Monet, I also have a small fishing boat that I will be using more on open lakes as well as the Connecticut River. And passing up on using the canoe more often is because of the abundance of ticks, and possibly getting lime disease, going into woods.
I enjoyed camping out and hiking as a young man but then came the whammy.
I'd recently met my current wife, it was 1988: some fucking drunk crossed the centerline and hit her Accord head on, seriously injuring her.
Among other injuries both of her heels were broken: shattered, actually.
For a couple months I carried her up and down stairs.
Bottom line: she healed up but cannot tolerate hikes or uneven walking surfaces.
I love her: in for a penny, in for a pound.
My son is an overlander, so I learn from him and enjoy it "vicariously."
Ozarks are nice. I seen a lot of nice little towns there. And plenty of casinos next door in Oklahoma.Quote:

Let me give you a further example: there was a discussion here about how I bought my first condo back in 2009. Bought in on an online auction, significantly below market at the time of the big crash. I immediately applied for a mortgage. I didn't really know how that worked. I was prepared to put down significantly more than most people do, because of my income situation. (I was prepared to pay cash if absolutely had too, but that would have left my bankroll pretty depleted).
So I applied for a mortgage with a company that handles a lot of condo transactions, and after a couple days of sending paperwork back and forth was approved for 50% of purchase price, meaning I would put down 50%. That was a little better for me at the time.
So when I told that story, I think to Alan who was discussing it, Singer jumps in saying no one can get a mortgage as a professional gambler. ( I have since gotten a second when I bought my house, so one of many things Singer was clueless about). So next thing you know, and I mean within hours a "new" member girlfriday or fridaygirl (can't remember which) shows up and girlfriday just happens to be a relator and she emphatically states that Singer is correct. He created an 'expert witness' where there was none for credibility on an issue he was 100% dead wrong about. THAT is the kind of sockpuppetry I am concerned about. And we won't even get into Jerry Logan and his many other socks used for support and credibility.
And now surprise, surprise, surprise (Gomer Pyle) this Mdawg person, down to zero support and people finding him credible, is attempting manufacturing support and credibility in the same manner. I mean I guess Singer at least gets points for being original, although probably others before him.
