A true +EV play

This is a true +EV play because it involved zero risk to my own money.

Yesterday, on my way to pick up my date, I stopped at Suncoast to swipe my card for their weekend promotion. No bet was required. I won a free dinner buffet. I used the buffet tonight (Sunday). It sucked, by the way, so I know never to pay for it.

Today I swiped my card again and I won $5 of free play. I played the five dollars on 5-cent 6/5 Bonus Poker and cashed out $3.50 and walked out.

That was +EV and all of it was without risk.

When you tell me you have to risk $400 for $40 of bonus or free play or a loss rebate think about it. Is that really +EV ?

Sure that's all +EV plays. Unless the buffet makes you sick...

The best part of the buffet was the sugar free apple pie. There's one good thing about Vegas Casino buffets: they've all mastered sugar free desserts.

Suncoast had steak that was tough, lasagna that was flimsy, vegetable fried rice that had too few vegetables and only a few "stations" to choose from. The server didn't bring me a steak knife until I was tired trying to chew the steak. Never got a refill of diet Pepsi and fortunately I didn't have to pay the regular price of $16.95

Those prizes were not totally free. You earned them with your previous play. I know this because I too swiped at Boyd all three weekend days. I swiped both my card, which I have played on and my late partners with has no or very little play on in recent months. On my card, I received prizes with minimal value, $10 free play, a free buffet and 10,000 points for the 3 days respectfully. On my partners card, which had little play in recent months, the prizes were a small point multiplier one day and entries into a drawing the other two. Nothing of any kind of value.

So if you got a buffet and free play as prizes, you earned that with previous play and it wasn't totally free. Might be +EV, depending on how much you played to earn that but it wasn't totally free.

No kewlj. Any card holder could swipe for the promotion. No previous play needed.

My previous play there was using $25 of real free play without making any deposit of real money unlike Red Rock.

But I can't argue with you because you know everything and I'm just an AP hater who is broke two days after getting my pension and social security checks.

See this is what I am talking about! Alan I just explained a player with no or little recent play will receive point multipliers or entries into a drawing as prizes. Little or no value. You must have registered some recent play to win prizes of free play, free buffets, points on your card, or cash...which at the level they are giving isn't worth much, but it is something.

I told you what I did. A couple days ago I played $25 of free play at Suncoast. That's it.

Previously I played at Sam's Town and when my mailer arrived for October I found I could use my $25 at Suncoast.

It is truly head-shaking watching people who want everybody who's reading to think they all have the gambling world figured out, when they go around crowing about the "value" they get out of swiping cards at kiosks for free filthy buffets, ten bucks, five dollars in free play, or running out to banks to get loads of coins to drag into the dirtiest casino in town for a 10% "bonus".

While my Sam's Town free play is valid at Suncoast it is not valid at any other Boyd property according to my October mailer. Can you explain that? I can't.

Are you sure my winning a buffet at Suncoast is linked to my free play of $25 a few days earlier? Do you really think their computer system updated that quickly to say "let's give this player a free buffet on October 8 because on October 4 he ran through his $25 of free play and took home $20 cash"?

Frankly I think I just happened to have gotten a free buffet at the Suncoast free drawing, and that's all it was. Gee, it was just a free buffet for ONE person. I think they gave it thinking I'd bring along a paying customer with me.

After decades of visiting casinos, how were you unaware that a buffet at a place like the Suncoast would be awful?

Harrah's Rincon was about as low as I'd go as far as the level of property where I'd be willing to eat the buffet, even for free.

I don’t think Rincon’s buffet was bad. Maybe I went on a good night. Got me some prime rib with nice n spicy horseradish (none of that creamy horseradish BS). I don’t remember what else I had, but I remember there being some good looking (fresh?) fruit. Oh and the most stereotypical looking black lady had a bowl of chili on her plate, fried chicken on the plate, and watermelon slices balanced on top of all that, some of it dripping into the chilli ( at least I think it was chilli?).

When you step back from what's being claimed and frame it clearly, it really is absurd. Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people, all trying to conquer and win at video poker. One individual, in the span of about a year, claims that he stumbled upon a series of special plays and denomination switches that somehow result in winning on negative games. Nobody else, of all of the thousands trying, is recognized as discovering even one special play or one denomination tweak that helps at all. Never mind that none of it makes mathematical sense or is supported by any game theorist, video poker writer/player, or professional mathematician. And never mind that what's being claimed is that playing non-optimally, on purpose, is supposed to have better results than optimal play.
