Yes, to the RIGHT person. If an owner was an AP, there could be a lot of value obtained from READING PRIVATE MESSAGES. I don't believe Druff is reading PM's, with the exception of someone spamming on the forum, or spamming other users.

Hypothetically, if someone were to purchase it for its "Private Message" value of AP content, the first thing that would need to happen, would be to remove the Trolls. I am confident, There are many AP's that would participate here if it was no longer a "sewer". There are many people who don't participate at WOV due to their strict guidelines. I myself have never had an account there. I do read occasionally.
Here is the thing... with AP information that is on an open forum or even a radio show like Gambling with an Edge, there are small little pieces of information that an AP can take from reading a thread or listening to an episode. So since a lot of information has to be sourced, to gain very little, or any at all, a person must absorb a significant amount of material. The last thing someone wants to do is read Trollish nonsense, to get to the small titbit they are looking for.
Here is an example of something that I have seen in the past of the type of information that can be scraped from users PM's. It was probably close to 2 years ago, a user that has been described as a "Multi-Carder" was communicating with another user that was going to use the cards to "Pick up the free play." I imagine the cards were sent via snail mail. Let's say the amount on the cards was shared in the PM. If the forum owner is an AP, and he sees the amount of Freeplay is, let's say mid Four figures monthly per player. Without even knowing what method was used to "build" the coin-in on the cards, he would know based on what he may be seeing in other areas, that this particular casino, for whatever reason it may be, is currently giving better "offers", than he is aware of elsewhere.
I have contacted Todd to express my concerns. I also inquired just about a year ago if he had an interest in selling the forum. He said no. We didn't even get to discussing a price, but I wouldn't have paid much. It just seemed like he had no real interest in this forum, other than preserving the content he had posted which I surely would have done. Seems like he has even less interest now a year later. I also would have had an interest in leasing the site or more precisely the administrative duties and responsibilities while he retained ownership. But again, he made it clear he wasn't interested in doing anything so we didn't even get into that.Quote:

There also would be a bit of a format change. There would be some new and distinct sections. EVERYTHING wouldn't just be lumped into the Las Vegas section. That is weird. There would be an AP section for anyone wishing to discuss any advantage play they are doing. Other members could challenge what was shared, and express doubt respectfully, but there wouldn't be all the name calling and that occurs now. And of course the original poster would have the opportunity to explain himself further.
There would be a section to discuss gambling that wasn't advantage play. Maybe some roulette play, or bingo play, or any trip report that was a recreational type trip. I personally enjoy reading those. I would like to hear more of someone like MrV's gambling experiences for example.
And there would be a "voodoo" section. Not sure if that would be the name or it might be something gentler, but that is where stories and claims of things like EvenBob's 80% roulette would ultimately end up. And much of Singer's and Mdawg's claims would probably end up there as well. At WoV, Mdawgs adventure thread was relegated to that type of section for the first two years, until he talked his way out of it.
If someone were to write stories and claims of say winning nearly every day, and casinos allowing it, upon being challenged, he would have to explain how that was possible when the claims defied either or the math or the way the casino industry works. Inability to explain and the claim/story would be off to the "voodoo" section until he could. Just wouldn't allow people to say I flap my arms and fly and that is what we have here.
I would try to build back more membership by first making it known through my blackjack friends and contacts that I was running the forum and the things that kept or drove many members away were no more. Hopefully that would bring a few more blackjack players and lead to more blackjack discussion.
But I am looking for more than just an alternative to one of the blackjack forums. I would encourage mickeycrimm and all the other machine players to continue to share and talk about machine play. I would like to have more volume and better sports betting discussion. I would encourage mickey, redietz and half smoke to engage in more sports betting discussion, which seems to have more interest of late, including some of the different bonus whoring activity, like I have been doing. Also including anyone's sports picks that wanted to go on record doing so, including Dan Druff to continue his sports picks. Lets see how we all do picking sports.
I think this forum could be turned into a legitimate gambling discussion forum, and not just a sewer troll forum. And we could maintain some friendly type banter that DRuff mentioned, but come on people, that is NOT what we currently have. And if we lost a few people that have proven they only want to troll along the way so be it.
But instead we are a troll sewer type forum, losing a few more members each and every year. I guess that will continue, with or without me, should I ever give up on this place.

The forum were Mdawg started, which is a forum for people writing stories, created a gambling section for Mdawgs stories. So this would be just the opposite, a gambling forum, creating a fiction section for his stories. :rolleyes:
KJ, your suggestions as to how this forum could be set up make sense, but given Todd's intransigence the only way to fulfill such a "dream" would be for you to start your own forum.
