This happened where I worked long ago. The server got mad because the patrons were doing this to save the cost of a drink and I specifically remembered her being angry because they were doing this and were black. She didn't like blacks and didn't like her tips she had gotten from blacks. It was an expensive buffet with table service for some things, some didn't tip much because the customers served themselves their own food.
I am black and wouldn't want to be served by a racist Waitress. :( I also wouldn't be making a free lemonade that way either though. A lemonade is probably around $4 at the most, plus you get free refills, making free lemonade that way is honestly low class and cheap.
I remember a Starbucks Barista saying her Customers ask her for a shot of espresso and ice for about $2 and go to the condiments bar and putting free cream and sugar into their cup, making a $2 latte when a latte is around $7. She at first thought,"That's a genius way to save around $5 for what is essentially the same thing, but now I think,"That's low class and cheap!"
