EV: the difference between the real APs and the poser dawgs.

I just saw a very brief discussion at WoV (the dawg pound thread) between Axelwolf and Mdawg. It ended when Axelwolf casually mentioned EV, saying something like he wouldn't even enter a promotion that wasn't worth $1000 EV to him.

That is when it hit me that EV is the difference between guys making ridiculous claims like Dawg and Singer before him (throw in Soxfan), and any real AP/long-term winning player.

You NEVER see one of these guys mention EV. They have probably looked it up, but just have zero understanding of how it works in regards to gambling.

Of all the Mdawg posts making all the math defying (yes EV is the cousin of the math) claims, not a single mention of EV.

So Mdawg can you explain the EV behind your millions (with an S) of dollars of gambling claims? hell lets start smaller. Can you explain the EV behind your most recent trip of 3 weeks $200k win? :confused:

Somebody who tries to apply the probability of random events to calculate how to win at non-random events probably shouldn't be lecturing people about probability.

Somebody who claims he went to Villanova, became a professional gambler, and didn't take probability courses while at Villanova, should be writing for the Brothers Grimm.

FYI, 60 some winning hands in a row on Blackjack is a bigger lie than all of the people's total lies on these forums.

The SOME part never came out until after you got called out and the math was done. The original title never said SOME. It states you claim to have won 60in a row.

Yes, mathematically, the 60 hands in a row is easily Mdawgs biggest lie. That is his 18 y.o. in a row moment.

Monetarily his biggest lie is the "mid 7 figure mansion", although the 7 months of winning wiped away in a single sentence is close.

Just from pure reality, I am going to go with the night he claimed to be playing blackjack at a private table with Montreal Canadian Hockey players that were quarantined in Canada at the time.

But for me, the most problematic was and is the 1-50 spread ($100-$5000) playing double deck blackjack on the strip for 10 straight hours while he won $60k. This was pre-rainman claim of total recall, so at this time he was talking card counting. No casino, least of all Cosmo would allow that for 30 minutes, let alone 10 hours. What really bothered me about this is I can envision someone maybe not so familiar with the strip and Cosmo showing up and attempting to spread 1-50 and finding themselves 86ed and databased in about 20 minutes. :mad:

And the funny thing is that several of these have something in common. The 60 straight winning blackjack hands, the 1-50 spread at double deck on the strip for 10 hours and the 7 months of winning millions, even Wizard came to the rescue calling out, doubting and showing the math against these claims.

And yet, very singer-esque, dawg just moves on to the next fantastical claim. :rolleyes:

So at this point, I guess we aren't going to get the EV explanation I asked for. Dawg has never once mentioned EV. He totally doesn't understand EV and the relationship to long-term winning. All we will get is some deflection.

To be clear, I didn't say promo, I said I would not enter a tourney. (if not, that's what I meant to say) that was not worth that much to me. The time and BS it takes to play them are just not worth the hassle.

In the past I have played tourneys that were not worth 1k in EV, but that was when I was younger and hungry. I definitely wouldn't be jacking around with them if I had the money that MDawg portrays himself to have.

Yes, you did say tournament rather than promo. My mistake. The point remains Dawg never mentions and doesn't appear to even understand EV and the relationship to real winning

The telling of the event remained consistent just its details were fleshed out with subsequent posts however the title of the thread had nothing to do with me.
