Can you imagine how horrible one's life must be, how low of an opinion they have of themself, not to dare to seek love from another?
So sad...
Probably not an unfortunate condition. You don't miss it if you have no desire for it.
I think of it the way I see men. I have zero sexual or romantic attraction to them. Gay guys might say to me that I'm "missing out" regarding having sex or relationships with men, but to me it has zero appeal at all, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
So I see asexuals just being that way regarding both females AND males. They see no sexual/romantic appeal in either one, so they don't feel like they're missing anything. In fact, this frees them from the burden and expense of romantic relationships, pursuing sex, etc. Sure, they don't have a romantic partner, and they probably don't end up having kids (though the latter can be done), but again, if the whole thing has no appeal to you, then you're not really missing out.
I admit that, being a straight guy, it is hard to picture what life would be like if I had no attraction to women. But if I didn't, it probably wouldn't bother me to go without sex or relationships.
