Time is a mixture of the past, present, and future, and, so, neither becomes fundamentally distinguishable from the other. Which isn't to say that time doesn't know where it's going as a verifiable sort and degree of faith, by which things, still, are random except for evening out (over the relatively short term).
In other words, I won't give up the future, for the past, any more than the past, for the future. Sort of like saying that I won't give up what I'm going through now, for the world.
