For my final post before we leave tonight, I'm really writing it to MrV. It's a story of one of our trips to Oregon in or around 2010.
We booked 3 nights at the Pacific City motel--just a beautifully quaint and very clean place across the street from the ocean. The famous Pelican Brew Pub, which is across the street and right on the ocean, is where we took most of our meals (and beer). Their food is diverse and top notch.
On our way up from Phx. we stayed 1 night at the GN in downtown LV. This wasn't planned as a gambling trip at all, but I took just $1000 in case I had time to play. It was a one-shot deal: if I lost it I wouldn't get or use any more cash in order to keep the trip in its proper perspective.
Well, I did play at the big main bar at GN and I quit after losing $900. The next morning when we woke up Cindy asked me to go get her a bloody Mary. So I went down to that same bar and decided to play my last hundred and get the drink "comped". With $35 remaining on BP I got four 7's, left a $1 tip for the drink, cashed out and went upstairs.
On our way back I had booked a comp room at the Atlantis in Reno. Dead tired from driving, fate would serve me up a 50c royal as I sat at the bar for a beer before retiring.
The next day I booked a stopover at the Ramada Express in Laughlin--a great place to play in its heyday. I got RFB there (those were the days) so we had a great meal in their Steakhouse. But prior to that it was surreal out on the floor. I was playing $1 thru $10 and promptly hit four 7's on $10 8/5 BP. Back then 7's paid triple, so the handpay was $3750 instead of $1250. Then within 4 or 5 minutes a $10 royal appeared. After that it was like taking candy from a baby: four Aces on $2 10/7 dbp, four Aces twice on $5 10/7 dbp, and lastly, a $2 royal.
After that, the casino manager came out and said he was restricting my play to not ever receiving points again when I play. I laughed. But you know what? It's still in effect today, even as Ramada has been sold multiple times since then. I came home with almost $53000 profit, after being down to my last $35 of gambling money.

This is where I differential between players playing with an advantage and players playing -EV, which is what I consider gambling. And if someone is trying to make some sort of point that I don't put massive amounts of money into play, well show me where I ever said I did. I am a mid-level AP, grinder type AP. I never claimed to be any kind of high end player. But it does add up.
Playing a spread of $25 / $50 to mostly around $500 (max bet) for many years and double that the past couple (covid years), I would guess my average wager was in the $100 to $125 range and is double that now. And playing 60,000-80,000 rounds annually (fewer now), well you can do the math....it works out to 8-9 million a year put into action @ a 1% advantage. And guess what that is exactly what I have averaged a year. :cool:
I am only speaking for myself, but I am just not impressed by people betting more than me (singer, Mdog), but playing -EV, which means they are losing over the long run, despite what they claim. :rolleyes: If THAT is supposed to impress me, it misses the mark.

Playing a spread of $25 / $50 to mostly around $500 (max bet) for many years and double that the past couple (covid years), I would guess my average wager was in the $100 to $125 range and is double that now. And playing 60,000-80,000 rounds annually (fewer now), well you can do the math....it works out to 8-9 million a year put into action @ a 1% advantage. And guess what that is exactly what I have averaged a year. :cool:

REASON #1 I did this was to see how defensive Rob Singer would get. Yes, I concocted a lot of bullshit. This was mostly to see how Rob would respond. You could say I was probing his defenses.

Why Mickey defends Singer I have no clue. He really has bummed me out and ruined my fun but it had come to a close anyway. I don't really have any real issues with Singer. He is a VCT icon. What he lies or doesn't lie about I really don't care. It has nothing to do with me being small and yap yap.

When Rob and the DUB came up everyone was asked to give an unbiased opinion if he really did it or not. Of course, maxpen and KJ hated Singer so their opinions immediately formed that Singer was a liar. Then they looked for evidence to back up their conclusions. They ignored any evidence that didn't back up their preconceived conclusions.
I don't remember it all now but I seen some things.
1. Singer had announced that the published sequence to trigger the double up was wrong. How would he know unless he worked it? He even published what he called the correct sequence. That was significant because nobody knew who was going to come flying out of the woodwork giving the correct sequence and saying Rob was full of shit. But that never happened.
2. Rob announced his retirement from professional video poker in July 2009, the month Kane and Nestor got busted. KJ tryed to pass if off as coincidence. It is a hell of a lot more than coincidence. Yep, it was just a coincidence that Sirhan Sirhan was in LA when Robert Kennedy was killed. Just coincidence that James Early Ray was in Memphis when Martin Luther King was killed.
That's just two of the points I remember. Rob and I were absolutely not getting along. We were bitter enemies. But I gave the opinion that it was likely he did the DUB.
For my unbiased opinion I was viciously attacked in a blindside by maxpen. I didn't understand it. Does no one have the right to their own opinion around Max. I guess not. But one thing that will never happen is I cow tow to a big bag of shit like maxpunk. He's a dirty low life motherfucker. He kept up with trying to shun me back onto his side. I don't read his shit anymore but with all the posts he's made in this thread I guarantee you he has attacked me more than once. He's a lowlife maggot. Unreedeemable.
And KJ. He did the same fucking thing. Thinking he can shame me into changing my opinion. KJ contacted the author of the Kane & Nestor piece. He was determined to prove that Singer lied about the sequence being wrong. But the author told KJ he intentionally published the wrong sequence. So what did KJ go to then? Rob was given the sequence by persons unknown. I put out a 1K reward for any information on anyone else that knew the sequence. Axel questioned many but left us with saying he was uncertain. He couldn't find anything but didn't want to admit it.
They get absolutely no quarter from me. So KJ and maxpen can carry on with their homosexual relationship. Two bag of shit asshole gay lovers.
Singer would have a lot more traction as a believable person if he hadn't done that whole Newell thing. I have no clue about the DU bug. It all makes for more entertainment to harrass Rob.
