I have done Burning Man twice. The first time we went the true "nature" or earthy way of camping outside. It was brutal. The communal showers have water rations. I forget how many gallons you got, but it was barely enough to get your body wet. No where near enough water to allow for feeling clean. :( I forget if we camped out 2 or 3 nights, but I know we left a day earlier than planned, went to Reno and took like a 3 hour shower. ;)
When I was talked into....I mean decided to give Burning Man a second try, we went the RV route. This was a much better experience. Made the whole festival much more enjoyable. I don't ask for much out of life, but I need to take a proper shower....at least once a day, and I like a little air condition to sleep, when the temperature is in the 80's and 90's at night. :rolleyes:
I am glad I experienced Burning Man. It's a bucket list type thing.
I too require showers... When camping, I can stretch it out a couple of days but with all that dust and heat, I'm not sure I'd make it.
I seem to recall a story about some camp that provides a shower similar to a car wash where a wall of anonymous hands scrub you... maybe I'm just too old, but that's not my jam.
I'm also fond of electricity and a data connection. I like rural, but with WiFi.
For the price, I think I'd insist on a water view.

I am neither for nor against Brett Kavanaugh. As a registered republican, with liberal social values, meaning people should be allowed to marry and live with whoever they like my only concern with Kavanaugh was that the a republican supreme court may try to reverse gay marriage, although I have heard little talk of that. Abortion? I just don't have much of an option on.
So anyway, while I started out without any opinion on this Kavanaugh, Thursday's hearing changed that a bit for me. It wasn't Blazy-Ford or what ever her name is. I don't know what she is or isn't remembering. :confused: 36 years is a long time to suddenly want to hold someone accountable for something short of murder that happened in teen years. :rolleyes:
What disturbed me about Thursday's hearing was Kavanaugh's demeanor. He was angry, partisan and attacked those questioning him. Some might say anyone wrongly accused would be angry. I don't think so. Supreme court justices are supposed to be the best of us. The best of the best. They have to be level headed and hopefully fair-minded. Kavanaugh clearly wasn't.
And while I am still not rooting against him at this point, I believe he is done and it really has nothing to do with these assult accusations. The FBI is likely to come back saying they were unable to confirm or prove that these incidents didn't happen. That would be good for Kavanaugh.
But what should be bad and disqualifying is that he clearly lied about his drinking, drinking games, the meaning of devils triangle, the meaning of what he wrote on his year book and the meaning of other terms. And none of that should have even mattered. He should have just said, yeah I was a bit of a dick in High school and even in to college. Drank too much (just as most college males do). It didn't stop him from getting into Yale law school, becoming an attorney and federal judge. So in a way it should have been a success story.
But where the problem comes in is the lying about all this crap that just didn't matter and was not by itself disqualifying. And specifically, lying to congress. That is a crime. He could very well be charged with perjury. Probably should be, likely will not IMO, but it should disqualify him from the supreme court and maybe even his current position as a federal judge. He lied about really stupid shit that just didn't matter, over and over and THAT is not going to be hard for the FBI to determine.
Frankly the guy is a goofball. He seems sort of stuck in his teenage years. Because it is usually late in the day, when I get around to taking a look at WoV, to see if there was anything posted that might possibly be beneficial to me, I get to see the member visits totals at the very end of the day. Last Saturday for instances 135. Sunday 144. The prior weekend both days in low 140's. These are new lows at WoV....135 the lowest I have seen. Most weekdays are slightly higher usually just around 160, which is still way off the daily average of 300+ from just a couple years ago when mickey and I were there. :D
Since we are asking Shack questions.....I have one. How is QFIT doing contributing positively to your forum Mike? Looks like he has posted half dozen posts this year, mostly promoting something on his site, two after my name was mentioned to add something negative. Yep it was a good choice to ban who you called "a good contributing member" because QFIT, who never had any intention of contributing positively demanded it of you.
As for mickey, what a mistake. As anyone who reads this site can clearly see, mickeycrimm is one of the best posters in the gambling community. His posts and contributions benefit many. He is a huge asset to any site that he participates on. I said at the time, it was a mistake to not 'find' a way that would allow mickey to continue to contribute in such a positive manner. And one of the other mods suggested such a way, but Michael Shackleford couldn't be flexible enough to allow it. Mike is very rigged and inflexible, which is not the trait of a successful person. As a result mickey shares his wisdom here, in this shithole, rather than a forum where many could benefit.
And oh by the way, we all make mistakes, bad judgements, bad calls. The really telling part is when a person is unwilling to attempt to correct suck a mistake, with the benefit of hindsight and instead looks for a reason to double down on his initial mistake for the sake of his ego. I think that applies to Mr. Shackleford in both these cases.
