Just home from my last trip
First, thanks for those that responded to my original post and kept on topic. My personal interest in spending time here is to post my experiences and gain useful information in this endeavor of becoming more profitable playing video poker. In 2011 this was the first year of posting a net gain, and currently I am profitable in 2012.
I want to report from my last trip to Las Vegas and Laughlin. Down $200 after 2 days at suncoast, and after cashing out my free play at Agua Caliente, Golden Nugget Laughlin, Edgewater, and Suncoast in LV, I hit a royal on 5.00, for $4,000. It was late so I didn’t drive home that night, I booked a room at Orleans on another comp and played a little.
I was down 200 on qtr 50cent and dollar bonus poker when I changed areas and played higher limit 2.00, 5.00, 10.00. After 20 minutes AAAA on 25.00 bet for 2000.00 plus the 333 I had already made.
For me this is a large win cycle. I was hard to sleep that night. The next morning I deposited my take less my trip bankroll into the ATM at my bank. To this point I followed my strategy very well.
After a long sleep Friday afternoon and night (probably 13 hours) I checked out and enjoyed a beautiful Vegas day. I have a friend I call to report to on my trips, she more or less helps me review my progress and how Im following my plan.
I had never been to the Wynn. Part of my progression is that I wanted to start playing at the hotels where I’d really like to stay. I decided I would play at the Wynn. They didn’t have the vp machines I really like and I had to keep switching machines between 2.00 and 5.00 denominations. I ended up giving back 2000.00 at the Wynn. Then another 500 on the way back home. I will say though, I had a fantastic experience staying there. Although I blew back a chunk of my overall profit, I separated that from my awesome stay. The food and amenities were incredible. I found the people really cool to talk to and it was just incredible. I just think the video poker is kinda a thumbs down because of the denomination combinations.
So my overall take from the trip was 4000.00. I feel fairly burnt out and dejected, even though I still have the 4k. I guess I hate losing and hate giving money back. I didn’t follow my plan when I was up nearly 7K, but was still a net winner. This is about where I am in my level of play. I am sure it would be nice to have gone home after the two large wins, but it didn’t happen. I see here I have room for improvement.
I am not sure if I will improve this or the give back cycle after large wins will always continue. I seem to still get very pumped up after large wins. I realize the best move would have been to go home right away, but also due to the fact that I smashed my drivers side mirror on a parking lot support the prior day, I didn’t wanna drive home without a new mirror ( I got that replaced at the dealership in Las Vegas on Saturday).
One thing I have to mention is the importance of nutrition and vitamins when you are spending a lot of time in a casino. Smoking, being around cigarette smoke, and stress, astronomically increases your body’s need for vitamin C. If you are playing video poker, buy the powedered vitamin C at Traders Joes and mix a few teaspoons full a day into juice or water, preferably before and after sessions in the casino.
There is no reason to have bronchitis, or any of that stuff if you do this. You need to be vigilant about nutrition and supplementation especially when you are submersed in cigarette smoke. If you play video poker and don’t take steps to improve your health, all the money in the world wont be worth what your life will be like in 10 years.
I guess I just wanted to report my experience. I guess to vent it out. It could have been better, more efficient, more profitable and less time spent. But the stay and the Wynn for me was absolutely incredible. And even though I realize I didn’t have to drop 2k to have that experience, I was very impressed with everything there and everyone I met.
