But guess what I'll do when I come of age to start collecting social security, I'll use it. Why? Because I've probably paid at least a million dollars into it. And just because I use it that doesn't mean I agree with it. I know this is a hard concept for liberals to understand.

This is what I've been trying to explain to accountinquestion; there are many laws I don't agree with, but I still abide by them since I don't want to go to jail. That's what accountinquestion should be doing to stay out of jail. He seems to like to smoke weed in states where he knows it's against the law, and he could go to jail. This makes no sense to me. Most conservatives blame FDR for creating the Social Security Retirement Accounts but not investing the money in the stock market. The problem with investing the money in the stock market was the year was 1935, smack dab in the middle of the Great Depression. The market crashed in 1929 but didn't bottom out until 1934. Then it was a painfully slow climb upward. If FDR would have created a national retirement program based on the stock market he not only would have been just a one-term president he would have been tarred and feathered and ran out of town. In 1935 all Americans blamed the stock market for the depression.

I’m not blaming him for not investing the retirement accounts in the stock market. I don’t think the program was a good idea for people to be forced to pay into something that they may not have wanted. Especially so in the mid 1930’s when life expectancies where in the low 60’s. But like many government programs if they don’t forcibly compel people to pay into, there won’t be enough volunteers to keep the Ponzi scheme afloat.
Oh, and employers are made to pay a matching .0625% as well.

Mickey, I'm going to have to correct a couple things you're saying here. You make this statement: "Taxation in any form is a socialist policy." That's not a correct statement. What defines socialism is policies where the government uses their power to redistribute wealth. Here's the definition: "a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole."

You can have taxation without any socialist policies. Before FDR, our country had almost no taxation for socialist polices. The taxation was used to run our government functions like the fire department, police, etc, and to pay for our military, and our roads, etc. None of this has anything to do with "socialism".

Every government needs some form of taxation to run. Socialism means the government is taxing us for the purpose of redistributing wealth more or less. Social Security would be seen as a socialist program, since the government determines how much you get; as I'm sure you know it's not just based on what you put in. All the Democrat poverty programs are socialist programs. Even handouts to farmer, which my ancestors were, have adapted socialist programs.

Socialist programs have crept into almost every part of our life. Most people don't know to what extent. When my great grandfathers were farming they weren't getting government handouts. My uncles today are. They don't agree with much of it since they are conservatives, but they have to take advantage of these handouts otherwise they couldn't compete with other farmers.

The government (through the liberal Democrats) have pushed more and more of their socialist programs on our country, to where people and businesses can't operate unless they take advantage of them. And then the Dems (and people like Kj) say see how much the government is helping you. The better policy would be to stay out of it and let people keep what they make. Only tax people to run the government, build roads, and defend our freedom, and make laws to force competition by breaking up monopolies. This is what our government should be doing.

Also, true conservatives don't believe social security has anything to do with investing in stocks. It has to do with this is NOT the role of government in a free society. In a free society, I should be able to spend my money the way I want. Yes, the government needs to tax me to be able to operate, and to defend our nation. But it shouldn't be in the business of managing our retirement accounts.

I think what you're thinking of with regard to Social Security is what George Bush wanted to do with it. He wanted to give people some control over their own retirement money (Social Security money), by letting them invest it like they wanted to. Obviously, this didn't go over well with the Democrats, because they see social security as just another tax that the government can spend how they want to.

I have tried to work from home for 2 months. It is difficult to do. While I can service some existing clients, I can't meet with any new ones. I can't open probate estates, access safe deposit boxes, or file Wills as it has all been closed. I can draft documents, but they couldn't be witnessed and notarized. They passed some new laws for virtual notarization of documents, but even if I had the required technology at home, the elderly client neither has the equipment nor would be able to operate it.

I do now have 7 COVID deaths awaiting estate administration, so there is some inventory for the future when the courts open.

To make matters worse, most of the race tracks were closed!!!

Yeah, I think everybody agrees it’s pretty much settled, but now we’re trying to figure out if Rob is exaggerating on the pop up pull-behind Winnebago trailer he claims he owns. MaxPen has brought this up and I’d like to get to the bottom of it, if for no other reason than to learn more about Winnibagos. I’m now an expert on Newell’s so I might as well become an expert on pop up pull-behind Winnebagos.

As far as Rob possibly taking advantage of the double up bug on a smaller scale, his claim that he won only $2.8 million over 5 yeass is one or many reasons I didn’t believe him from the beginning. That is not a lot of money for something like this. I mean Nester said it was like “printing money”.

If someone was smart, they could have easily won about $3 million a year and stayed under the casino’s radar with this play. Why would someone only want to win about $500,000/year? That’s chump change for a play this easy. And there would be no reason to ever hit big jackpots since you could determine how much you won.

And as I’ve said many times, a person who really exploited this play and won big money would take this secret to their grave, since they wouldn’t want the IRS coming after them. There is no way someone would brag about this on an open forum.

Now if someone didn’t do it, then they have nothing to worry about from the IRS, and they can make up as many stories as they want about all the money they won off it.

So the very fact Rob claims he did it is an indication that he didn’t do it. Again, I get this doesn’t prove anything.

If it's true that Rob is not telling us the truth, I wouldn't call it trolling, it's outright being deceptive and lying, and in this case it goes well beyond just trolling. And I'll tell you what, it shouldn't be celebrated, encouraged, or tolerated, especially since he has now caused some serious fights(at least as far as internet fights go) among a few members here that normally wouldn't. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my small turtle pond/stream and small garden, I started putting new stainless steel cabinet handles on my cupboards, I created and designed a new pretty cool looking TV wall for my room not too long ago, I've helped my brother build a website invested in his little business and help him with other things, I have some other online side projects I've been doing. I've been messing around trading a little crypto here and there, I'm always refurbishing and fixing old computers. Me and my wife usually barbecue once every two or three weeks, I get out to the casinos and do regular Advantage play when I have to. We Go to nice dinners and see shows occasionally and lots of other s*** I don't care to mention. I don't know man, I'm pretty f****** happy and content. I pretty much do what I want, when I want( within reason).

Look, I don’t know how old people are here, so I’ll explain it since I see most aren’t getting it.

If you’re in the 50, 60 or 70 age group this is all you heard in the lockrooms in junior high, high school and even somewhat in college. Call it hazing if you like, but everybody did it to everybody. I get there were some exception, so I’m talking more about the jock crowd. They would make fun of somebody by calling them some type of homosexual. Back then there was no status in being queer, like now. For the record, I didn’t do it, but I probably laughed when kids did it, just like I do now.
