Slapinfunk gave his opinion as a poker player. I went to a blackjack pit where the tables were arranged so that seeing cards over the lips of the table was impossible. Add in the bodies of other players that are in the way. Add in that the dealers at both tables may not be dealing at the opportune time that you could see the cards.
Sure, under perfect conditions I could differentiate a 2 from a 9 and a 6 from paint, but this is supposed to happen under playing conditions.
Someone, someone, go to a casino, sit in the middle seat as kewlj says he does, and report back. So far NO ONE has done it, not even redietz.
Actually... The cards used at blackjack (Poker Sized) are easier to read from a far than the decks used at Poker (Bridge Sized).
Plus the Black Jack cards are usually large faced (bigger letters) but then again, as I stated previously, you do not need to read the letters or numbers on the card. You simply need to only see the pips.
If a dealer has the stump off the table enough at a poker table I can makeout much of the card while being pitched. If a picture or what suit. It isn't perfect, but even having the knowledge of the player being dealt a red card rather than a black card can give you an "edge" at a poker game.
But yes... If you know how to read cards you can read them from across the room very easily...
Pop quiz... Who can tell me what this card is?
So, looking back, here is the way the discussion started.
August 7, 2017 11:11pm (yeah over a year now) I mentioned that I track two tables when I am able to. And yes Alan, I said "try to" in that very first post.
The following morning, Alan's first response is
To which I responded:
Notice the similarity to SLaPiNFuNK's pips and paint comment.
After further discussion for most of that day, Alan jumped up at 3am, ran out to Ceasar's where he proceeded to take blurry pictures with his cellphone, to which I responded:
Again notice the similarities to SLaPiNFuNK's comment of a cell phone to human eye comparison.
All I can say is it is good to see someone in Alan's family has some reasonable thought process. Can we switch out Mendelsons and only deal with Slappy from now on. ;)
Slapinfunk how many players are between you and your vision of the cards in the air at a poker table? Answer is zero.
Now put yourself in the middle seat of a blackjack table. What is the maximum number of players to your right at your table and at the table to your right would still give you a clear vision of the cards in play at the table on your right?
Kewlj I took the pictures at Treasure Island.
But so far no one here has sat at,a blackjack table in a middle seat and reported if they could see the cards at the table on their right or left.
Slapinfunk you are ten minutes from Pechanga. Take a ride and take a seat.
The number of players at the other tables is much less important than one particular seat at each table. For the table to your right it will be the second to last seat. To the table to your left it is the second seat. Those are the only seats at each table that might block your view of the playing area. And I stated very early on that if someone is in that key seat at each table, you may not be able to have a good enough sight line to track that table.
I'm gonna make an educated guess and say it's a 9, but may be an 8.
It's clearly not an A, 2, 3, or 4. On a 5, the pips would be further away. A 6 doesn't have a "center" pip. The "opposite" facing pips on a 7 don't have a pip in between them, the 4 surrounding pips on a 7 are oriented the same way as the center pip. It could be an 8, although the spacing looks more like that of a 9. It's not a 10 because both of the "center" pips on a 10 are surrounded by 4 pips that go in the same direction.
I've played at one table and counted the table next to me several times. I would generally only do it if it was "easy" to do, since my counting skillz have never been top notch. But if I was at a slow table, next to a slow table, with a view, sure, why not? But I wouldn't try to look around people or anything like that...or according to Alan, use X-ray vision. lol
One more question for slapinfunk. Do you think you could watch the cards at the other table without being detected as a card counter? Can you see the other table without being obvious about what you're doing?
Alan, you don't play blackjack. You don't count cards. Near as I can tell, you may not see that well.
I play blackjack 300+ days a year. I have made a living counting cards for 15 years now. And I have pretty darn good vision.
I am through arguing this with you. It's just another case of you arguing something you just have no clue about.
By the way kewlj. I held the phone at eye level while sitting in a middle seat to illustrate the angle of view. This is why I ask everyone to go to a casino, sit in the middle seat as you said you do, and report back.
True kewlj I don't play blackjack and I don't count cards, but I know if you're in the middle seat of a curved table that you will have to turn your head and possibly need xray vision to see the cards at the next table. I have not seen blackjack tables neatly arranged in a group to allow anyone to casually peer at the neighboring table. My photo at Treasure Island showed the tables in a straight line. How could you see the next table without turning your head at the middle seat? How many turns could you make without being detected?
The photo was actually taken at Mirage, not that it matters (I just went back and looked).
The curve of the table is actually what makes it possible to see the neighboring table, just by turning your head slightly or in some cases, just your eyes.
You just don't know what you are talking about Alan. Above you said that you couldn't see over the "lip" of the table. You would have to be 3 feet tall to not see over the lip of the table. You just don't know of which you speak.
Hrmmm... I've never thought of that... I mean, looking at another table to see the action? I mean, wow... They are wide open in the middle of the room... I guess I should stop looking to see what someone hit when they are yelling "back up the money truck" next time...
Also... It is pretty easy to add 1 + 1- 1 + 1 + 0 + 0 ... I mean.. it's not exactly complicated math. I can calculate odds based on my holdings on the fly.
If you are going to count you better be able to see 12 cards on a table and be able to figure the sum within a second... Just as easily as you can figure 2+2 = 4
This is yet another thing Alan fought me on. Most counters use a cancelation method. You look at a group of 8-10 cards and several have a value of zero and several others cancel out, leaving you with a number for the group in about a tenth of a second. This isn't even something you intentionally do. Your mind just does it after a while.
As you know my seven to rolls ratio is very high. Maybe they do fake a 7 once or twice.
LOL
Another Family Feud!
It is pretty bad when your own Son is coming in here taking sides against you.
Do you still owe him money?
Would his statements change if you agreed to pay what is owed to him?
Alan and his son, appear to be polar opposites when it comes to gambling knowledge!! good posts Slapinfunk.
SLaPiNFuNK
Did you hit 4 royals in one day on single line VP and still lose?
Axel I suggest you create a separate thread with the question so Jason can't miss it.
Never mind. I will.
KJ. This is quite a pissing contest you've entered with someone who admits to never playing the game. Maybe this will help?
KJ. I'm curious. I did not see one post from Tarzan in this entire thread. Zee made some posts. Is Zee Tarzan?
Ok, here's what happened moses. When Alan challenged my tracking multiple tables on this site, I started the thread that you linked to at blackjackinfo, asking who else tracks multiple tables. As often occurs, when I post at BJinfo, someone then carried this discussion forward to Norm's site, where a "mirror" discussion took place. Tarzan made his comments in that "mirror" discussion at Norm's site. But unable to respond to Tarzan at Norm's site, I responded at BJinfo where Tarzan is also a member and reads. Got it?
You know moses had you linked to a thread like that from the "other" blackjack site, the owner would be screaming copyright laws at you and threatening to sue you. Crazy guy that he is. ;)
But since you did link to this particular thread, I urge Alan to read it. While blackjackinfo has a limited membership, two long-term (decades) professional players, pretty well known in the blackjack community stated that they track a second table when they can. One of them Don Schlesinger, is a renowned blackjack mathematician and author. There were even more experienced players that confirmed they also track multiple tables in some form, in the "mirror" discussion at the "other" site. I think at the time of the discussion concerning Alan's challenge (which still continues), I also posted private emails from another very well known 30 year professional player Richard Munchkin confirming his use of this technique.
So despite that quite a few experienced players have confirmed that they track a second table in some form when they are able to, Alan, who doesn't even play the game, continues to insist that it is impossible. And he will likely weigh in again to that point. lol.
So thanks for the link moses.
That makes perfect sense. Been there - doing that.
If we are talking about the hamburger chain. Big whup. He might want to check out the skeletons in his own closet first.
Alan, IMO it's a worthwhile read. KJ has some good stuff in it as well. He is a good poster as long as he keeps Snickers bar nearby.:D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT-SAoTXNAs
I do not think it is possible either. I've been in casinos one or twice (lol) and thought "how in the world is KJ doing this? However, and I mean a BIG HOWEVER, if I would have set my limitations in life based on what others perceive as being posible, I would never have achieved a 7 figure bank account, houses without mortage, cars, trucks, 4 college eds (not mine) after starting with nothing. IF my son would've taken my advice 5 years ago, he'd still be working a job and he wouldn't have taken the biz to an even higher level than I could've imagined. So what the hell do I know? Cat's in the Cradle now. They used to say I could make something out of nothing. I don't know about that. But I know the alternative (losing) was not an option. The IMORTANT thing is that YOU believe you can do it.
Your welcome.
Well, Alan I wouldn't want to do it out fo fear of being spotted by the EITS. I'm very aware of EVERYTHING going on around me in a casino. From the robbers to the drug deals to the hooker negotiations. I see it or feel it damn near everyday. Whoops, that guys being cased. Why is that carrying a backpack and and muttering to himself? Whoa, that hooker is negotiating with one guy at the bar and another over behind a row of slot machines and neither guy knows it. Why does that guy have a stocking cap stuffed in the back of his pants in July. Cold ears? Hmmm. I doubt it.
I knew when a lady was coming to hit on me at a table once or twice. You know, the old what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas rule.
But I've never spotted a guy counting two tables. This isn't to say KJ isn't doing it. But it's beyond my capabilities and I'm not exactly a slouch counter. More power to him. That is a balsy move IMO.
Thanks Moses. Sitting in a center seat do you think you'd have to turn your head a bit much to see the cards at a neighboring table? Do you think your dealer and the dealer next door will be in sync so you wouldn't hold up your own table? Do you think that maybe one player's body or body parts might obstruct your view? Do you think it might be a little awkward standing at your table to improve your view of the neighboring table? Do you think looking at the next table is totally normal and regular?
Here's what they look like...totally inconspicuous, easy to understand why you didn't spot them.
https://media1.tenor.com/images/56e5...itemid=6126235
LOL Good stuff Coach. I prefer the Leon Russell (piano player) look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhlvQen4mWw
Alan; No. No. Yes. Yes. No. But if all fairness to KJ: Do you think you could tell how many 2-4s have been played and still remain, 5-7s, 8-9, tens, Aces in a two card deck? Easy for me, as buttering a poptart.
I'd have to see it to believe it. But KJ won't let that happen and I don't blame him. I hate it when people watch me play.
Oh good moses, you have endeared yourself to Alan. You are his new best friend because you don't track a second table. ;)
But moses plays single deck blackjack in northern Nevada. Tracking and jumping to a second table isn't conducive to single deck blackjack. You might get 1 round in before the shuffle. Tracking multiple tables is an approach best suited for shoe (6 and 8 deck) games, so I am not surprised Moses hasn't looked into this technique. He focuses on whatever technique is better suited for single deck play.
But Alan will spin it differently, dishonestly as he always does.
I think can't is a better word than don't. I can do alot of things with counting, memory retention, ratios, percentages, that evidently others cannot perform. But this is beyond my ability to perform. Can you run the 100 yard dash in 11 seconds? I can't either. But there was a time not too long ago. lol
It's not as hard as you think moses. I'll bet if you were playing shoe games you would start doing so. Actually when I started, it wasn't even a conscious decision. I didn't say "hey I think I will count the table next to me". You just start looking a round, especially if the dealer or other player aren't very fast, and you just sort of notice what is going on at the next table. Next thing you know you see 3 or 4 rounds with many small cards on the felt and you say "hey that is a much better opportunity than this negative or neutral count that I am stuck with for the next 15 rounds". Before you know it you are frequently tracking a second table.
But again, this is really a shoe thing. It just won't be beneficial for Single deck. Not even beneficial for double deck that I play on occasion.
Interesting KJ. I'm not trying to grill you. IYO is this a common activity for shoe counters we know in common? Im curious enough to pay a little closer attention to shoe tables. Don't worry i wouldn't stand and stare. I pick up on things in a millisecond that some take a minute or totally miss.
It is a form of 'wonging in' otherwise known as back counting. I don't question other counters as to who uses this technique or that technique. I do happen to know a few counters that we know that do it because I posted that thread, after Alan decided that it was impossible. I wanted to see just who else might be doing it as well.
Turned out Richard Munchkin had been doing it for years. I actually knew that from private discussions. But by posting that thread, I found out that 21forme has also been doing so for years and Don Schlesinger for....I think he said 40 years. In the mirror discussion at Norm's site, there were several more players that stated they also track a second table. Not all the time of course, but when they can. I forget exactly who. I am sure members we both know, since we were both on that site for many years.
I think...can't swear to it, but I think bigplayer may have mentioned tracking a second table at one time. That would make sense since bigplayer was/is a longtime member of one of the very famous BJ teams (not MIT). BJ teams use the call in approach with spotters. Tracking a second table is basically the same thing except you are playing both roles, spotter and call-in player.
I dunno Alan. It sounds preposterus and without logic. However, I've read KJ's posts for over 5 years on a several different forums. I will say this, KJ remains consistent. He stands up for what he believes in and not wavered when odds were stacked against from other posters. Including me being a huge adversary. He has paid the price for what he does, says, and believes. Therefore, I give him a pass. There is no logical reason for him to lie either.
Trust me, I read many posts from bullshitter extraordinaires over the years. IMO, KJ speaks the truth. More power to you KJ.
I understand. And you should understand why I never backed down from my report that I saw a random shooter throw 18 yos in a row at a table at Caesars Palace. There was no logical reason for me to lie either. I had no skin in the game. In fact I was a jerk for not betting a single buck on 11.
I'm pretty much from the "Hmmm, never saw that one before" daily world. For instance, I'm sitting with a rather large bet on Cubs in a 1-1 Suspended extra inning game to be finished this morning. Currently, I have no idea if my ticket is good or if it's going to be treated as a wash. If it's still good, then I consider it a high value IF they don't adjust the price. Doesn't mean I will win.
People will do and say alot of things. In my world, I'd say it's about 90% bullshit. Maybe I need to change my world? The shoe game itself boggles my mind as to how anyone could compete. But as long as others or myself are not harmed, then what the hell does it matter?
By comparison, KJ is pretty much a straight shooter. My belief of this derives from his best work on another site. He pretty much stood alone for right(s) versus wrong as I'm currently doing on that site. In short, there are some real creeps out there that use unsuspecting naive people for personal financial gain. There stories are wild and unbelievable.
The truth shall set you free? Well, I don't know about that. But I'm certain, first hand, that lies and deception will put one and others in bondage for a very long time - maybe forever. I guess that is what I'm standing against.
Again, I thank you for the kind words moses. From my online presence on a number of forums, there are a few people that seem to big fans of me...not so much here, but on other sites. And there are some that just really dislike me. Some of those are here. I seem to rub some people the wrong way.
I have several reasons why I participate in the AP/gambling community. As I have said on numerous occasions, I want to share my experiences, my journey and what little knowledge I have accumulated along the way just as others did for me a decade ago when I was starting. It is my hope that others, especially guys just starting out, can and have benefited.
Second thing is I believe we (somewhat successful AP's) have a responsibility to call out some of the bullshit claims that are made, as I did with the phony super-duper count guy on the blackjack site that lead to my banning there and at WoV and as I do with this Rob Singer person here. I don't challenge every claim that I hear. Lot's of times I read something and say to myself "I find THAT hard to believe" or "that is just not credible" and say nothing. But the really egregious claims that really mislead other players...you know the kind where someone has gone to a whole elaborate story with phony math and/or formulas and usually speaks in code words and circles attempting to muddy the waters....THAT I feel I must call out and I do. It is just not fair to other players, not to. I am not trying to protect the world, I just think there is some responsibility to call out this kind of elaborate, intentional bullshit.
And third, I am probably too insecure, and don't like it when people say things about me that aren't true, and feel the need to answer back. I would probably be better off to not engage with these kind of trolls, but I guess I just haven't figure that out yet or am not strong enough to ignore them. :( Hopefully I will grow into that.
So as I said, there are people on these forums that just don't like me. I guess I have rubbed them the wrong way, one way or another. (insert Michael Scott...that's what she/he said joke here). It is not often when someone like you, who has stated that they generally don't like me, says something like "KJ is a straight shooter", or "that they find me very credible" as MrV and LarryS, who are no fans, have on occasion said. That really means a lot to me. So again, thank you.
Quick story: I remember in junior high, a neighbor kid got a pair of boxing gloves for his Birthday. So he wanted to try them out even though he had no idea how to box. Well, I had a good time. But the next day his gloves were in the trash. Evidently, it wasn't so much fun for him getting hit as it was me delivering.
A couple of points to this story. It's the same thing for blackjack in a casino. They really don't like getting hit. I (or we) understand that getting hit is part of the process to profit. The difference is my strategy is also really good at ducking. So my job is like a paper route. Somedays I'm done by 2pm because delivering more hits might find them putting their gloves in the trash tomorrow. They don't understand the process.
Well, on those days, there is still a helluva lot of daylight to fill. I might go to a movie or go watch a game in the sportsbook. Now, what I've noticed is the guys in the sportsbook are very similar to those that write on the forums. Great group of guys. But the stories tend to grow.
It's important to discern what is fun versus what is damaging. The latter most guys just get up and walk away. I've learned (the hard way) not to be the last one sitting at the table with a bullshitter. lol
From what I've read here, it's a fun bunch of guys. You must remember how serious and boring it was on another site (sight). I don't know a thing about machines, so for me, the reading is pure enjoyment.
Let's take Zee for example. To say he pisses people off would be an understatement. No? In a sportsbook, guys would exit the table in record time. But on a forum it can go on for years. So KJ, my advice is you've got become a better ducker. Someday, you'll be an expert ducker and people will refer to you as a mother ducker. lol
Why did you lie about your son hitting 5 single line royals in one day? I know why, but I thought I would ask you anyways since I like hearing a good yarn. You never backed down from that untill the truth came out. You were so sure it happend that you wanted to put money on the line.
Axelwolf, I don't understand why you are making such a big issue about this? Nobody thinks Alan is generally dishonest more than I, but I just don't see this as that huge of a deal. So he exaggerated, including a couple royal that were not "single line Royals" into the claim. Real "gamblers", degenerate type gamblers, like Alan clearly is, have that excitement factor concerning jackpot wins and I think often exaggerate as Alan did here and I am quite sure as he did with the 18 y.o.'s in a row.
I sort of build that into the equation when I know I am dealing with these type of gamblers making such a claim. Why is this such a big issue for you? What am I missing? You say "you think you know why he did this" so tell us what you are thinking?
Be careful with that first paragrah KJ. Not that you need advice from me. But I have seen, with my own two peepers, a guy come up and ask for an opinion on a sports bet. Then, want to take it outside with the guy who provided his opinion because he lost. Of course, I live in the Entitlement capitol of the world.
Now, I wouldn't know Rob Singer from Rod Stewart. Wake up Maggie. lol But the super-duper count guy T3? It seems there are many inconsistencies as I've tried to follow along. It could simply be above my capability to absorb all that he is saying. But if I can't get it, how the hell would a newbie understand? I've picked up somethings long the way to add. At the very least, he is an interesting cat?
Two comments for AxelWolf and Kewlj.
1. Yes, I was at the table and watched the random shooter roll 18 yos in a row and heard the stickman keep count and watched as he checked the dice. I stand by what I saw and heard.
2. While Jason and I spent that time together in Vegas I did not play next to him so I did not personally see him hit the four single line royals nor his W2Gs with the exception of the royal at Gold Strike which preceded our drive to Caesars. The only royal and hand pay I saw was at Gold Strike as the machine I was playing was only a few feet from where Jason was playing.
RS for several years I said he hit single line royals. When Jason actually found a folder with the photos it was not single line royals.
