NOTHING. Anytime a brother/sister/neighbor/ friend of a friend/ uncle/ cousin/ guy next to you in the casino/a system player says something that has to do with gambling.... JUST DISREGARD IT.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they are rare, I have seen them many times, they are just not the standard. I can see how somome may never see one like this. I would be surprised if this is what his brother was refering to.

So if he really was a busted gambler, he still had $100k and chose to send it away, rather than shoot it off, which isn't what you would expect from a guy about to go broke from gambling.

Now, this is still possible if he lost millions at the casino, and this was his final $100k that he was "protecting" by sending it out of the country (before killing people and presumably having it confiscated after his death) but it's looking like the busted-gambler angle may not be correct.

If anyone here can come up with the guy's e-mail address (even an old one), I can search this site and see if I can find him. There's a possibility he has an account here, given that he was a Seven Stars and played video poker, and this site does come up in searches for both.

You would think a disgruntled gambler would take it out on the casino and its employees, not some concert across the street. Then agian, anyone who's capable of shooting hundereds of random people isn't in their right frame of mind in the first place.

If this guy was able to get so many weapons in his room to shoot up the Strip, he also had the means to set off bombs in the casino -- or in multiple casinos.

My girlfriend came up with another idea: maybe he flipped out when his GF left him? If true, that is one heck of a flipped out.

No... I still don't think it was "casino revenge" and I don't think he flipped out over the GF. This is something much, much, much bigger. I can't rule out he wanted to be a terrorist. Whether it was with some group that we know about or not, he did accomplish that -- he will always be known as a terrorist.

One of his Reno neighbors called him a professional gambler. You can't go off what people like that say. It's based in ignorance. Probably in her mind his gambling a lot meant he was a professional. I don't think he was a busted out gambler either. I think the guy just had mental issues. But I'm wondering if that suite in Mandalay Bay was comped.

Before I heard anything "reliable" about his gambling, I just assumed it was comped.


I would be willing to give odds and bet that it was. My concern would be if the MGM tries to hide that fact for some reason.

I agree it was domestic terrorism. The questions now is how we go about dealing with it. What steps can venues in Las Vegas, or any large city take to prevent a similar occurrence? "Older white guys" is a very large demographic to profile.

How about we profile old white guys carrying more than 2 automatic weapons.

In my mind his actions amount to murder, not terrorism.

'Terrorism' implies, at least to me, that he acted in support of some sort of grand idea, idelogy, or political belief system.

This guy was a loner, by all accounts so far, and apolitical.

He simply decided it was necessary for him to kill as many people as possible.

A very expensive and tragic eleven minutes for one murdering bastard.

Murderers walk into a 7-Eleven and shoot the cashier to steal what's in the register.

Terrorists perch themselves in Mandalay Bay and shoot more than 500 people killing 58 of them. It doesn't matter what the political beliefs or religious beliefs of the mother fucker asswipe shithole is -- he's a fucking terrorist and he terrorized us. He should burn in hell.

I got a message from an AP the other day who said he knows 2 APs who said they knew the shooter as an AP. Although it's a friend of a friend type thing, I do trust the source.

I have to say it's very interesting what's been posted in this thread.

First there were comments that the shooter lost big and was taking revenge on the casinos.

Then there was a question about whether or not he was comped.

Then the revelation that he is part of the AP brotherhood.

Gosh, is this what's to be expected on a forum of Vegas gamblers?
