Alan, I really do want you to continue playing after wining, really I do. That way you'll be forced to keep on working....maybe even get a 2nd job. The more you pour into the SS system for us, the longer it'll remain solvent.

You're 100% wrong about expecting you'd have had the same $2500 give-back had you left ahead about $8k. You're falling into the same trap as the AP's are always in when you say that. Do you know the difference between theory and reality? No one knows what'll happen tomorrow, which is why you should always take the good fortune you've been blessed with, aka REALITY--and immediately leave. I think you're fully aware of that, but it is not nearly as powerful as the craving to keep on playing. Remember, lots of W2G's with even more losses = a thoroughly messed up AGI, and we all know what that means. Intelligent gambling is the key. But as you say, to each their own.

You missed it Rob. The question really is what if I had quit after hitting the $4k royal? In that case, I would have missed the $4k quad aces.

It appears you're getting lost in your own story. You said you had to stick around to get the 2nd load of free play. Nothing wrong with that. But you didn't have to give up anything. You said you hit the royal in the 1st load, and the Aces in the 2nd. Apparently, instead of being happy with both, you either played on after being finished with free play and after both hits, or you couldn't sit still in-between. Dumping $2500 made no sense, and trying to justify it makes even less.

Answer the question Rob. You'll have some time to think this over because you have been suspended for one month.

When you come back (and if you do come back) I will want you to explain how you know when to quit? How do you know when you have won all you are going to win? How do you know you are not going to win more?

Also please explain if you've ever been ahead but kept playing and won even more?

Hi all, I'm a new member and thought i'd show my best wins so far.

I've only been playing VP for perhaps 8 months or so and so far I think i've been very lucky.

I accidentally played a $100 hand at Mirage and scored this straight flush on the first hand (and only hand at that denomination!):



I also played on a different trip $100 in a $1 DDB machine and on the very first hit got the royal (sorry for the bad pic, this is at Mirage again at the bar where the atrium beams light onto the machines):



and then I went to Winstar in OK and hit this within the first 10 hands:



Wish I'd been playing dollars.

That's it for now, have a Vegas trip planned in October so i'll post after that if I have any to show!

Hi rymetymeuk welcome and thanks for posting. Tell us more about that multi denomination machine? I am guessing that you can choose the amount of money you wish to play on each hand? And when you got the hand pay, did they ask you to "play it off" and if so what happened? Did you play another hand at 100 coins?

the way it happened is that I went to a 0.25 machine and worked my way up to $135 from $100, and then saw the 1-100 VP game. Me being a noob thought it was going to let me play 1 to 100 hands, so a multi play and in my confusion I kept pressing the "play 5" button. it incremented up to the $100 and then dealt, and I was quite shocked to see i'd just dropped $100! haha well it worked out well in the end.

To the best of my memory I just cashed it out, but I honestly can't remember. I was in a slight state of shock at the time!

TI & Mirage are famous for those 100-credit dollar machines. TI has them at their main huge bar, and I've seen many customers lose it all, accidentally, on their first hand.

Caesars once had a 100-line $1 machine that I would play one-credit per line. Once by accident I hit max-bet for $500 but luckily was dealt a pair of kings. Made a small profit. Never again.

I used to play the 50-line $1 game at Caesars years ago ($250 per push of the button) but I gave that up pretty quickly. But the weekend about 10 years ago when I hit two progressive $5 royals at Caesars I also played that 50-line machine DDB and was dealt three aces with a kicker. I made the mistake of holding the kicker. I did get quad aces on two lines, and got a pay in excess of $4000 but I probably cost myself a lot of money holding that kicker instead of just the three aces.

I don't doubt it at all Rob! The woman who hand paid me said some guy lost thousands on it, and was surprised I had held the 4 to a straight flush. That surprised me as it was clearly the correct play, perhaps she wasn't a VP player.

Do you guys practice on VP for Winners software? if so, do you play perfectly? I'm asking because I see you guys winning some huge jackpots, and wondered if you honed your skills over many years using software like that or not.

I used software some years ago -- and yes it helps. But I learned primarily from John Grochowski's book on video poker strategy.

I like to throw a hundy into a 100 play machine at .10 so $50- bet. Hit the buttons twice and cash out. It's fun.

ok thanks Alan, I'll order that book. The software has helped me a lot but i'm still not as accurate as I feel I should be to play $5 or higher machines. I've had terrible luck at DDB too, is there a rule of thumb for required bankroll?

My rule is: bring as little as possible to the casino, take as much home as you can.

There is a strict rule for bankroll requirement per session if you play any of my strategies, and when playing as an AP it's 11X your denomination. Of course, that latter part has nothing to do at all with playing one session or even one visit to LV or wherever, and everything to do with ridiculous long-term play. In other words, it's meaningless.

I used Dean Zamzow's software to learn. It was the best ever then and still is.

What does this mean? If I play a $1 Bonus game its 11 X $5 = $55 ?? I don't think so.

11X means 11 * the denomination you play. If it's dollars and you are playing a 100% return game, the requirement "not to go broke " is $11,000 in the "long term". It means absolutely nothing because it's calculated using math and play into infinity. Many players have gone broke using this nonsense.

This still doesn't make sense. 11 times (x) a $1 game still equals $55. So would you please explain yourself more clearly?

Sorry Alan, I must have been hurrying. It's 11,000 times the denomination. In quarters, that's $2750.
