That's a new sign recently posted in the Suncoast parking lot.
Wonder what happened.
Casinos are notoriously lax in their enforcement of parking violations, for obvious reasons.
Someone at Suncoast must have gotten a handicapped spot ticket, and then made a huge deal to the Suncoast how they deserve the equivalent in comps.
Dan I'm guessing some high roller thought they had the right to park anywhere they wanted.
Hi-roller or whatever....just another idiot who thinks the rules don't apply to them. For the same reason I enjoy and applaud every time I see a cop writing up some speeder or red light runner on the side of the road, it is equally gratifying to see the police punishing handicapped parking violaters at the Suncoast. It was likely some distraught "AP" anyway whose theoretical "edge" just took a hit from the reality of a parking ticket.

There are other handicaps that are not necessarily physical handicaps, at least in the way you'd think. I believe if you're shorter than 4' 10" or 4' 8" you're legally handicapped. I was an acquaintance of someone who had some sort of disease which meant he got a handicapped sticker/placard so he could park near entrances of buildings in case he had some emergency. You can probably get one for even being a little overweight not necessarily morbidly obese.
Handicapped for being "a little overweight"? What's the statute--stupidity?
Is it any wonder that a self-proclaimed AP said that??

No, I don't agree with it, but that's the reality in the US of A.
This is a constant annoyance for me. People using the handicapped space when they aren't handicapped. There was a 2 year period when I could not walk--I had to use crutches--and I still wouldn't park in a handicapped space. Pure laziness--like the drive through window. Get off your effin fat ass and walk into Starbucks and get your coffee. Morons wait in line 20 deep and I just walk in.
I try to park a long way away from anywhere, so people who need spaces close can use them. My mom, aunt, and uncle all had MS, so I have some respect for proper use of the spaces.
I have a different kind of beef with handicapped parking. I hate it when someone with handicapped plates uses a parking space NOT for handicapped drivers.
This happened a couple of years ago when I went shopping at Trader Joe's here in LA. TJ's are famous for having small parking lots. On a Sunday afternoon every spot in the lot was filled and cars were waiting and I saw a car with a handicapped license plate parked in a regular spot WHILE THE HANDICAPPED SPOTS WERE WIDE OPEN.

Is there a handicapped shopping aisle, where all the groceries are closer to the parking lot?
Redietz... back in the 1980s I remember Publix supermarkets having an express aisle at the front of the store with the things most shoppers just "run in" for. Thought I'd mention that since you mentioned a handicapped aisle close to the parking lot.
There are always far more handicapped spots (by law) than actually needed. That's why you never see all of them filled in any lot, unless people are parking in them illegally.
I do think it's hilarious that some gambler at Suncoast bitched to them about being ticketed. When you park in a handicapped spot, you're gambling, and this person apparently lost. Tough luck!

Handicap criteria are ranging. Somebody could be handicappe based on a cardiac or lung issue meaning they can't walk long distances doesn't mean they can't operate a bike. And if they are trike bikes many now have semi automatic transmissions. Myself I have nerve damage in my left leg and could never operate a Reg bike but a CanAm Spyder I could.Quote:

My point was even though I was crippled, I didn't want to take a handicapped space. I completely destroyed my foot and ankle and was told I would never be able to walk normally again or play any sports. Only option was to fuse my foot to my ankle. I refused and it took over 2 years but I rebuilt my ankle and eventually was able to play all sports as well as semi pro hockey albeit always in pain and a step slower.Quote:
