Good research, LMR. Much appreciated. I had not seen these. Had I seen them, I would have mentioned Germany, certainly, as I think their response has been what the U.S. should have copied, in many ways.
When I do the blog entries (and the not-singing suggestion was one line in the entry), I treat them as reportage. I give myself 24 hours to get the piece done, so it's a piece of reporting, not a polished article. I am going to miss some things. I certainly didn't claim sole credit for the ideas in that blog piece. I was just playing with ideas that I thought were worth considering. For example, in that piece, I mention the various viral load differences between age groups. That's certainly not something that came from me -- it was ongoing research that uncovered some significant differences. And the research hadn't made it into the U.S. media.
But thanks again. I will certainly reference other countries as doing the no singing pre-dating the California ban when I discuss it again.

Regarding the Wise Guys. When Playbook was still publishing as a paper newsletter and was nationally available on newsstands, one of each contestant's plays was listed in the newsletter. Way back when, maybe 13-14 years ago, I did get some income from Playbook when they had 900 lines and I was one of the boxes. I mentioned this in a number of posts a couple years ago when I sent stuff to Mr. Mendelson.
Anyway, the bottom line is, you assumed I made money because Playbook charges something for the plays now that they don't publish the national newsletter. That is incorrect. I get nothing, nada, zero.
Now here's my question. Why would you assume I get money when I said I derived no income from it? I posted the link. It doesn't take a genius to read it and understand that they charge ten bucks or something for the plays. You just assume. I'm constantly stunned at the money-orientation here. Just browsed through, and two remarks: regarding Sweden -- Sweden is considered a failure by most because it's mortality rate is higher than other Scandinavian countries and a recent economic analysis demonstrated that the no shutdown did not result in any economic benefit as compared to other Scandinavian countries. People assume the no shutdown greatly aided their economy. It did not. The other quick note -- maybe two months ago, tests were done on children. Children have much less viral load outspew and intake when they breathe. So being around children, you don't get the volume of virus that you get around adults. I did a blog entry that touched a little on that ("Outside the Box"). Older people, although most vulnerable, also don't outspew much virus load. So if you're around oldsters and you're young, they are vulnerable to you, but you aren't very vulnerable to them. It's more of a one-way street.

Here my fear is that as soon as they open up casinos and put people back together cases explode. Almost has to doesn't it? And it isn't even about getting the virus. I don’t have a problem with a mask. Will it protect me from others? Probably not. Will it protect others from me? Probably. There is something I remember from my drinking days. Standing to close to someone in a bar while they are drinking and talking at you will get you a face full of spittal. I couldn’t see it but I could feel it landing on my face. Take a look at your phone screen if you want to see dried spittal Twist the phone around in the light until you see it. I clean mine with alcohol. I wear the mask so I don’t put spittal on others.
Easy test. Without mask spit on the ground. With mask on try spitting on the ground.

However, you have some security guard, at a Casino, chasing down a 65-70 old man to move his mask up from his chin to his mouth as he was leaving the building.

It is fairly clear why people have rules about the masks. Not sure what is difficult understanding what happens if you let people do what they wish. You lose customers who don't want to fuck with others being around without masks and others do the same in regards to ignoring it. Disease spreads more, increasing likelihood the whole thing is shutdown. Of course they have to enforce this shit. This is America ! Too many dumb mother fuckers think they have something to prove. They needed to be treated like children.
I live in a city where the mask thing isn't seen as some stupid stand for freedom. (As long as you don't kneel to the flag...) The cases have went way down and leveled off. Makes me far more likely to go out and keeps functional healthcare system.
