You'll never get back equal to or more than you put into it. It's a scam.

To date, you must admit, even at at deficit, the SS checks have been paid, through 75 plus years. So, to date, SS is not a scam. By math, if someone wanted their SS contributions at an early age (21 yeas old) , it is an equivalent of four years at age 66 1/2 on SS payroll (to break even). If you do no not live to 70 years old, it is a bad beat (for the individual taking SS). But the spouse can claim the higher benefits. That adds to the what if question. SS is a plus if a couple can get past 60 years of age.

A scam usually has one entity taking advantage over another individual. Social Security does not do this. If this was a scam, they would be worried about a deficit. Again, I will repeat the statement, if Social Security was a scam they would have a surplus and indiscretions would be published (not that a surplus is wrong).

My personal raw breakeven is 70 1/2 years old. I hope I add to the deficit. I want to be "above equal".

SS is also an insurance policy against becoming disabled. Hordes of people drawing it long before the age of 62. SS yielded a surplus for decades. The extra money went into the general fund and was blown by politicians never to be recovered.

If people were allowed to cash out what they paid in then paying in 2020 dollars for money they paid in 1990 would be a good deal....for the government.

There is a problem with private investment instead of making SS payments. Only a third of Amricans have private retirement accounts. So most people only have SS to rely on in old age. If workers were given the option of making their own investments how many of them wouldn't invest a dime and instead spend all the money. When they reach old age they would have nothing and so would become a ward of the state that taxpayers will have to fund.

Whether or not any other retirement system is instituted it must be mandatory to make payments toward retirement or else....

I went back and forth between NBC and ABC. I watched Savannah Guthrie grill Trump unmercilessly. About 50 questions were asked and 40 of them were by her. That's not how a town hall is supposed to work. The audience is supposed to ask the questions not the moderator. Guthrie actually turned into a debater and debated the president. Not her job. And he was on the ball against democrat operative Guthrie.

Then I would flip over to ABC to the Joe Biden session with his THERAPIST, George Stephanopoulas. Joe was slow and stumbling and at times incomprehensible, but George sat there stoicly quiet while Joe attempted to answer the soft ball questions by democrat supporters in the audience. He never once interrupted Joe. And the scripted questions were soft enough that Joe didn't totally shit his pants.

But Joe was never asked about Ukraine and Burisma. It's a no brainer that corrupt Burisma execs needed a way to get Victor Shorokin, the top Ukraine prosecutor off their asses. Shorokin is on record saying he intended to file charges against them. Burisma hired totally unqualified Hunter Biden for an astronomical amount of money in order to get his father, Joe Biden, to influence Shorokin's investigation.

Within the year Joe made his famous quid pro quo with Ukraine. Get rid of the prosecutor or you get no money. Joe wanted the prosecutor that was investigating the company his son worked for fired and bragged about getting his wish.

Democrats tried to impeach Trump for telling Ukraine he wanted certain actions taken, which was not true. But here Joe Biden is on film admitting to the quid pro quo and corrupt democrats don't give a rats ass. There is no telling what all Burisma has on Hunter and Joe in order to keep them in line. They are clearly Burisma assets. If Joe wins he should be impeached.

Yep agreed. I said I wouldn't discuss politics with Mr. Crimm but since we're in agreement. I don't particularly like the idea of SS, but if you don't have it then people will wind up old and completely broke. So either you let them be basically homeless and 80 or you give them some sort of government assistance.

The way SS's taxes pay for the current people, it really isn't any different from another tax but it has been framed as not being socialism because everyone pays into it. I feel that is disingenuous though, but still believe something like SS is needed.

I basically operate under the assumption that SS will not be available when I am older, but it is clear there are many people who either won't save up or would spend it all before they die. It is a weird thing running through downside of life off a fixed amount of money with nothing to fall back on. A bit hard to budget to say the least. I'd still rather pay the SS tax and not see elderly people begging for money everywhere I turn. :(

There is a problem with private investment instead of making SS payments. Only a third of Amricans have private retirement accounts. So most people only have SS to rely on in old age. If workers were given the option of making their own investments how many of them wouldn't invest a dime and instead spend all the money. When they reach old age they would have nothing and so would become a ward of the state that taxpayers will have to fund.

Whether or not any other retirement system is instituted it must be mandatory to make payments toward retirement or else....

I agree with this but the time I am specifically referring to is his return from the hospital. He walks up some steps then stands and really puffs his chest out. You can tell he is having troubles breathing but he also just walked up a rather large flight of steps. I don't think he's leveling that deep. His acting is in showing his strength and trying to hide his breathing issues.

That's an excellent point Mickey - Biden's path to the Vice Presidency and then to the position of presidential nominee of the Democratic Party is only achieved by getting owned/comprised. With Trump, he did not have to compromise himself (or at least nowhere near to the extent that Biden did) to get to the position of POTUS. Today it lists Florida's count as 3,662 and PA's as 1.579. New deaths are 85 for Florida and 28 for PA.

Masks don't seem to do much to keep you from virus but they definitely slow down transmission to a high degree. Studies repeatedly seem to reinforce this. lol @ Boz and his science.

Doing something relatively minor for the sake of others in general is not a concept the modern conservative deals very well with. It is all about one's rugged self and fuck everyone else.
