You are an attorney regnis?
That is why it is better to try to avoid such a situation in the first place. The letter, which is something Bob recommends, hopefully immediately alerts law enforcement that, you are someone who is going to pursue the matter, so it isn't just going to go away quietly. Also the name Bob Nersesian, has meaning to Las Vegas and Nevada jurisdictions. Hopefully that too is a warning that there is going to be a light shined (<-shined?) on this action.
Similarly with traveling. I let the banks move my money. An account at one of the major national type banks does the trick. Some AP's complain about lost time when reaching the destination to getting your funds, especially arriving at night or on a weekend. There is also an issue for high stakes players because they have to notify the bank in advance to have enough cash. (I don't have that problem at my stakes) Even so, these are a small inconvenience in my mind.
Besides airport TSA, you have taxidrivers, people at the airport. Travel is stressful enough without carrying a shitload of money. One time when I was returning to Vegas from a trip east, a guy going through security a couple people in front of me, announced to TSA that he was traveling to Vegas and has significant money. They had him hold it (a big brick of cash) in his hands, over his head as he went through the scanner. WHAT....A ....FREAKING....SCHMUCK! Might as well of been holding a "please rob me" sign.
