OK, so given that, why don't American whites treat blacks better?
None of us alive today can base our looking down our noses at blacks on our memory of slavery as none of us were alive then.
Why is racism so deeply ingrained in the USA?

I can only guess that blacks, yesterday & today and rightfully so, have a deep-seated hatred of whites for what the buying and selling and beatings and slavery was to their history. That in turn brings out the racism on both sides here, which you don't see in Europe, Australia, etc. In the US the blacks are an overall angry race compared to elsewhere.
Which is why I fully believe we would have been better off leaving them in Africa and have them assimilate over here as they chose to come over for a better life, like the Irish, Hispanics, Italians etc. have successfully done--not forced to come over here like animals and worked to the bone. Now, our society is paying for it.
