I've never taken a whiff of anything illegal in my life, except for the rare occasions I was sitting (not smoking) in a car with dudes smoking black opium, which was so bad it left tar on the inside of the windows. Your gambling resume, on which you hang 5000 posts here, and god knows how many elsewhere, and based on which you critique everyone's gambling and lifestyle, is that you were a stringer at Gaming Today. You and Keno Lil.
That's the bald-faced reality of it. My guess (and it's more than a guess, because I've done it) is that if readers call Gaming Today tomorrow and ask about the old stringer, Rob Singer, GT will explain that they have no current relationship with Rob Singer, they do not want a relationship with Rob Singer, and when asked about their previous relationship with Rob Singer, they will have no comment. Yeah, that sounds like a lot of love and respect.
Rob, your resume is that you were a stringer for Gaming Today. C'mon, man, you're to be admired and saluted for turning such a flimsy credential into an online soapbox with you as philosophizing hero.

Actually, Alan, I'm going to disagree with you on that. I checked both the dictionary definition of "stringer" and the Reuters handbook of journalism regarding bylines, and stringers are often if not usually bylined. In addition, editors are supposed to go back and check with stringers regarding major changes to their work so there are no ghost-written stringer stories.
My mother-in-law was technically a stringer for years, but she was paid. So was my wife, when she was in high school.
I find it interesting you would defend Rob here. That column is (make that "was") Rob's only real gambling credential outside of your videos. He took shots at my list of gambling -- call them what you will -- credentials, accomplishments, vetting, and yet he has very little in the way of same. He presents himself as an expert, but who has vetted his expertise?
As a journalist, you can appreciate that Rob's entire reputation hinged on his relationship with the former publisher of Gaming Today and you. The publisher died; his wife (who took over) and the rest of the GT staff wanted nothing to do with Rob (still don't). Then Rob hooks up with you, who has interviewed three presidents. How did you vet Rob?
One of the papers that interviewed me has won a Pulitzer. They vet the people they interview. How did you vet Rob?

Frankly, redietz, I haven't seen any of your articles or published works. I don't doubt you had articles or published works, but I've never seen them. I've seen Rob's and read them. I also saw his website when he had a website.
It was when he took his website down that I approached him to have a place on my website where his information could be permanently available... at least as long as I'm alive.

Well, technically, I was co-author. Hate to take all of the credit.

The point is well taken on not tipping W2G payouts, but my biggest fear is giving out my Social Security number to an attendant who might think I am an asshole for not tipping and s/he happens to know all sorts of nefarious things that can be done with a SSN.
I don't understand what this discussion is all about? If you don't want to tip-- don't tip. If you do tip-- tip.
The only thing "wrong" is criticizing someone else for what they do.
I won't criticize you if you only wear blue shirts. And I won't criticize you if you don't brush your teeth after every meal. It's the same thing with tips. Do what you want. It doesn't impact me.
I have a tipping question. When you tip valets, how much do you tip, and do you vary your tip based on which casino and what kind of vehicle you are driving?
If you show up at Caesars or Paris, and you are driving a Lambo versus a BMW versus a Toyota Corolla, do you tip different amounts? And do you tip differently if you are at Bellagio or parking at a downtown casino? If you tip different amounts, why do you do that?
