I just went over to PFA. Dan is talking about shutting that forum down. I wonder what is in store for us here at VCT.
Looks like you're ran out of forums to call home. You don't give a fuck about Dan, your just worried about your own obvious lonely self, having no way to communicate with the outside world.
You pathetic degenerate asshole. Maybe you'll be forced back into a bottle. (which I suspect you never left, just to make everyone think you were normal) LOSER
LOL. Maybe blackhole could take over the forum and become an online life coach.
"Saludos, my darlings
And you know who you are
Come on, let's mingle
So nice to see you.
You know, my dear
My father used to say to me
Nando, don't be a schnook.
It's not how you feel;
It's how you look."
from "You Look Marvelous," from the Billy Crystal album, Mahvelous!
I'm in my 18th month of sobriety. Thank you for your support and encouragement, Cuckhole.
This thread is on a serious topic. Dan's health is involved. Cuckhole jumped right in and shit on it. Selfish little piece of shit. He needs to be bitch slapped clean into next week. I suggest Dan delete the troll posts in this thread and ban Cuckhole. He's never contributed anything positive. All 100% of his posts are trolls.
I wish Dan the best.
I don't know him well, but he has worked tirelessly to benefit the poker community, which benefits the gambling community on the whole. Aside from that, from what little I have read from him, he seems like a pretty cool guy.
All I know is, Death comes quick. Everyone better get ready and get their affairs in order.
I had a couple of family members die in a moments notice.
Another woke up one day and wasn't the same for 18 months till she died.
Make your wills out. Better yet, have dual ownership of things that you want passed on to whom you trust.
I seen the vultures come and even the State come and take their share.
Legal Like!! Even though many things were wrong or illegal.
It appears when money and lawyers are involved things get messy.
It is no joke! Get Ready!
If Dan is indeed shutting down this forum and/or retiring from gambling my wife and I aka sassycat wish him the best. In particular we like his contributions into the latest of what is going on at CET and the 7 star program. If he wishes to keep it going we suggest implementing a TROLL TAX effective immediately. Anyone who he deems trolling or using vulgarities or violating whatever the rules are could pay a small fee or get knocked off the forum for a couple of weeks if they did not want to pay the TROLL TAX. This would offset the cost of running this forum. There is no telling how much extra income this might generate.
Will alan wind up with the site again?
Stay tuned, but I hope Dan's health concerns turn out to be misplaced and that he will again be in tip top shape.
What about you Boz? IMO you would be an excellent moderator. You're not a guy who sticks his head in the sand or plays favorites.
Maybe let's not write Dan off yet. Hopefully he regains his health and can continue the site
Yeah, just cross your fingers, do what the docs tell you to do and hope for the best.
Dan Druff leaving poker is like taking away apple pie from America. He hope he doesnt retire, BUT I also have some ideas for him as well. I am hoping to get him more involved in the firearm scene in the future.
I don't really know you Dan but from reading your posts you seem like a really nice guy who stayed above the nastiness present in online forums.
From what I saw of your baseball betting you are very talented in sports betting. I don't play poker but I read about some of your big scores in Wikipedia.
I hope you get well and I wish you the best for the future in whatever you choose to do.
Dan has made a post or two in the last couple of days over at PFA.
How could anyone NOT agree with the truthfulness of this post?
Regardless....the first post said mickey "thinks" Dan's having a health issue. I know nothing about twitter and don't want to. Did he actually say his health was failing? He's not that old, is he?
I don't see a reason to keep a forum like this going anyway. Recently I posted about the true shock to mickey's life if he no longer had this place to troll others on. I for one would thoroughly enjoy thinking about him wallowing in lonely pain over something so meaningless as losing a forum. Gulp gulp.
Be well Dan.
Rob will be lost if this forum goes down. He's been banned from here 3 times and came crawling back 3 times.
This site is low maintenance compared to PFA. Over Dan was having to keep up with all the shennanigans going on in the poker world. That's a lot of work. Not so here.
Ive talked to Dan some and I believe he is sincere in quitting gambling.. I think maybe if he refocuses on other things and leave poker as just a cool hobby instead of living and dying based on his results.. The pressure to perform as a poker player day in and day out is hard enough of these 20 something millenials, Dan being basically middleaged and discovering what I have, that turning 40 shit starts going south. It likely boils down that hes concerned his health is going sideways as there is some history of fairly serious issues in the family and his son is now 8 and wanting to see him grow up vs the fear of his son growing up without him because stress caused him to have a heart attack and drop dead before he's 50..
So cliffs.. I believe in my heart Dan will still gamble and play around some but only that which he can do for fun and not seriously affect his life one way or the other.. Basically if he loses no big deal but if he wins great its a bonus.. Dan likes playing poker its in his blood but maybe Dan plays some lower stakes for fun vs playing high stakes limit and getting chest pains and anxiety when he takes a 10k hit one night..
Dan does have some health issues.. If you search on PFA you can find out but just in case.. He went to the MD due to some chronic sore throat and issues he was having..He was diagnosed essentially with the same thing my wife has which is a form of reflux disorder which had seriously irritated his upper airway and throat.. Hes had so much discomfort from it hes had issues sleeping.. To boot hes having issues with the meds the MD originally prescribed.. As a nurse myself hes having a rare side effect in that the PPI (think Nexium. Priolosec, Protonix) is causing other issues unrelated to the reflux issue.. I suspect Druff is going to probably end up going to a GI MD and having a full endoscopy done to check everything from his throat to his gut to ensure nothingelse is going on.. Dan I believe is also having some underlying anxiety which lead to the gambling announcement.. Druff has always been concerned about heart issues as their is some significant history in his family which I also get.. Maybe if he gets everything checked it will alleviate his concerns as I don't know if and when he had a regular full fledged physical...
Dan, wishing you the best. Stay away from spicy foods and try to get a lot of rest. You might want to get tested for Helicobacter Pylori which is a bacteria that can cause GI irritation and can be killed with antibiotics.
Cheers, TP.
All the best, Dan. Get well.
Then he has no real choice but to eliminate anything that might be the cause of stress in his life. I had a close friend who, in his early 50's, discovered the dangers of ignoring constant acid reflux & heartburn issues over the years. Esophageal cancer was the result, and he passed away at 60. It was a combination of certain foods of course, not cutting back on the alcohol, and being a high stress individual that did him in.
If Dan has that and is a candidate for heart issues, then being in his 40's there's time to right the ship.
You have made it crystal clear that doxxing someone is wrong and you are against it.
However, you praise Dan for his Whistle Blowing in the Poker Community and tell us that it not only improves Poker but the Gaming Industry as a whole for the player?
Can you explain the difference between doxxing someone or whistle blowing/ratting on someone?
I see a difference but not much that would warrant such praise.
In my mind it is basically the same exact thing.
Might as well call the FBI on your neighbor since they are all about See Something Say Something.
Why would anyone take an even money wager when they are 6/5 underdogs? What is the motivation? I would wager on Argentino myself, given the set-up. Why is anyone giving this idea an ounce of credibility?
I'm still waiting for someone to take me up on my big challenge -- I guarantee I'll win 45% of my sports wagers this year.
LOL. Coach, Mickeycrimm cut you slack on your Montana wager. You would have lost your ass had you shown up at a casino of his choosing.
I'm going to cut you some slack here, too. Think real hard. What do you have to pin down to assure that you have any chance to win? I actually think you may get this. Let's see if you do.
I din't know why you're veering off course so early in the negotiations.
I'm going to ask you to agree to terms that give me a good chance to win.
But you'll need to focus on the task at hand, maybe I asked too many questions,
so we can take them one at a time.
How much is the wager?
Coach, I'm cutting you some slack. What do you need to do to assure yourself that you have a chance to win?
There is no wager. I'm seeing if you understand what you need to do to assure that you would have a chance to win a bet like this. I figure you have enough wagering IQ to give a snap answer.
I guarantee monet would get this in two minutes.
Coach, this is a simple test to see if you are old enough to go around engaging in these kinds of wagers. What must you do to assure yourself that you have a chance to win?
Mickeycrimm, I thought, was very generous to not take you to school by loading up machines on his home turf. You never would have figured that out, and yet it was kindergarten stuff. This is pre-school. What must you do to assure yourself a chance to win?
What difference does it make?...nobody was ever going to Montana,
he generously threatened to shoot me if I did.
I have no chance to win unless I can get you to agree to a bet.
You've brought your challenge up 3 times, complaining that nobody will bet you,
now I'm offering to take your action, and all you want to do is play word games.
Shit or get off the pot, ditz.
I am ready to make a sports bet with a self-proclaimed pro,
and you won't take my action?
Coach failed the test. I am somewhat surprised. As per my original offer, I could take any teams I liked, with a minimum of 200 plays and no maximum. The minimum/maximum mention was fluff to distract him. I could have had this drag on for days or weeks, but I have things to do.
The trick is that I'm allowed to take any teams I like. That means (drum roll please): I am allowed to take opposite sides of the same game. Monet would have gotten that in two minutes. I'm pretty sure Mission would have had in about the same. Would coach have gotten that in hours, or days, or until his money was in escrow? Any theories?
The beauty of that wager is that it can be made at 50%, also. If you shop for lines and play for middles and know what you're doing, you will hit some middles throughout the season. Maybe not many, but all you need is one to be above 50%. Also, you can start off the first week actually handicapping, and if you lose, you can then switch to opposite sides of the same game for as many plays as you can fire, and you will eventually get to 45%, probably sooner than later. In addition, you could actually handicap, start off well, and only go to the opposite sides strategy if you were in danger of falling under 45%. In theory, you could (and the odds favor you to do so), maintain a percentage above 45% and never have to unveil the opposite sides strategy. You could save it for the next chump, or the same chump the next year.
Now this is a sucker bet, obviously, just as what Argentino is proposing is a sucker bet. A lot of misdirection and fluff in both, but when the terms are pinned down, you can't lose unless your opponent, in my case, vetoes betting both sides of the same game. If he does, you simply say, "Not my original offer." Kind of like Argentino. In Argentino's case, he's offering even money on something he has a 40-45% chance to lose. Also a sucker bet. Also "word games" with denomination switches and special plays.
Coach, really, how likely is it you would have come up with vetoing betting opposite sides of the same games by yourself? LOL. A pre-school angle. Argentino's stuff is third or fourth grade, so I have to give him credit.
Ah, look how much this thread got off the rails.
Sadly, I am suffering from two different health problems at the same time (maybe related, maybe not), and neither is easily fixed/cured.
I've spent an insane number of hours researching stuff on my own, and have been to a lot of doctors appointments.
Health is the most important thing in life. More important than money, social life, respect, and pretty much everything (except perhaps family).
I remember a quote from "Good Times", where James Evans said, "What do you mean money isn't everything? Of course money matters. The only two worse things than being broke are being sick or being dead."
I have to agree that being healthy and broke is better than being sick and rich -- unless the "sick" part is only temporary.
I keep looking back at how I was just a month ago, and wish so badly just to return to that state.
None of these problems appear life-threatening, unless there's something I'm missing (and the doctors are missing). But they are debilitating and have stolen all of the joy out of life.
Hopefully I can make some inroads and eventually recover from both conditions. Then I will start gambling again, though it will probably be at a level/frequency to where it doesn't stress me out too much.
But right now I'm just trying to get better.
Life and health is a gift we usually take for granted, no doubt about it.
I had a health scare recently: an existential moment.
Whoa.
Keep on keeping on, and when you get a chance and have the energy you might want to look over some recent threads and take out the trash.
One poster in particular is taking advantage of your absence to devolve to the level of a venomous serpent.
The health problems you're having sound more annoying and frustrating than serious. If you were my age then I'd say that the other way around.
I don't get the caffeine issue. I don't drink soda and I don't drink coffee, and I've never heard of "caffeine withdrawal" before. I hope you don't smoke, mess with weed or drugs, or take more than a moderate amount of alcohol. Either way, it sounds like the time is NOW for a healthier lifestyle all-around. At your age and with a young child around, that should be easy to pursue.
Many people don't get a wake up call such as this. It should mean the world to you.
Dan - I hope you feel better soon. Maybe see you at Rincon sometime...
Get well soon, Dan. Just take life easy for awhile and leave the gambling to us hardcores.
Now, for anyone thinking about betting that someone can't win 45% of their NFL sides bets I have a proposition. I'll make a pick for every game every week through 17 straight weeks. I'll post my bets in a thread here by Wednesday of each week. That's about 250 games. As everyone knows I'm not a professional sports bettor. But I will reveal to you the system I will use. I'll flip a coin for every game. Heads I take the favorite, tails I take the dog. I think I can win at least 45%. If the game lands right on the number the game doesn't count.
Any takers?
And yet the ditz won't offer to bet that he can win 45% unless
he's allowed to bet both the favorite and the underdog in the same game.
After all, isn't that how touts operate, advising half of their "clients"
to bet the favorite, and advising the other half to bet the dog?
Since you think it's standard for the person proposing the wager
to put his money into escrow first, is that what you'll do before
anyone accepts your challenge?
It's not that Reiditz won't bet if he can't bet both sides. It's just that he hasn't so far said he would.
On the coin flip picks. I'm not talking about some big outlandish bet like Singer proposes that never gets anywhere. I'm willing to put up 1K on it. And no escrow bullshit. You and me are honorable men. Besides, I need to protect my true identity. The loser will pay in the form of a postal money order made out for $1000 and everything else left blank, To be sent through the mail. I can have it sent to someone's address that won't give my identity away. If the loser doesn't pay then they should resign from the forum. And that would be backed up up by Dan agreeing to lifetime ban the bet welsher.
I'll use Bovada lines and take pics of them to put up before I coin flip the picks. Picks will be up by Wednesday at the latest. Just the regular season. No need to extend it thru the playoffs.
Mickeycrimm after posting about your historical relatives and family history you now say you have to protect your true identity?
mickey what's the big deal about giving your real name out? I've had it for years but I never would make it public, just like I'm not outing kew. It serves no purpose. People only post anonymous people's real names whenever they get upset or agitated by them. I don't do that. Besides, what do you have to lose anyway....a thousand dollars?
Well, Robbie boy, you know how us lowlife's are. I'm on the lam. I'm wanted in 7 states for creating a nuisance. I don't have any kids I know of.. Ahem....but I'm probably responsible for 4 or five welfare checks a month. And I don't want to catch a bigamy charge. There's those fines I didn't pay. Don't want to tell the rest.
While I have no doubt you have some problems with the law in a place or two, you're hardly the bad-boy or tough brute you make yourself out to be on the forums. You don't file fed tax returns, which if you really do have any income from gambling, you're breaking the law but like me, nobody cares. And if you don't, then all you're doing is lying to a bunch of meaningless forum clowns.
Repeat: someone in your position has zero to lose should you put out your real name. And NO ONE would ever try and check out what level of "bum" you really are. It doesn't matter.
Coach, you will never pin down redietz for a clear answer to anything. You've just seen again how he wavers and diverts anything he can to try and not look so much like the phony you know he is. He even gets so frustrated with your direct requests that he has to bring me into his excuses for dodging your challenge to him.
Sportsbetting weasels like him who earn funds thru begging other people for money because they can't count on their own picks are a dime a dozen in that sleazy business. You're seeing him prove his ineffectiveness here in real time.
For people wondering if I can "count on my own picks," I suggest going to www.playbook.com and checking out last season's Wise Guys Contest. Or this season's Wise Guys Contest. Or previous Wise Guys Contests. The Wise Guys is invitation only. Or the standings pages from "Tipsters or Gypsters?" posted in the Retro Road Trip thread, which I will once again bump thanks to my fan base.
I do not solicit business or partners via phone or text or email. If someone emails me first, I will respond. If Argentino has any evidence that I solicit business in these ways, I will give him a grand AND host a party at next year's G2E where he can head his roundtable discussion that he claimed last year (I notice Mr. Mendelson must not have been invited).
I saved coach money. He should be thanking me. Some people are not happy I did not take his money. My point was that he is out of his depth offering wagers if he doesn't automatically see the pitfalls. All of the Las Vegas sports contests had to insert caveats into their rules regarding taking both sides of the same game after it became an issue during the final weeks of contests. Most did not initially have rules in place to deal with that strategy. Anybody with any experience knows that.
Finally, Argentino misses the basic point of "selling picks" for people who do so. Most of the honorable people I know who do this, do not charge if the selections lose. They charge if they win. It's the classic advantage play for the handicapper, and I'm sure monet and mickey and Mission understand how flipping the house odds in one's favor has nothing to do with not being able to bet enough.
Me? I'm still waiting for the youtube of Argentino's G2E roundtable discussion so I can learn how to gamble.
I'm sure Redietz knows no one who does this, but this is the classic betting con that he mentioned:
"Most of the honorable people I know who do this, do not charge if the selections lose. They charge if they win. It's the classic advantage play for the handicapper...."
The con man starts with two lists. One list gets A and one list gets B. Next time the winning list is divided in half with A and B picks again. And the next winning list gets A or B again. Finally there is a small group who thinks "this picker is 100% so here's my $10,000."
I've covered their trials.
"
Mr. Mendelson, you're talking about the classic boiler room operations from 50 years ago. I have neither the time nor inclination to take you on a historical tour of all ripoffs and trickerations of tout services through the ages. I'll have articles detailing those ancient histories on my own sites. Boz knows his stuff -- he could spell them out for you. Old "Tipsters or Gypsters?" would have been a useful read, as reporter Mike McCusker exposed many of the usual scamming styles. The honorable people I mention are charging $10 to $50 for individual plays, for the most part, and only if they win. There is no scamming fortune to be made that way.
When I say "honorable people," I know whereof I speak. I'm not speculating. Now if you had bothered to read any of the material I sent you, you would understand what "Tipsters or Gypsters?" was about. And how the modern highest profile sports handicappers for the most part don't engage in the high pressure, semi-scam stuff any longer, although to be sure, there are still boiler rooms run by the unscrupulous.
If you bothered to go to www.playbook.com and familiarized yourself with the style and substance of what goes on there, you'd see it's not a boiler room. The Playbook national magazines are on the newsstands now, if you head to Barnes and Noble. I am not part of the Playbook crew. I'm an independent who they invite to participate in the Wise Guys. But Playbook is one example of above board sports handicapping.
The whole "32/16/8/4/2/1 -- somebody is a genius" scam is not what people are doing when they don't charge unless plays win. What they are doing is flipping the odds from the house to themselves. Suggesting they are running the "32/16/8/4/2/1 -- somebody is a genius" scam is actually libelous. If you don't automatically grasp how charging for winning selections flips the house advantage to a player advantage, you should not be writing about sports gambling, even a little.
It is the simplest of advantage plays.
Thanks for the additional info redietz. But gee, all I did was mention that I covered some trials of con artists who used A/B lists and didn't charge until they got their marks hooked. Oh, and it wasn't 50 years ago either.
The other cons I covered were as simple as forged cashier's checks used for deposits -- from banks in the Bahamas that did not exist.
And then there were those mortgage brokers I helped to put in federal prison who said investors would get big returns on their money but it was a ponzi scheme.
And I see you can't let go of the package that I didn't have to read unless your plane crashed.
I'm going to correct you again. I never said you shouldn't read it unless my plane crashed. I expected you to read it. What I expected was for you to have read it and, if my plane crashed, to report to the forum that I was me and that Argentino was completely incorrect. I always expected you to read it. My having sent it, without you bothering to read it, was quite the insult.
You wriggle and manipulate and misstate things, but you will never find a quote from PMs or elsewhere saying I didn't expect you to read it. I presumed you would, being that you are a journalist and all, and presumably interested in the truth. I didn't expect you to report the contents unless (1) you felt it was appropriate to do so (2) in the forum's best interests to do so or (3) my plane crashed. But I always expected you to have read it.
Bringing up your coverage of the old 32/16/8/4/2/1 scams after I mentioned people only charging for selections if they win served what purpose? Were you implying something? If you weren't, why post it? Are you saying handicappers only charging if they win is somehow connected to the 32/16/8/4/2/1 scams? What, if anything, was your point?
Now, how about that G2E roundtable with your buddy, Argentino, chairing the discussion? Care to report on that?
You never asked me or told me to read it. At best you said to blow through the 50+ pages and that's what I did with Tony on the phone. Do you really need me to fight your battles with Singer.
Once again I'm posting your messages to me. Now leave me alone.
I just love the line by redietz "I'll just send it along and won't mention the fact that I sent it on the forum again."
Do you remember writing that redietz? Did you read that keystone?
I have banned Elaine M, who is a troll and a fake account.
Notice the increasing length of redietz' replies. It's as if he knows he's in a pickle but he just can't find the selection of wordsmithing that will make him feel better about his being a sportsbetting scoundrel.
I wouldn't expect your posting any of the past factual documentation will have any effect on the redietz lies. It's as if we have our out version of a Hillary Clinton clone right here!
Rob I think it's time to bury the hatchet on "packagegate" and I hope this will be the end of it for EVERYONE.
Now, have you any updates on advertising your OFFICIALLY WORDED challenge in TWO Las Vegas papers?
And I hope your advertised challenge will include the escrow terms so once and for all THAT can be resolved as well.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Where did you come up with me thinking it's standard for the person proposing the wager to put his money into escrow first? Let's go over the facts:
1. Rob proposes a bet.
2. Kim Lee accepts the bet.
3. Rob says that Kim Lee proposed the bet so should put money in escrow first.
4. I tell Rob he is conveniently forgetting that he is the one that proposed the bet and that since he thinks the one that proposes the bet should put money in escrow first....then Rob should own up to it put money in escrow first.
Then you take that, Coach, and say I'm the one that thinks it's standard for the one proposing the bet putting money in escrow first. Tsk. tsk. tsk. Can't let ya get away with that one, Coach.
Actually I don't think there's a true bet proposal until Rob publishes it in two Vegas newspapers.
So, are you going to do it?
For the record, it won't be cheap for Rob to do this. His bet will require details and newspaper ads in Vegas are pricey.
Mr. Mendelson, while you're verifying this and that, why don't you verify that you saw the splash panel verifying that I won the Heritage Sports Race to the Super Bowl, which Argentino somehow fails to believe. As an honest journalist, I'm sure you'd like to set the record straight regarding you seeing it, suggesting I post it, and my declining to do so. It's in your PMs, after all.
How about some honest reporting?
Redietz I don't know what a "splash panel" is. Also I've never been to any of those sites you mentioned and frankly I set foot in a sports book only twice in my life, and both times to make free bets that the casino gave me and I had to ask my girlfriend what to do.
Why don't you post the links or take a screen shot?
Why don't you ask Dan to do it?
Why don't you ask Mickeycrimm to do it?
Leave me alone. I'm not here to fight your battles nor am I your investigative reporter.
And what is a splash panel?
