The deuce bank was back up today. Got in about 1500 hands before it went at $10,202. Lose $355. Cheap shot.
Fortune Cup - Konami's modern answer to Sigma Derby. Got some pics today.

I've seen Sigma Derby at MGM, and wondered: does skill really play much of a part in it, or is it just random chance?
No idea how the horses are controlled, but if two players did exactly the same thing at the same time would the horses be even at the end, or would the machine's programing influence the result?
This comes to mind as what you need to beat that game.

Hwy. 2, Montana/North Dakota stateline just south of the Canadian border. Home of the most remote 2/5 NLH games in the country. Game was gangbusters during the Bakken Oilfied boom.
Here's what the neighborhood around stateline looks like. We in the middle of nowhere, bro.

Great pics Mickey. Question... When traveling and signing up for cards, do you use a local address or a distant address with the players club?
Looks like a relaxing drive. Heading west through the mountains. I'll have to check out 90 on the atlas. I don't think I've ever been on 90. The northernmost cross-country I've done was 70, I think. Same with train routes. I think Amtrak follows 70, for the most part. So I've never seen this part of the country.
With Amtrak the California Zephyr runs between Chicago and San Francisco. The route goes through Denver. The Empire Builder runs between Chicago and Seattle. The route is well north of I-90 in Montana. It runs along Hwy 2 the northernmost US hwy in America. It stops at Glacier Park.

Home again.
Just curious as to whether you earned substanitially more money (after expenses) on your cross-country gambling trip than you typically would have earned had you stayed home and gambled as usual?
Mickey-is there a reason you don't do Vegas? I would assume by the volume of games you could find something.
Last year, I was driving from Choteau, Montana to Livingston, Montana with the family, during a road trip. We had just been in Canada for week, crossed the border, stayed the night in Choteau, and were on our way to Yellowstone.
So this was just a driving day -- but it was only 223 miles, so I wanted something to do for us besides just driving from one hotel to another. Unfortunately, the tourist pickings are slim along that route, even for someone like me who likes to find off-the-beaten-path stuff.
I figured we'd have more luck finding something to do if we drove through Great Falls and then through the Lewis and Clark National Forest, rather than through Helena.
I also noticed that Great Falls had a "Great Springs State Park", which had a giant natural spring and a hatchery, and looked mildly interesting.
We went there, but it was pretty damn hot outside, and no one wanted to stay very long. Also, the hatchery was mostly closed. The spring was somewhat interesting, though.
I insisted we drive around to the other side of the Missouri river and see the dam and "waterfall" it created. There was even a way you could walk onto a little island on the river, but again, this was only interesting for a short time. It also wasn't really meant for tourists, as it was a functional electricity generation station.
Finally we bounced, and everyone was kind of annoyed with me for insisting we stop there, though I thought it was still better than nothing.
The Lewis and Clark forest was more interesting, and we stumbled upon an interesting hike and small waterfall there.
We ended up staying the night in a weird hotel in Livingston with an old-school elevator. The hotel itself was over 100 years old, and in fact each room was actually two rooms in the old hotel. There was a sink both in the bedroom and in the "living room", but only one toilet/shower area. Presumably the toilet/shower was shared between two rooms when the hotel first opened in the early 1900s.
Montana is a strange place. I do give them credit for not having any sales tax, though a few local municipalities (like West Yellowstone) have added their own sales tax.
Speaking of West Yellowstone, it used to be a culinary wasteland, with a collection of awful restaurants only rivaled by Bryce Canyon and Tusayan (Grand Canyon).
Somehow, through the magic of Yelp, we actually found two fairly good restaurants while staying there. One was a BBQ place, the other was a steak/seafood place. We were shocked.
I've spent the night in Choteau too. David Letterman has had a ranch at Choteau for years. He was in Choteau when 9/11 occurred. He mentioned Choteau on his first show back after 9/11/2001. Here's what he had to say about the town. Go to the 5:52 mark.

Dan, you must have stayed in the Murray Hotel in Livingston. Believe it or not, Anthony Bourdain did a Montana show and stayed at the Murray when he was there. The dish he covered was the pasty, brought to Montana by Cornish miners in the 19th century, and is still served today. I stay at the Econo Lodge when I'm there. If you were in Livingston you must have drove through Paradise Valley to get to Yellowstone. Peter Fonda, Jeff Bridges and Dennis Quaid have homes there. So did Margot Kidder until she died. One of the most scenic valleys in Montana.

Maybe it's just me but keep posting Mickey. This thread is almost an escape from the crap on most of the other threads. Don't you all get tired of arguing about the same thing over and over.
Mickey - I'm looking at potential travel in southern OH/IN/KY. Do you mind sharing what kind of offers you got from the play you did when you were in that area? I remember you went to at least Jack in Cincinnati and Tropicana in Evansville.
I get offers from places where it's lucrative enough for me to hang out for a few days or weeks and run enough action to get those offers. So far OH/IN/KY is not one of those places. I'm vulturing plays which means I don't run that much action. The players that are sitting in the seats playing for long periods get those offers. I'm generally working 20 to 25% edges but some days I might not run even $1000 in action. On the good days I might run $3000 in action. It depends on how many advantage plays I get. This kind of action doesn't generate a lot of comp and offers.
I just requested that Dan remove Rob's posts from this thread. This is a neutral thread and no need for trolling in it. There are plenty of other threads for Rob to troll me. He doesn't have to do it here.
I just added a feature to kick users from threads.
The first person kicked was Rob.
Expect this to be used many other times in other threads where people are disrupting.
Yes, I stayed at the Murray Hotel and drove through Paradise Valley.
Murray Hotel was very interesting. A little bit weird, but interesting.
I also remember it had a strange "half floor", something like between the 2nd and 3rd. You could reach it by the staircase. I think it had some computers up there, like for a little business center.
What?!? I won't get to read the same bickering in every thread anymore? That's huge! I propose cleaning up hot sucker.
Thanks, regnis. I'll keep 'em coming. I'm getting some shots of casinos I haven't been to before. I just finished sweeping out the casinos of Montana. It'll take a few months for plays to build back up there. I have some great spots to go to in the Southwest but the current weather is just to hot for me there. So I chose to do something else to kill the rest of the summer. Fort Yates in North Dakota was just the start of an extended road trip. I always clear out of an area before I put any pics up. Don't want anyone on my front or back trail. I'm starting to take more than just one screenshot of the places but I have to be careful on the inside of these casinos. I've been warned many times about taking pictures.

Excellent work MC. Standing O. Man. Post #26. You look exactly like Bill Belichek. Too bad that guy got in front your photo. LOL
My daughter started a tradition to visit somewhere new together every year. Steve Prefontaine in Coos Boy was interesting. His home, his school, the museum. There is a roadside monument where people still leave items from where the accident occured. If your into track, there is a great pizza place near U of O. Dedicated to Pre.
Also, Zion National Park in Utah was a very cool place. God's creation at HIS finest.

Mickey, how about a picture of Legendary Waters Casino on the shores of Lake Superior in WI. I have yet to see the new casino they built a few years ago.

Ah, the "Hole in the Wall Casino." That was the name of the place before they built the new casino as shown in your picture and renamed it. I had my biggest one day win ever there, then they kicked me out. I do miss that place. Here is picture of the old place.

Rather than just filling up your tanks, I always wondered how someone could take advantage of low gas prices. Perhaps a special type gas card where you lock in the price from when you bought the card and would good up to 1 or 2 years or something like that.
Perhaps there is a way to do it via the market.
Yes you can do this. You can lock in the price for 42,000 gallons at a time buying a futures contract on the commodity exchange. You can buy contracts over a period of months, selling shares to participants in your futures club... sorta like a "time share" but instead of days in a hotel, it's gallons delivered at a certain time.
I don't know anyone who actually does this but your post gave me the idea.
Find enough participants to use 42,000 gallons (one contract for 1,000 barrels @ 42g/bl and you've got your own gas coop.
MC, when you say you had to clear the area before divulging the location, would that be because you fear that security might ID you based upon your postings on this board, including your pic?
It would be quite a stretch to imagine that they'd be that dialed in but I guess stranger things have happened.
No. Its for my own security. I don't want my posting on the internet to be the cause of getting mugged, hijacked, robbed, whatever you want to call it. So I don't let anyone know my whereabouts. I never say where I'm going. I never say where I'm at. The only thing I will post is where I've been.

I've experienced exactly zero percent heat while exploiting their vulturable games. The only thing was I was warned a few times for taking pictures inside the casinos so I mostly quit doing it. But when I find a new vulturable game I'm definitely going to take a pic of it so I don't forget it. And I'll occasionally take a pic of a jackpot.

I think it was sometime in September I was at Winstar, Thackerville, Oklahoma a couple days vulturing machines. I don't run much action vulturing so I decided to beef it up with the video poker to see if I generate any mail. They got 50 cent and $1 9/6 Jacks and NSUD in the London and Rome bartops. I ran an 11K wager, hit the deuces twice and left with a $900 video poker win. They sent me 3 two-day packages for November. Since I was in the area I decided to take it easy and just play some video poker for a couple of days.
I was a hundred miles away from Winstar on Oct 31. The first package was dated Nov 1 to 11. I gave them a call and they had no problem with me coming in a day early so I made the drive. I had to drive off a good ways from the casino to get the entire resort into the picture. It's about a mile and a half from one end of the property to the other. It's a long narrow casino shaped like an inverted 7. They bill themselves as the largest casino in the world, about 8400 machines. The hotel towers are on the north end of the property. Located on I-35 about 80 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth which is their major target market.
I reserved a room in the casino tower as it's closest to the casino. The good video poker is in the London and Rome sections which are close to the hotel tower. Plus the buffet is in the Madrid section between London and Rome. Everything convenient for a video poker player. No having to walk to the other end of the casino. The parking at the Madrid entrance is closest to the hotel tower so that's where I parked.
When I came in the Madrid entrance I seen this sign. 40 points is a $1200 wager. Breakfast the next morning would be free.
I checked in and went to the room:
After setting the room up it was time to go check the progressives in the London and Rome bartops. I planned on playing either the 50 cent level or the $1 level depending on which was the best value. The best play was in the London bartops at the $1 level. The royal was at $5655. NSUD and 9/6 are pretty close at that number, less than a tenth. I decided to go with the 9/6 for the lower volatility and play the 3-card royals over the high pairs to drop the royal odds down in the 33,000's. That would put me at a 3% theoretical drain.
The London Bar. About two dozen machines in a circular bar. The progessive wasn't getting that much action most of the time, just on swing shift. Winstar had sent me $40 a week in freeplay along with the hotel packages. After playing for awhile this little cherry lights up on the card reader. I touched it and there was another $35 in freeplay. It kept happening while I was playing. I wound up downloading $195 in freeplay from that cherry the two days I was there plus the regular freeplay.
The royal hit the next evening at $5850 so I was through with the video poker. I ran rough booking a net loss $705 on 16K in action. That's a 4.4% drop. But I also played off $200 in freeplay so the real drop was 5.6%. Lack of quads. I went to vulturing and picked up $267 by the next morning. Then it was off to better spots for vulturing. Nice little vacation though. They sent me another 3 packages for December. But I've figured out if you've got a track record all you have to do is call them and ask for a comped room.
