My answer is No. If I am not feeling well, I take the day off and or go home early if I need to. This rarely happens with me, but my spouse who is my chauffer sometimes is having a bad day health-wise, so we knock off early. But I don't do so strictly because I am losing. The cards don't know that I am losing, so there I no reason the next round or session won't be a winning one. I am playing with an advantage. I often joke about the "blackjack gods" or "variance gods" smiling or frowning on me. But if you really believe that and alter you play because of it, you have crossed some sort of voodoo line in my opinion. Although I am not a math geek kind of guy like a Shackleford, or blackjack guys Schlesinger or Wattenberger, I believe in the math, not karma, or biorythems or stuff. If I have an advantage I play until there is another reason to stop, not strictly based on having a bad day.
And if I want to take a day off and relax at the pool or take in a movie or I do it. That is one of the benefits of self-employment. I try not to do so too often, because you can get into a bad habit, but occasionally, I call an audible and take a unscheduled vacation day.
A fanny pack is the best thing for an all-day casino trip.
Simple and easy.
They have some nicer black leather fanny packs (I have one somewhere) If you wear a slightly oversized dark colored dress shirt and leave it untucked over the fanny pack, its hard to even notice you have one on.
Fanny packs are coming back in now.
A nice leather jacket with lots of pockets that Zip-up should solve most peoples problems. It's usually cold in the casinos anyways.
I know all you APs need to keep your identities secret but for the rest of us credit lines and taking checks to the bank work great.
It seems to me that some of the guys talking about this don't claim to be AP's. There had been similar conversations on WOV and many participants were not AP's
If a tourist/gambler comes to LV with 10k (even if he takes out a line of credit at one casino) and he's casino hopping from place to place, do you expect him to get a line of credit at each location and whenever he hits a jackpot just take a check?
When your son supposedly hit all 5 Royals, did he take a check each time and use lines of credit when he was playing?
I have put up front money numerous times and its a pain in the ass to take out markers and deal with all that BS. I mostly only did it because they were giving something extra for doing so. Or I was going out to do some fun stuff for the night and didn't want to carry much cash with me. Or I wanted to have a way to get at some extra cash 24/7.
FYI. An AP shouldn't leave front money at a location he is AP'ing, he might have to fight to get it back. They can even refuse to cash in your slot tickets and chips.
Some gamblers don't want to have anything to do with lines of credit because they know it could end financially bad for them.
And you are correct, there are times when you want to remain as anonymous as you can.
Each royal was $4,000 which was not enough for a check and he immediately started playing $5 or $10 VP where unfortunately he lost it and had to start over.
Any payment of $20K or more I not only take a check but I leave. It's my stop loss. Sure the VP machines don't know that I just hit a royal but I do.
And the best part of a credit line: I typically arrive in Vegas with fifty or sixty dollars in my wallet. Why deal with fanny packs? And yes, my leather jacket does have interior pockets with zippers. And the casinos are cold so wearing a jacket, even a windbreaker in the summer, will not draw attention.
My biggest problem with big checks is the bank putting a hold on it.
Thats good you walk when you hit something good. When you are playing -EV stuff its a good idea to have a stop win/loss since it means you are exposing less money to the HA. I'm sure some guys might be tempted move up to a higher bet level and give it all back in no time at all. An AP should have an overall stopping point just so they can reevaluate what limits they can reasonably afford without going broke. There's also a chance something is wrong(Chinese deks might be in play).
As you mentioned, your bank may put a hold on your check. An AP might be sweating it during that hold. I haven't heard of a casino putting a stop payment on a check but I think it's best to just get the cash in hand unless you think there's a safty issue.
Frankly, I think there is always a safety issue with cash.
I have to say that the only time I was asked if I wanted a private payoff on a jackpot was at Pechanga some years ago. I hit a $20,000 royal. They came to my machine and asked me how I wanted the payoff. I asked for cash (because I was married at the time and the rule was half was mine and half was hers and I liked to surprise her with the money on the dresser in the morning). Then they asked me if I wanted to go into a side room by the cage for the payoff. Another time it was only a $10,000 pay on DDB, and two HUGE security guards surrounded me and the payer so that no one could see the transaction -- but obviously anyone could tell a cash pay was being made. (By the way I offered to tip the security guards and they declined saying it was against the casino rules for them to accept tips.)
The reality is getting cash at any casino puts you at risk. People watch. They watch you at the tables, they watch you at the machines and they watch you at the cage. Don't you think 90% of the cars arriving in Vegas or headed northbound on the I-15 to Vegas have at least one person with several thousand dollars in their pockets? Same is true with plane passengers: what do you think the cash amount is of a planeload from LAX or Burbank arriving in Vegas???
Not alot of talk about civil forfeiture but I used to listen to a libertarian radio show thats no longer on here....and there would be people talking about nightmare stories of police depts funding trips to Hawaii for police conventions, or other personal or department use. It seems the old speed trap giving 60 dollar tickets just takes too long. cars, real estate, contents of a wallet....all fair game. And the crazy thing is YOU have to prove you are innocent. The burden is on YOU.
There is frequent discussions about civil forfeiture on various blackjack and AP sites. It is a frequent discussion. Bob Nersesian also speaks of it often when a guest on GWAE.
That "proving" part is nasty business. Can cost you a small fortune to get your own money bank. I carry a letter from Bob stating that I am a professional blackjack player as an explanation of why I may have some cash on me. Never needed to use it and there is no guarantee that would have any influence on crooked and / or uninformed "law" officers. Just sort of an attempt to head off a situation before it occurs.
Once funds are confiscated, you are going to pay either way. Bob can usually get the money returned...or most of the money. I say that because it seems there are frequent discrepancies in what various AP's claim they had confiscated and the official record by law enforcement of what was confiscated. So "skimming" or paying an attorney, you are going to pay one way or another. :(
One would think that cops in and around Las Vegas see a lot of weird people carrying a lot of cash: naturally, the town is filled with glitzy casinos.
Contrast that with a traffic stop at 4:00AM in bumfuck Kansas, finding a horde of cash in a car driven by a wetback.
Yes its talked about among gamblers on gambling boards. But there is no public outcry or scrutiny . I listen to alot of talk radio, and only heard it on a small libertarian show. You never hear Limbaugh, hannity, and the like talk about it. I never carry large amounts of money, it doesnt effect me, but I am troubled by it as it smells like what you hear that goes on in banana republic countries. There is no oversight. you know more than me based on your trade.....and its not the topic of this thread.....so I will stop it here.....so as not to hijack.
You are an attorney regnis?
That is why it is better to try to avoid such a situation in the first place. The letter, which is something Bob recommends, hopefully immediately alerts law enforcement that, you are someone who is going to pursue the matter, so it isn't just going to go away quietly. Also the name Bob Nersesian, has meaning to Las Vegas and Nevada jurisdictions. Hopefully that too is a warning that there is going to be a light shined (<-shined?) on this action.
Similarly with traveling. I let the banks move my money. An account at one of the major national type banks does the trick. Some AP's complain about lost time when reaching the destination to getting your funds, especially arriving at night or on a weekend. There is also an issue for high stakes players because they have to notify the bank in advance to have enough cash. (I don't have that problem at my stakes) Even so, these are a small inconvenience in my mind.
Besides airport TSA, you have taxidrivers, people at the airport. Travel is stressful enough without carrying a shitload of money. One time when I was returning to Vegas from a trip east, a guy going through security a couple people in front of me, announced to TSA that he was traveling to Vegas and has significant money. They had him hold it (a big brick of cash) in his hands, over his head as he went through the scanner. WHAT....A ....FREAKING....SCHMUCK! Might as well of been holding a "please rob me" sign.
Doesn't mean there aren't crooked cops in Metro. I have respect for the police, but there are some bad apples everywhere.
So what part of Kansas would the municipality of "Bumfuck" be located? ;) And why are there "wetbacks" in Kansas? That's a long swim! ;)
OK, how often do gamblers traveling to, from or through Las Vegas get their cash seized by the authorities via civil forfeiture?
Is it common, is it a unicorn, or something between?
Probably little hue and cry about it on national media because it is not happening frequently enough to be newsworthy.
Probably closer to unicorn, but on the other hand, drunk gamblers, maybe having gotten in a fight at a night club....probably more common than you think that they come up missing some money.
This is going to sound conspiratory, but the Vegas media under reports most crimes involving the tourist districts. If you watch the local news or read the papers, you will see lots of reports of different crimes in the residential areas, but few mention of much on the strip or even downtown, unless it is something fairly significant, like a shooting or stabbing. I firmly believe there is an effort to protect our "bread and butter".
If I absolutely must take some real money, anything more than a thousand walk-around money, I am having it buried in my carry-on, or packpack, that I try not to let get out of eyesight going through security. I would NEVER do the hold the money above my head thing....even in an envelope. Does Romes really suggest this? Did he suggest this on GWAE or something?
I've seen posts before about gamblers being stopped at police checkpoints and for one reason or another cash was seized. But I've never seen statistics. Are there a reported number of cases? Are receipts issued at the time of seizure?
Perhaps this will shed some light on your question and maybe it won't. I hardly have been reading any forums in the last week or so and most likely will not be participating very much in the near future. Some reasons are because I realize that I am not able to really educate anyone on these forums and if someone is listening and getting educated by my posts that basically means I am giving away too much free information.
I don't know if you play poker but I am sure that most of you have in one time or another played this game since it is one of the most popular games in America and it has been that way for over a century. Try to imagine that you play poker 8 to 12 hours every day and you play with some friendly, wild billionaire who does not care about money and buys in 300 dollars in some 1/2 NL game. This guy plays with you every day from 8 to 12 hours and goes all in every hand blind no matter what. So you sit here and rake in the money day after day. For the year you are up 8k in the game but this is a bad day for you. You are stuck 8500 dollars and it has only been two hours into your session. This fellow player is having fun and has no desire to leave and promises to stay another 7 hours. You feel fresh with plenty of sleep and have no problem sitting and waiting for your next big hand to race against this player knowing full well you have the best of it going in against two randoms each time you race it down. So, do you leave the game because your down 8500 for the day and now 500 for the year? Perhaps you do leave but it makes sense that you should never leave until the other player leaves and you come back to the game when he is in the game the next day. You have no reason to quit just because your having a bad day racing 10% + winners in your favor.
Many times when I am playing I have a .5% or 1% advantage and it is a grind but when the days come around that I find something that is 10% or better you can imagine I never leave the game until I can't stay awake. I have been on plays like that doing 20 hour sessions over and over again. You never leave the game because of fluctuations. Of course this goes the same way for me I never leave because I am up 3k for the day and it has only been an hour into my session. I am not playing to win a certain amount. I am playing to make a certain percentage of total coin in which will work its way out within the week/month/year. The more you play the more you win!
At Hollywood Park casino there are often these all in blind players who show up at the $100 and $200 buy in games. So I know exactly what you're talking about.
The problem becomes risk. Do you call their all in with your AK knowing that by itself it's not a winning hand? And do you risk calling with JJ fearing he will turn over K2 and a K will flop?
When real money is at stake theory sometimes takes a back seat.
Of course this is a rare example, but it actually happened. An all in action player shows up at the $200 buy in game and takes the blinds for four or five hands, and shows he had nothing. On the next hand (hand five or six) he goes all in blind again -- but this time he has FIVE callers. The cards are flipped, and Mr All In shows cowboys, hits a king on the flop and laughs... and the table is broken.
Sh-t happens.
Rand Paul is leading the charge in Congress on changing the civil asset forfeiture laws. But Jeff Sessions just gave law enforcement the greenlight to go after the money again. Clarence Thomas has voiced his concerns about civil asset forfeiture saying there have been eggregious abuses. There was a case recently that gained publicity in Wyoming where the cops took $90,000 from someone. A Wyoming judge ordered the return of the money.
Was it an accused drug dealer or a gambler?
Exactly how many cases involve gamblers going to and from casinos?
Since you decided to not understand or accept my poker analogy I will try one more attempt with you. I am currently painting my walls and having a conversation with my wall that is pretty interesting so I will try to make this quick so I can get back to my wall.
Let us pretend for an example that you and I are going to flip a quarter every day and we can quit whenever we want each day. This will not be a trick quarter and no monkey business what so ever. It will just be you and I flipping a quarter and each time it lands on Heads I will pay you 110 dollars. Each time the quarter lands on Tails you will pay me 100 dollars. Now let us pretend for the first two weeks of the year you are beating me out of 8000 dollars. On day 15 you are having a really bad run and you have given back the 8000 dollars to me plus another 500 so you are down 500 for the year. Are you going to stop flipping this quarter with me because you are down 8500 for the day? I mean you have the edge every time we flip. Wouldn't you want to flip this quarter with me 24 hours a day 7 days a week until the end of time? The same goes for someone who is playing at an advantage in the Casino. No matter the fluctuations of being up or down each day we know that in the end we will make so much per hour, per month, per year. We also know the more we play the more we make in the way of all the extras go along.
Alan believes that the long run does not apply to him, as he only plays in the present, i.e. in the short run; the future is too far away to worry about, right, Alan?
I don't have enough for the long run, sorry.
Gosh, I hate to disappoint you but I wouldn't bet $100 on the flip of a coin. This is probably why I hate blackjack. I hate the idea of losing my bet based on the flip of a card. Ironically I'll accept the roll of two dice, but that's something I've grown to accept. I just hate coin flips and card flips, and $100 per decision is too much for me.
Since I have your attention, why don't you explain how you can have "expected value" AFTER a bet has been resolved? As I mentioned, even on the Wizard of Odds "expected value" is defined as the value of a bet before it's resolved. To be specific, this comes from the Wizard's site:
Expected Value
Expected value is how much you can expect to lose (negative) or win (positive) from a bet. For example the expected value in American double-zero roulette is -5.26%. That means you can expect to lose 5.26% of every dollar you bet.
In your explanations, you have maintained that you have +EV even from the bets you lose. Please explain.
I decided to take a quick break and let some paint dry and check in on this site before I apply another coat. My walls are very thick and I just realized how thick they are.
I don't understand. You do play 5 dollar Video Poker... you have played 25 dollar Video Poker as well since I heard you say something about hitting two 100k Royals. So you bet 125 dollars on a hand of Video Poker but refuse to bet 100 dollars to my 110 dollars on the flip of a coin? Even if you don't play 25 dollar VP... I seen your recent 5 dollar Sams Town Video Poker Royal and that is 25 dollars per hand!?
Over on WoV I fell for some very clever bait from the Wizard of Odds so I am trying not to take the free cheese in mouse traps anymore.
Let us put it this way... if we flip a coin and every time Heads comes up I pay you 2 dollars and every time Tails comes up you pay me only 1 dollar? Are you trying to say that you would not play that game all day every day for as long as you possibly could even if you were down 1000 dollars for one day of play?
you know, I give monet credit.....he presented a perfect analogy. He covered all the bases of bogus coins, etc. But here alan comes up with the "I dont" retort.
so....why didnt tou bet even a dollar while the 18 yos were being thrown at a near empty table.....answer "i dont bet hardways"
and..."what about this coin flip analogy....do you see the valid point I am making".........answer..."i dont flit coins or cards"
THAT RESPONSE IS INTELLECTUALLY BANKRUPT.
The basis of the question was not whether YOU YOU YOU like to bet on flipped coins.....But was rather ....would a rational person who had simple high school education be able to see the advantage in a situation and want to continue. No one fucking cares if you personally like to bet on cards or coin flips. That obviously wasnt the point. You are smart enough to realize that.....and you are evasive enough, dishonest enough to turn the analogy into something it wasnt.
the "i dont" mantra is rather telling. It says that you are evasive and dishonest, and use the "i dont" mantra as a mommies skirt to hide behind when the other boys in town question your honesty.
And since you don't know:
The first $100K royal I hit with only $2,000 in the machine and prior to hitting the $100K I hit several quads at the $5 and $25 level. I almost called it quits when I was ahead by about $5,000 but I used a rising stop loss (Google it).
The second $100K royal I hit with $2500 of free play money -- not a dime of my own.
The Sam's Town Royal came after I hit the ALL at craps betting the maximum there which was $25 on the small and tall, and $10 on the all. Then I had only $200 in the $5 8/5 Bonus Progressive and started hitting and got the royal with only a few minutes of play. And then I went home.
Let's be honest, you don't play craps. People who bet the horns and hardways are called "crazy crappers." These are bets with high house edges. I am surprised any one of you would even criticize me for not betting the 11.
You tell me that seeing so many 11s in a row is a billion to one possibility -- but you expected me to bet it? I am a very conservative craps player. I know that there is no way to beat the game of craps because it is a negative expectation game. So my bets are limited to the inside numbers.
Yes, I bet the Bonus Craps bets and I have had a lot of luck at those bets. I didn't post this before but in the past four days I hit the ALL four times. Once I was shooting and three times others were shooting. Two of those four ALLs came at the same table. I like Bonus Craps because you don't have to roll any number twice, and you don't even have to make a single pass to win it. In fact, I've hit the ALL many times without making a single pass.
Any "advantage player" would have done EXACTLY what I did when that young guy rolled those 18 yos -- he would have stood there and said to himself, "he ain't throwing another one." Only a "crazy crapper" would have been throwing money on the 11.
Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it. Now stop trolling me.
I am certainly not trying to troll you. I was only trying to make a point of why players don't stop playing when they have a clear advantage no matter if they are up or down.
I don't understand though you are playing 125 dollars per hand on Video Poker and you had 2000 dollars in the machine. You do realize how difficult it is to hit a Royal let alone playing 125 dollars per hand in VP. Even if your playing some amazing single line Royal Progressive that gives you a Royal every 30,000 hands you still have to put in about 30 hours of play to cycle that out if you hit one in the first cycle. You have no problem hitting the button playing 125 dollars per hand on a game that is worse than a 50/50 chance to get your money back but flipping coins is not in your wheelhouse?
This 2000 dollars was cash right? The Free Play is cash isn't it... I mean it might not be dollar for dollar but it certainly does translate into cash? I mean it is completely different compared to free bets in the pit that have to be played and are taken away when you win or lose your bet. Those chips are not even close to the same value as Machine Free Play.
I could go on but I see the war is over and I have lost... I'll leave you alone and stop trolling you and I apologize if you felt that I was trolling you. I have to get back to painting anyway. I honestly have weeks of work left and after the house is done I have to paint the garage floor and drive way and front door walkway/stairs.
Edit: For the Record Advantage Players do not play Craps or at least the ones I know never play it unless they are cheating in some way or another to get the edge.
You think you have my attention? You are mistaken sir. Do not confuse that I may respond with a sarcastic reply to you, to that I am interested in "explaining" anything to you. That ship has sailed.
And besides, the things you are asking, you have asked before, about a dozen times and I have answered a dozen times. You refuse to accept my answer and then come back with the same question a short time later. Same exact game you played with "tracking a second table" for over 4 months. I am just no longer playing your games. If you sincerely want an answer to this question, go back and read. I have already answered it....many times.
I have trained 3 people to play blackjack 'my way'. 2 of those went very well. Smart people, who picked it up well. The third, not so well. He was kind of dense. Had trouble grasping some of the simple concepts. I blamed myself because communicating my thoughts just as I want is not a strong suit of mine. So I kept trying. When he wouldn't understand a concept, I would circle around and come at it from a different angle.
In the end, he only played blackjack for 3 months. 3 pretty good months for him, I think he made 17 grand. And then he took that money and went back to his poker tables where he eventually lost it. See the problem wasn't me, it was him. He really wasn't interested in learning what I was trying to teach him.
And that's where I am with you. I have tried to explain things and when you don't get it, I try to come at it from a different angle. But in the end it's the same story. YOU aren't interested in learning anything. In YOUR case your mind is made up, and you are just playing games. You actually refuse to understand. I am just not going to play your games and put myself through that anymore. Play your games, but deal me out.
Again, we are not robots.....sometimes we all do things that we normally dont do...for go or bad. You weigh the risk and reward and proceed.
I dont go on cruises..........ok even if someone raves and raves..I am not throwing down 5k to go on that cruise. The riskis large
I dont bet center of table bets......if someone throws 4-5 yos in a row....I am in on the bet. its human nature...And if i hold out....and the guy rolls 4 more.....I am definately in. The risk/ rewardis tiny.
Life is filled with risk/reward decisions we make all the time. A robot can say "i was not programmed to behave that way"....but humans are not.
If you want us to believe that a human acted like a robot.....then were are in fairytale land
and the human acted like a robot while a one in 100 billion event was taking place.........baaahhaaaahhaaaa
I think I wasn't clear. I started with $2,000 in the machine but it was a machine with denominations of $5, $10 and $25, As I won I switched from $5 to $25. And then I hit a few quads at $25.
Someone can dig out my original report on this.
After I hit a couple of quads at $25, I moved back to $5 where I hit a straight flush ($1250). Had I hit that SF at $25 I would have called it quits, but since it was at $5 I kept playing. I lost a substantial amount of money at $5 following the SF, and then decided to try $25 again and caught another quad and then a royal.
That was the first time.
The second time, with the $2500 of free play, I just put the $2500 of free play in the machine and started at $25/coin. I was hitting right away and hit the royal in short order. Sometimes you get lucky. My own money for the trip was still in my pocket. I took a flyer on the free play.

the point is this: if casinos can go bankrupt what chance do I have?
Sorry, I don't play for the long term. I can't afford to. When you are playing theoretical games you can play for as long as you like. When you are playing with real money you have to think about what you're doing. You guys must all be very rich.
kewlj has now made it clear to me: he has his own definition for "EV" and EV also applies to bets that have lost and to money that has been lost. And you wonder why I kept asking kewlj questions?
I've read what EV is and no where -- absolutely no where -- is EV defined the way kewlj plays it or values it.
Frankly kewlj had you simply said you had your own definition or used the phrase to cover your own strategy I would have said "ok" and that would have been the end of it. But no, you couldn't do that. You just had to insult me.
Okay, now I know. You have your own definition of EV. And in your case EV also applies to money you have lost. That's your system, I'm at peace with it.
You have a great chance. You just need to make sure your bets are small enough to manage your risk of ruin on a positive expectation game. Here is an example:
1. You allocate a bank roll of $12,375.
2. You go to Fiesta in Henderson, bringing a grand of your $12,375 bank roll with you.
3. Inserting your players club card, you play for an hour on full pay deuces wild (assumes you don't make any discarding mistakes where FPDW has a very easy discarding strategy) at the 5 x $.25 level and then go home.
4. Rinse and repeat the next day
As you can see from the screenshot, you have a 99.98% chance of hitting a royal before losing your $12,375 bank roll and a 99.98% chance of turning $12,375 into $12500. Obviously APs like Monet and MaxPen use much larger denominations and find VP/slots and other machine games with higher player edges than .76% but this example provides you with the general template for winning AP machine play - i.e. calculating your ROR and flat-betting an appropriately small percentage of your bank roll to ensure victory.
tableplay I appreciate what you're saying, but I'm a recreational player. I enjoy craps, I enjoy video poker. I understand everything you are saying about coin flips and payoffs. You don't have to go into the detail.
As a recreational player I do what I enjoy. I enjoy the challenge of craps because while I cannot control dice or influence it to any meaningful degree, I enjoy the challenge of trying. For me, craps is actually a skill game even though I've seen only three players who have shown me the skill. Maybe regnis is the fourth? I don't know I haven't played with regnis.
I'm also a very practical player. I have a budget and I stick to it. I stick to bets that I believe give me a better chance of winning. I only play 8/5 Bonus Poker. At Red Rock they even have 8/5 Bonus at the 25-cent level and when I play VP now that's what I play.
If I ask questions it's because it's in my nature to ask questions. I had a 40+ year career of asking questions. Sometimes the questions hit paydirt and I won an Emmy or I put the bad guys in prison. If I read "X" and someone says they see it as "Z" I'm going to ask why? That's what happened with kewlj: it happened with reading two tables and it happened with his use of the term EV.
If I'm at a craps table tomorrow and some shooter throws three Yos in a row I am not going to bet the Yo for his fourth toss, just like yesterday when a shooter threw aces three times in a row I did not bet aces on his fourth throw -- and neither did anyone else at the table and the next roll was a 6.
I'm tired of the attacks and I'm tired of the same song from MisterV who has been hounding me for about 20 years now -- all because I said years ago that I think dice influencing is possible. I never claimed I could do it. I just said it's possible, and he's been on my case ever since.
Well now I'm really done. Participating here has become a -EV effort. I am not learning anything from anyone and I don't need to be here to defend myself against ludicrous statements such as "why didn't you bet the yo after you saw it for the tenth time?" I didn't bet the yo after ten times because a smart craps player wouldn't bet the yo after one time.
I know kewlj has told this forum many times he's leaving but he returns. The difference is kewlj needs this forum and I don't.
So good luck to all of you, I'm taking a break. A long, long break. MisterV find someone else to pick on.
I am pretty sure Mr V plays -EV games and rationalizes that since he has so much money it is just amusement or entertainment expenses for him. If this is the case I am not sure why he is picking on you. If I recall correctly Mr V is in support of people wearing 6000 dollar sweaters and 60,000 dollar Rolex's playing dice or walking down the street. If this type of person walking around in 6000 dollar sweaters and 60,000 dollar Rolex's gets rolled I am of the mindset that they deserved it... Mr V is not of that mindset and does not support that theory. I believe Mr V has stated that he has several 60,000 dollar watches or has had them at one time or another.
On another note Mr V lives in Portland,Oregon which does make me jealous. I always wanted to retire up in that area but after a recent trip a few years ago it appears that my blood has thinned out from desert living and I was freezing at 58 degree weather wearing a winter coat and winter clothes while people in the Portland area were in shorts and short sleeves. It appears I will end my life in the desert.
Anyone not retarded would have realized there was something wrong with the dice or whatever well before the 18th yo in a row. If i were playing craps(I have played before) I would be suspicious after the 6th one in a row.
Let's pretend you don't believe in Aliens(I'm sure you do but that's a topic for a different thread)
One morning a big alien ship lands in your backyard offering you a big bag of cash and the answers to the universe, yet you don't believe in aliens so you just ignore them and continue working on your scamfomercials.
BTW. there's a better chance of an alien ship landing in your backyard and you ignoring them than someone rolling 18 yo's in a row.
you answered you question. The chance of getting"rolled" in a well lit highly public place in some parts of the country is nil and you can live life accordingly.
In reno or vegas...not a chance would I wear that.
But I have lived in portland area for 3 months and never felt safer.
When I was young I would go to the boardwalk of Seaside Heights, and play the wheels, to win prizes, or thrw darts, or shoot an air rifle, and never thought I would master any of those things. I would lose 40 bucks and maybe win something...maybe not. But t was fun
As an adult I have my own Seaside Heights at my disposal. For the first 20 Years it was AC with craps and BJ,,,and some roulette. And for the last 18 its been reno with sports and poker.
I never deluded myself to think I would master any of them. I enjoy the action. I dont care about -EV plays. Warning me something is -EV is like warning me the piece of chocolate cake in front of me that I am about to put a fork in...is bad for my health.
Telling MrV that his Rolex is worthless because a Timex works just as well, or that he could get the same steak he got at the Bellagio, downtown for 9.99 doesnt register. Because I have been back and forth with him for over 20 years, and although we differ on some things.....we are the same in this philosophy. If you have the money, and you can enjoy yourself and make yourself happy without significantly draining your savings....then wtf.
Wow, the wolf bites back! ;)
Just to clarify....did the alien ship land in Alan's backyard, once....or 18 days in a row?
And was it a random landing...or had he phoned "home" first? :)
Actually I do believe in Aliens. How else do you explain this?
the chicks love him......he seems to have alot of shots on his site throughout the years of him with multiple scantily dressed gals smiling to the camera with him.
maybe it means hot chicks love aliens.
I find it interesting that many people I know or talk to believe in Aliens like Martians or something like that. They believe in Vampires and Werewolves. They believe in Witchcraft, Meditation and Psychics. They believe in other things as well but I am too tired to think or list them.
The point is when you ask them if they believe in God or Heaven or Hell... they emphatically believe that these things are myths or do not exist.
Basically they tell me this...
E.T. = Real
One True God = Not Real
Alan, I wish you good health and happines in your off-forum endeavors, whatever they may be.
True, I have long maintained that you are either deluded or lying about seeing 18 yo's in a row, but I still do not pray that misery, woe, and calamity befalls you (I'm an atheist, I never pray).
You and I are both reasonably well-heeled recreational gamblers who enjoy playing craps; we've discussed things on various boards for years; fwiw I thought Mason had your number long before I figured out your game.
Whatever, you are leaving: so I guess this is ... good bye, and don't let the door hit you 18 times on your yo.
Or if there are no aliens, how do you explain these two creatures?
You just learned something very valuable from tableplay(at least you should have). It totally explained why stop losses and wins are not necessary if you manage your bankroll correctly. It nullifies the.... not having enough money for the long-run argument. It helps show how and why advantage play can and does work when done correctly.
I get it. You consider yourself a smart guy and a knowable gambler with many personal/career accomplishments. Yet, you have been losing year after year doing something you really enjoy, even after 2 100k royals( Very sad, very sad indeed), and access to some very intelligent gamblers/AP's and yet you havent figured out how to make money doing it. It crushes your ego when you have former rail tramps, ex-smart ass dealers who are now 7star, guys that were homeless(not you KJ), guys like JK, conspiracy theorists, and guys that write like 2nd graders, who are doing something you can't even comprehend.
So you come up with all kind of BS about AP and AP's to make yourself look and feel better.
I think you are running along now since Tableplay gave you an example that's hard to argue with.
Ok, so in my internet search for a picture of Rob Singer for my (humorous) post above, I came across a link to his book. Something like "How to win at negative EV poker". ;)
I wasn't aware Singer had written a book. But in all seriousness, that changes everything. The man isn't just on these sites, attacking the math and those that believe in Math (AP's) for the hell of it. He has a financial interest in these ridiculous voodoo claims. :(
I consider Alan a smart guy and a knowledgeable gambler (I don't think knowable is a word). And I know he has many personal/career accomplishments. And anyone that doesn't know, he will gladly tell you about them.
And as a knowledgeable gambler, a stop limit makes sense. Gamblers are playing negative EV games. And if you don't employ some sort of stop limit, you will lose everything you own (like Singer).
The problem is Alan apparently doesn't understand the difference between playing -EV games and +EV games. -EV, if you keep playing you will eventually keep losing. +EV if you keep playing you will eventually keep winning. THAT is why you don't employ a stop limit when playing +EV games. It's not that difficult.
If I'm at a craps table tomorrow and some shooter throws three Yos in a row I am not going to bet the Yo for his fourth toss, just like yesterday when a shooter threw aces three times in a row I did not bet aces on his fourth throw -- and neither did anyone else at the table and the next roll was a 6.
suggesting that 3 aces in a row is statistically equivalent to 18 yos in a row....is being intellectually dishonest. Its this type of slight of hand that you try to pull off that makes people question your intelligence, sanity, honesty.
I'm tired of the attacks and I'm tired of the same song from MisterV who has been hounding me for about 20 years now -- all because I said years ago that I think dice influencing is possible. I never claimed I could do it. I just said it's possible, and he's been on my case ever since.
really? a grown man like you is going to play "the victim" card? Intellectually lazy
MrV is a lawyer, by nature analytical all he looks for is facts and he will call BS when he sees it. I am in the science field and also have an analytical side and am even faster than him to call BS. You cant always be surrounded with yes men.
sometimes more is needed than just your flapping gums. You ran away from wov during the 18 yo questioning. And now here.
maybe join the gambling fairytale website....and spin your yarns and no one will question you. You will have found a home.
"i dont" beg people not to leave,,,,,,,,so like MrV....I WISH YOU WELL...and hope one day maybe with the help of stem cells you can grow a spine.
Why? Are you a masochist or something? I mean, why are you trying to bait me and get into all this again(yes this was trivial and even kinda funny, but I know where it's heading, I see Larry has now chimed in)? Don't you have enough on your plate fucking with Alan and all the other tolls here? Haven't you noticed that whenever you attack WOV, Mike or anyone I consider a friend it just causes me and you to go at it?
I know you find it hard to believe, but I did go to bat for you fairly hard. Others did as well, only to end up with egg on our faces.
You keep seeing it as me defending Mike, but it's not just about that. It's more about I feel you are disrespecting me and others...
It feels as if you are... I want to say run rubbing our noses in it and unappreciative, but none of that seems to fit. I can't even think of how to explain it.
axel do you live your life through others where a barb at them is taken as a barb at you. Kind of like a voodoo doll. If MS skin is pricked...you feel the pain.
be your own man.
the way the man publicly treats his wife should have you sickened, mortified embarrassed. I wont rehash it here.....but stop already with the strong defense over a tiny barb. Thats kind of over the top. I used to accuse KJ of being emotional and over the top....but geez....
NO FUCKING SHIT. (I didn't mean that negatively towards you). I didnt even have to know that when I first heard of him, I knew he was up to sonthing.
I wouldn't find it hard to believe if somehow Rob's BS somehow benefits Alan financially as well. Hits, views, traffic, sales?
IIRC Rob Singer said he will teach people his system for free?
I have a feeling there is/was more to that than meets the eye. I wouldn't be surprised if he was asking for a cut if they hit big.
I wasn't "baiting" you, nor "attacking" Mike. It was a joke! I mean come on, he is a little unusual looking...like from out of this world. ;)
Ya know when you want to make jokes at my expense, it is ok. Even when it leads to others attacking me that aren't doing so in a friendly manner. And if I say anything, then I don't have a sense of humor.
But I make a joke, and look who doesn't have a sense of humor. You immediately go into "oh you attacked my friend, now you and I have to go at it" mode. Lighten up Wolfman.
And one more thing Axelwolf. Don't keep throwing it in my face that you and others went to bat for me. You and I are not BFF. I don't even know you. So if you and others spoke up on my behalf, while I appreciate that, you did not do so out of some friendship towards me. I would hope and think you did so because you felt what occurred wasn't fair.
So again, while I appreciate that, don't keep throwing it in my face that you did me some great favor and I owe you. I hope you did what you thought was right. I don't think I am in debt to you for that.
And for the record, so Axel doesn't get all bent out of shape....I don't think Michael Shackleford is a space alien from another world. Apparently he was born here on earth, Baltimore maybe, and at least one of his parents was an earthling, making him at least a legal (space) alien. ;)
I can see how you might assume that from just my posts. You are way off base about me and my emotions. You were not there behind the scenes and you don't have all the facts regading all this, so you really can't make a good assement.
I have no clue what he said that you feel is sickening, mortifying or embarrassing. I vegly rember him saying something about disliking Valentine's day.
I don't judge what people do in their home life, I don't know all the facts behind the scenes. For all I know his Wife encouages him to say whatever it is you claims he's said. I don't think I have ever really responded to any of that garbage regarding his home life.
No kidding there is more than meets the eye. Take a good look at the picture I posted above of Alan and Singer. Look how Alan is looking at Rob. Idolizing him. It almost looks like he wants to lean in and kiss him. What is the saying....a picture is worth a thousand words.
No wonder Alan has been 'heartbroken' ever since Singer was shown the door.
