Tough to Fear Men who can only kill the body.
One should Fear God who can put your soul in HELL!
Confused as to what a thread about the arrival of Frank Thomas means. As for songs, Johnny Cash in a knockout.
As usual Alan is trying to cook up controversy and a story of some kind.
Shack and I did some test work on the video conferencing yesterday and tomorrow Heather will hopefully help iron out a few bugs. We did have a talk about what we'll be discussing. It had nothing to do with "hurt" and everything to do with his interest.Of course Alan will continue to shame himself over this with his made-up "I should have asked for proof so I'm a bad journalist" angle. All along all he was interested in was making money off of his reporting about me on his website. His meltdown came immediately after I berated him for being him. And why he keeps humiliating himself with his Andrew nonsense can only be attributed to a lifetime of self-caused problems. Other than that it sadly makes no sense.
So Heather did a great job and got all the bugs worked out of the video-conferencing software. Mike decided to do the interview today as soon as he saw everything was working fine on both ends. I wasn't prepared for that as I just came in from a motorcycle ride but we did it anyway. It's about a half hour in length.
I expect there'll be the usual drama and criticism whenever I show up: my nose is big, I look stupid, I sound dumb, etc. etc. But we both agree it was a fantastic interview.
Bring on the hurt!
I am in shock that the forum has not responded to this interview. I deleted my initial comments. One of the major driving threads/stories has not delivered the explosive response I expected. I guess that is why I am in the bleachers.
Assuming that the Wiz has played VP, I was surprised about how little Shack knew about the Double-Up feature.
He said that he has never played the Double-Up on a hand of VP.
My understanding is that the DU is among the best bets offered by the casino...but the Wizard of Odds has never bothered to analyze it?
Sigh.
Rob. I know you'll be reading. Mike actually invited me to be there while he interviewed you.
I didn't think there was enough investigation done prior to this interview.
Mike played softball with you, I would have never allowed that, I probably would have pulled the microphone away from Mike.
One of many questions would have been.... if you lied about all that other stuff in the past keeping up that ruse for years, why should anyone believe anything you say now?
You point blank said on the other Forum (not an exact quote) What Nestor and Kane did was illegal and I believe you said something about how they should have went to jail. Why would you say something like that in the first place? Something like that could have certainly been used against you in a court of law, basically you admitted you thought it was illegal, or at least that it could be illegal. You talk about trying to throw people off the trail, the best way to throw people off the trail is to just to keep quiet, be normal, and talk about normal things. Yet, you went out of your way to be deceptive and cantankerous to everyone on the forums for like 9 years in order to throw us off the trail, vent your anxiety, cover your ass or however you want to put it. Yes, I know Rob can't respond here, I will copy and paste it to another forum.
What is there really to say? Anyone that has spent any time on this forum didn't hear anything they hadn't heard before. And there was no proof or supporting evidence to support Rob's claim. We are right where we have been for over a year. I can't imagine anyone's mind was changed from whatever they thought going in, based on the last 16 months of discussion (and no proof).
I was disappointed in Mike. He asked for documents like tax forms and casino documents and Rob gave the excuse that he always does that he threw all that away. Then Mike brought up the RV and this is relevant because Rob has stated he used the money from the DU to purchase a 1.5 million dollar RV. I guess Mike didn't feel comfortable asking for proof of that. I think it is fair because Rob has volunteered that is where the money came from. But it didn't happen.
From Rob's standpoint he did fine. He was given yet again a platform to restate his claim yet again, offering nothing to support it. That is what he wanted and that is what Wizard provided him, so I guess good for Rob.
I guess I misunderstood that Mike was going to offer his opinion as to the likelihood that this occurred as Rob claimed. Maybe he didn't feel comfortable doing that or maybe he is waiting for someone to come out and flat out ask him. I don't know. But without that, like I said all he did was provide Rob the platform to repeat his claim.
But again, no minds were changed.
Why do you need to analyze a 50/50 proposition?
Other than the length entertainment value (perhaps getting free drinks) and other certain circumstances, there is absolutely no reason to use the double up feature. If you're playing a positive advantage that requires a large number of hands you want to avoid it. You're somehow getting extra points for doubling up or something like that and of course you would use it.
if you read one of my post and you listen to the interview. Rob claimed the double up bug was on multiple different versions of machines that all originally came out in different years. It will be easy to prove if that's the case. They would have had to send software updates to practically every machine in the casinos. However if this is the case it will certainly add to Rob story I don't know anybody that's giving me that information. I assumed it was only on one version of machines. S*** I've been wasting my time and only looking at one version of the machines. When I talked to Rob I swear I asked him exactly what versions of the machines and he described the ones I was thinking of.
axel: First, as I told Mike today, the reason I released this info to you was because after 15+ years of being totally silent on something of this magnitude, I HAD to let it out. I was a professional video poker player...it was necessary to tell someone--even a top critic. Secondary is whether anyone would believe me or not. The cover-up lying for all the years gave me an untrusting reputation, yes. But it all worked. Maybe not the best approach. But again, being believed or not on the DU bug has no effect on what we're doing tomorrow.
I also see where Alan and all his AndrewG wisdom is still hung up on the RV. Fact is, if we cashed out everything we have in retirement funds I could buy two of those stupid things, with money from our careers. He couldn't see that of course because he pours all his into alimony payments and the poker machines.
Regarding why I said what Kane/Nestor did was illegal: first, silence is not golden in every scenario. These guys clearly did something I still believe was illegal--using other people's pre-existing vp winners to collect many of their jackpots on. I never did and would never do that. THAT'S the main reason for what I said on this forum.
PS: go back and read the Wired article. I just told Mike one of the few things they got right is how the bug flowed freely in at least 99 released versions of IGT GameKings between 2002-mid 2009. If I recall, it said the bug was like a cockroach, infecting every version of software released until caught. That should help.
I did read that but that is beyond my knowledge. I just don't have any idea about that so I didn't comment. If you can look into that, you should.
There is a minor point that made absolutely no sense to me that I will mention. Doesn't prove anything one way or the other, but just doesn't fit.
Rob said he took all winnings from the DU in cash and stashed it in a safe. He didn't give an explanation for this, but I assumed it was to not draw attention, while this whole thing, that he says he was so stressed out about blew over. I mean he was waiting 10 years for the statue of limitations to expire. So then what does he do, a year later spends 1.5 million of that cash on an RV (or so he says). That is not consistent with laying low and not drawing attention. BUT, I am sure he has a story for that. No documentation that he is willing to show, but I am sure a story.
I also have recently come to believe the comments Rob made on this very forum somewhere around 2012, when discussion of Kane/nestor came up are very telling. Rob said what they did was illegal and they should go to jail. That simply is not something someone that made the play himself would say. And Rob's explanation that he was trying to throw people off the trail makes no sense. Who was he throwing off the trail? The members of this forum?
Had he been arrested for this as he says he feared at the time, that statement would have basically done him in. So he is either very, very stupid or lying and I don't think Rob is stupid. But this continues to be a he said (without any supporting evidence), so I guess everyone needs to decide that for themselves.
kew, we purchased the 2011 Newell in early 2013. How I handled that much cash is probably different than the next guy, who handles it different etc. But now maybe some people can see where I came up with the $640,000 escrow on the Fezzik challenge. I lied in my Gaming Today article, saying I withdrew it from my retirement account.
Read what I responded to axel about why I said Kane and Nestor should have been arrested. I was pissed when I heard they did that, which got them caught and rightfully so.
Lookin good Rob. Didn’t look a day over 97.
but the double up feature that you describe that's always on with the arrows pointing down came out way before 2002. I'm not a hundred percent sure when the don't ask me again version came out but I never saw that version until after 2009 as a matter of fact I want to say I didn't even notice it until about 2012.
Rob, I don't want to get into name-calling, but see the part I highlighted....you admitting you lied. You have done that over and over and over, including admitting that you intentionally lied several times during the interview. Can you see how we are way beyond taking you at your word for just about anything? How hard would it be for you to show a bill of sale for the RV? I mean we all know it wasn't 1.5 million. But whatever just put it up.
Rob one thing I will give you credit for. In the interview you said something about you resented AP's, because you tried to be a VP AP in the 1990's and failed. And that is why you attacked AP's back in the early 2000's when you had your column. I think that was about the most honest thing you ever said. Only thing is I think it has been a 20 year thing.
Absolutely no reason?...other than entertainment value, and an undefined number of other circumstances? LOL...so much for absolutes.
You're an ass.
I did a search and found a page about the Double-Up feature on the WOO website.
https://wizardofodds.com/ask-the-wiz...ker/double-up/
In light of that information, I'm even more surprised about how little Shack knew about the Double-Up...he seemed pretty clueless in the interview.
Anyway, I am not going to rehash anymore. There is no point.
Congrats Rob on the platform you were given to yet again make your claim, while offering nothing to support it.
In the absence of someone asking Mike his opinion, which is what I thought this was about, seems like a big waste of time to me. Maybe someone will still ask Mike.
I think you misunderstood what Mike said. I took it, as an AP Mike saw no value in doubling up any win, so he never pressed yes when offered. AP stands for advantage player. That means +EV plays. a 50/50 bet is not +EV. all it does is increase variance.
I also wouldn't count on the fact that Mike knew so little about this play. I suspect he knew a lot more than he let on. Mike was playing the part of the interviewer. His job, as he saw it, was to act as though he knew nothing about the play to get Rob to explain it in as much detail as possible so people could decide forthemselves whether Rob was credible or not. And he did that.
But now that the interview is over, I would like to hear the interviewer's opinion on the subject. But that's just me. :)
I'm really no expert on what came out when. But what I described was what I saw and played.
In my career, when software updates are released as newer versions then they are available for some or most of the older versions also. VP machines go thru constant software and some firmware updates/upgrades. And while the floors may or may not have had a lot of infected machines, I picked only one and only played it (with very few exceptions) at every casino I hit. I know and knew nothing about the rest of the machines.
I kind of hate when people say it is 50/50. When it most certainly is not thru a series of consecutive attempts. MustangSally even made a very good case on how it is a house advantage on the first attempt in this thread on the WoV.

Here's the video in case some of you didn't see it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtZAa6H53zo
Just watched a second time and there is something else that struck me. Mike tried really hard to give Rob the opportunity to apologize, first to Dancer specifically and then a second opportunity to anyone else. Rob declined the second opportunity saying there was nothing he wanted to apologize for. I don't know how much Mike reads this forum. I suspect not regularly, but probably enough to know some of the attacks Rob has made to various people and family members. Plus Mike dealt with that on his forum and likely knows from other forums. In case Rob didn't get it, That is what Mike was giving you an opportunity to express some regret for.
So anyway, lets re-look at that situation because Singers story has changed in the last 16 months. So for years, even decades, Singer told this tale of 10 years, a million dollars playing his super-duper progression system. A tale that mathematically couldn't be true and Rob now admits wasn't true. And yet, he viscously attacked anyone challenging that claim and the fact that it defied math. Let me say that again, he viscously attacked anyone that challenged a claim, he now admits was false, or as he says a "cover". I mean I am just the latest of a long list that includes Redietz, Axelwolf, Arci and Armede$ before my time on this forum, plus many more, even Mickeycrimm. Maybe mickeycrimm worst of all because Rob was so relentless. And of course many more on this forum, WoV, other forums and even in his column.
One more time: Rob viscously attacked people that were challenging a claim he now admits was a lie. Does that make any sense to anyone? And this went on for decades?
Rob's answer now is that this was all just trolling on internet forums because that is what forums are about. And with that in mind, why would anyone think this latest thing, the double up bug is anything more than more of that trolling. I mean the guy is flat out telling you everything he has said to this point is a lie, and yet he wants people to believe this latest claim. This is literally the modern Boy who cried Wolf story. And astonishingly I guess a few do. Not many, but a few.
I hope you don't lose any MORE sleep over this kew. :)
I'm not even going to waste time on it.
All joking, put downs, or whether he's telling the truth or not aside, I really don't care. It's not going to affect my life whatsoever.
Well at least this forum got a plug at the end. That couldn't hurt.
I think.
Questions to Rob:
1) Would you be willing to call the IRS and have them send you a tax return from one of those years, and then scan and post the relevant parts here (complete with IRS stamps/markings)? Obviously you can redact the parts with your SSN or whatever.
2) Alternatively, can you show a proof of purchase for that RV, or some kind of proof that you are the registered owner?
3) Did you or did you not pay with a players card when you did this trick?
4) How many casinos did you do this at, and how often did you visit the same casino?
5) You said in the video that you got a few $100k winners using this trick. If you were so worried about getting in trouble, which you seemed to be, why did you hit these machines for such high denomination wins, where the chance of them examining your play was higher?
Yes I believe it went well considering I was expecting only to test how the software worked today. I rushed back to the house after riding my bike---I do not wear a helmet and I do use straight pipes. It takes a bit to gather yourself after coming in from that. As far as the questions & overall content I'm satisfied with most of what I said, but I felt the questions could have been tougher.
We did postpone our trip but there are other things at work here that also made doing so worthwhile.
I think overall the interview went well Rob, I was expecting you to tell everybody to wise up.
Mike has been more than fair to me on this, seeing that I'm a banned member on his forum. I can't see him rendering an opinion without feeling he's offending someone so I don't expect we'd see a firm answer.
But I believe he, like yourself and others, are sitting on the toilet seat pushing REALLY hard trying to get a piece of information to come out, whether from me or elsewhere, that can be used to discredit what I did. That's where mickey's been different about how and why he sees things. He's able to add up all the things I've said and compare them to my history in order to come to his best conclusion. It's also why I would look forward to my answering your questions in another interview in a face-to-face setting. Tougher questions = tougher answers. I'm also much more comfortable in person.
I watched it and believe you came off OK but I don’t believe it changed anything for anyone. I don’t believe you care about that and seem to be ok with things that way.
What are your thoughts on Dan’s questions? They seem fair to try and respond to and at least one or 2 shouldn’t be that hard. I would think you would enjoy sticking it to some of your detractors, but maybe that isn’t important to you anyone. And you are fine with the uncertainty.
And I do think JB had it right when most of us will live either way. Unless RED is right, then we are all dead in the next 6 weeks.
1. Already tried a year ago. My daughter's ex is an IRS agent/area mgr. and I asked him. It's too long ago, records are destroyed unless there's criminal activity involved.
2. Sure I can show proof that I am the buyer of the RV but I'm not going to. How many here would immediately claim "a number looks funny!--it's photoshopped!" or "ha, he could have created the invoice yesterday!"? People needing to discredit it would discredit it somehow. And as I said in the interview, it's also proof that I had a good job when I worked. I could have used those funds for it if I chose to. The fact that I didn't means nothing, it resolves nothing, and it's really nobody's business.
3. Read axel's reply to this. Players card not used until after a win, losing 5% purposely at the highest denom.
4. I played every major casino in the state. I estimate one visit/casino every 3-5 months, depending on where I was in my goal to avg. $10,000/week. Not every win was huge and in fact, most weren't. There's a lot more 25c thru $5 machines than $1 thru $10 or $25 machines.
5. My mindset was to play without worrying. People who wilt are ineffective. The worry came after I left casinos but it passed quickly. I hit large jackpots playing my strategy in the past and multiple jackpots on the same machines. There was never any trouble or reviews that I saw. When you hit these large winners, they usually have a tech come over and scroll thru the screens to make sure nothing was tampered with physically or electronically. And nothing was. Plus, now we know any notion that upstairs re-runs videos of players who hit one jackpot let alone many, was completely disspelled by the play of Kane and Nestor.
I just did reply to Dan.
I don't dwell on sticking it to anybody any more. Can't do that forever. My story got out, that's what I needed to do, and leave the rest to the individuals. What I got most out of working this play is not the money, as odd as that may sound. It's how I feel whenever I walk into any Nevada casino. It's like I'm completely in charge, even though I no longer am. The memories are incomparable.
Rob, I Tried quoting you but I think I timed out because I got a phone call.
You can probably figure out what post I was quoting, I'm too lazy to go look it up at this point.
You describe how it worked on all the various different types of machines. The one you mostly describe was the one that said "don't ask me again"
What If it's proven that it wasn't even possible on anything but one chipset/type of machine what would you say to that? Again, if it's only available on one chipset if I would have to come to the conclusion but you're not telling the truth. There's no reason to talk about the other double up's on machines that it doesn't pertain to. And again, if it was available on those other machines/ chipsets that you described, I would have to say that greatly adds credibility to your story.
Whatever the case, I voiced my Strong opinion and said it was a terrible idea for Mike do this interview, especially without more investigation on his part and not knowing exactly how it works. How could he possibly challenge you on anything? He didn't even bring up the whole Alan Mendelson thing. The only thing that this accomplished as far as the double up bug goes was start more debate after the interview(just kind of f***** up anyways, since you can't even post on that forum.) I don't like that, because everything is now tainted. Going forward you now you have the ability to think about everything and come up with an answer from behind the computer. Truthful or not, I don't like that because it always leaves room for people to believe you had time to think about your answer and concoct something or do further research before you answer. The interview went nowhere and it was thoroughly disappointing on most aspects, but a few. Mike brought up a few things that he needed to push more and challenge your answers.
The one thing I did find very interesting is the fact that you admitted that had you kept playing your VP betting system, you probably would have lost. I think that's the most substantial thing we got out of the interview. You should certainly feel bad if anybody did lose money trying to use your system and if they can prove that, you should repay them their money. I don't know how one could prove that. I'm wondering if someone could successfully sue you over that? How many people did purchase your books?
If we find out the double up bug feature was only available on one Chip set I would have to conclude that you're not telling the truth. Someone I know that works in the industry, they said to their knowledge it was only available on one chipset. Whenever someone says "to their knowledge" it ends up leaving doubt. However, someone knows the answer to this. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have those machines at their house that were purchased prior to the update. There's someone on Wizard of Vegas that claims to have one of these machines. I asked him to send me a video of the double which process. I can't remember exactly what he said I just know it was a let-down that seems like it was more interested I'm trying to hit a royal * shrug shoulders.
Hey, how come we never got a goddamn tour of that RV?
I certainly hope that isn't your computer room, it looks thoroughly depressing.
I'm a bit annoyed that at the how this was all fast tracked without any real perpetration.
How do you get a t-shirt with a collar so tight your sagging neck completely obscures the collar at times. "I've heard about your RV" says the interviewer. Lol Rob Singer rolls eyes uncomfortably. rofl. I can't watch 45 minutes of this as I need to do shit, but one of these days for the full chuckle it is happening.
Ok, so here's the thing. Rob has stated here a number of times that "after 15 years of keeping this secret, he just had to tell someone". That never made sense to me. So during the interview Rob, again stated this. Mike's response....one word. "Why?" So like many of us that didn't make sense to Mike either.
So for whatever reason, after 10 years, Rob decided he just had to tell someone. Can we all agree, he would have wanted those he told to believe him. And he would have saved or planned to provide some sort of evidence right. I mean if he just had to tell people, he wouldn't want almost no one believing him right?
So Dan has now asked for the same supporting evidence that most of us have been asking for a year now, tax info. Dan has suggested Rob contact the IRS for copies of this info. Rob conveniently has a family member that works for the IRS and says that is impossible. Rob always has an answer. I don't know how that works, but that doesn't seem credible to me. I am aware that tax payers aren't required to keep copies of info for more than a certain period of time, but why wouldn't the IRS. It is not like they have to keep the actual paper documents. It would be a tiny bit of computer data. Unlimited storage ability.
But in the absence of that, we are back to how this whole second wave of interest started. Alan, suggested Rob show documentation of the RV that Rob himself claims he bought with the DU bug money. Again, that is Rob's own claim. I mean Rob couldn't even come up with a dealership when asked last week. Who wouldn't know the dealership that you supposedly made a 1.5 million dollar purchase from. ;) Now in answer to DanDruff's request for that same info, Rob is just going with a "No, I don't want to do that".
It just is not credible that Rob just had to tell someone, so badly, but yet refuses to provide any supporting documentation that would support his extraordinary claim.
The only interesting post here is Axel's catch of Rob saying his betting system would have lost over time. Does this mean from AP style of playing or his actual play with win goal/loss limit style of play? I believe this to be an answer of supreme importance.
Slingshot, That is nothing new. Every AP and math guy already knew this long go. THAT is exactly why we find Rob's claims so objectionable. They defy math and logic.
I will go as far to say, YOU, one of the few that supports him and his crap already knew this. When Rob first revealed this DU bug, YOU were offended that his changing story meant that the play you were supporting was phony. You even used some strong terminology along the lines that you had been "lied to". Then as time went on, inexplicably you seemed to fall back in line again.
There is an old saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". Well I don't think he is any longer "fooling you", but for some reason, you are having a real hard time seeing the truth vs what you want (or wanted) to believe.
I did like the Fox News Alert chime during the interview. I’m going to assume that was on Rob’s end, I don’t see the Wizard getting them.
Yes it was!
Why was it dark in the room I was in? Mike asked me to use a computer that had a camera. We have 2 laptops and the desktop I was at for this, and none have a camera. So I ordered one from Amazon overnight and my 14-yr. old grandson installed it in minutes. I wanted it below the screen. When Mike connected I noticed right behind my head was a ceiling fan with three 150 watt white led bulbs, which was blinding to anybody watching. So I turned it off.
The "tight around the neck" shirt is a NE Patriots shirt (I'm now a Tampa Bay fan) I use while riding because it has long sleeves. Ride in this heat/sun and you'll understand.
Kew, check the housing market over here. It's been going up steadily, making it impossible for anyone taking out an equity loan to be anywhere near "underwater". Instead of lying think how stupid you appear when you say stuff like this, even to sabre.
axel, just come out and say it--you're going to keep on trying to find something until you even in the slightest think you have, which you will then be able to proclaim "he's been lying!" It's the same thing kew does with his obsession over my personal life.
Someone "in the business" is hardly qualified to have been tuned into all the numerous software updates to new and old equipment alike, unless they have the internal spec sheets and memos to support the assertion. Nobody, even folks like your friend, knows the things I know about this play, which is why mickey, when skeptical, put out a reward to anybody who told me anything about how this play works.
Further, the two low limit machines I found that were still infected at Az. Indian casinos 3-1/2 years ago both had the double up button at the bottom along with the "don't ask again" question. So that would be my response.
It sounds like you don't want a follow-up interview? Either way is fine. I'll do it because I said I would, but if you don't see the point in it then that's OK too.
Edit: my family just informed me that since I finished what I had to do, I'm to get the rig ready for a departure date tomorrow. That'll give several of you plenty of time to make more things up about me for at least 3 weeks until we get up around Tahoe. And I may not even bother visiting back at that time. I had my say. Believe it....or not.
Axel, let me know via pm if and when you'd like the next interview to occur. Bring your guy who's in the business. I assume he's a tech? We'll talk software, hardware, etc.
There is zero chance that Axel will allow a video of himself interviewing you to be shared on any of these forums without his personage hidden, and his voice distorted.
He never explained why he declined Mike's invitation in the first place...when he would have ripped the mic away from the Wiz and go after you with really tough questions.
If these high-profile doubters want first-hand proof of your RV, why not invite them to meet you somewhere en route to your next destination for a personal tour?
I didn't think about axel's anonymity. But if we do an interview then we do it face-to-face. No voice distortions/no facial hiding.
My next destination is S. Dakota, then Minnesota. We're going thru Colorado, where we will spend a few days at an RV park near Boulder. Anybody who wants to meet us there send me an email. But you will not be allowed near my wife or grandchildren. I'll have a Glock 29 10mm and a backup 380 LCP II to support that.
BTW axel, if we have an interview then I need to know a little more about what you're saying. I'm not at all clear on what your questioning. I also would need to talk to your inside guy to see if and what he knows about whatever you're looking for. I'm not going to be here after this, so please keep those things in mind for any interview.
I just want some compelling evidence either way. At least something that tips the scales. To be honest, I want to see the good in everyone and I think it would be great to get some evidence you DID play the double up bug. Yes, I would push much harder than Mike and be more prepared. Don't you agree he should have at least known more about the machines in question? "I don't think I even used the double up" Certainly isn't someone who should be asking you questions.
I would love to do a follow up, but there's no rush. Whatever the case, overall I think this is all positive thing.
You are correct, I will not allow a video of my face to be posted publicly. You are incorrect, that I would want to distort my voice. I have zero issue with my voice being out there.
There's zero reason anybody needs to see my face other than Rob or anyone directly involved. People do podcasts all the time, including the " popular" GWAE and nobody's face is shown. I wouldn't even ask that Rob face be shown if he didn't want that. I would be entirely up to him. It can all be done via voice only if that works.
I did in fact explain why I didn't accept Mike's invitation. I will explain in more detail, the invite was for the most part last minute, at that point I didn't think there was enough research done to have a proper interview. I never played one of these machines so I don't know the exact sequence or exactly what machines it works on. I only know what I've been told, those people did not actually play the bug themselves, their job was to fix the bug. And when I hear things like" to my knowledge" that doesn't exactly give me enough confidence. I want to know for certain. I wanted to rip the mic out of Mike hand because he was playing softball and rushing through certain details that we need to know more about. When speaking with Mike, I don't even think he remembered that Rob wrote at least two books. There are many other things I think should have been explained and asked in more detail.
I almost find that personally offensive. I would NEVER do anything to harm your family whatsoever, nor would I ever want any harm to come to them or you. I'm just interested in your story, again, I hope there's a way to tip the scales in your favor. I actually think it's pretty cool that you wrote for Gaming Today. I believe you mentioned that you worked in the Aerospace industry? I like to know more about that. I would never have a problem breaking bread with you. If told me something in confidence and asked me to keep it to myself, I would. There's plenty of times I put a counter but you bunk something somebody told me and private and even after they put my private stuff up I didn't expose what they have said to defend myself. I suppose under certain circumstances and I felt forced into it, I might very well do so. I'm sure I probably said something that someone mentioned to me p.m. that wasn't a big deal or there's a chance I accidentally sliped up.
Which brings us to an interesting point. According to Rob's timeline:
1.) Rob attempted unsuccessfully, to play AP video poker for 6 years, 1994-2000 I believe.
2.) Rob claims to have played his progressive betting, 'special plays' system from sometime in 2000 until sometime in 2004 when he discovered the DU bug.
3.) Rob played the DU bug from sometime in 2004 to sometime in 2009.
It is number 2 that I want to focus on. The listed publish date of Rob's book, The undeniable truth about video poker, is December 12, 2000. Assuming the writing of the book took place earlier that year, Rob was several months, into his first year of playing his system, that he now claims he played for 4 years, $375k. Several months into his first year and he writes a book?
The timing is completely backwards. This is an agenda. And proof that you simply cannot believe a word out of this person's mouth.
In March 2004, I quit my job and began supporting myself from blackjack play. Would it have been reasonable to you if in the summer or fall of 2004, I wrote a book entitled, Secrets of a professional blackjack player?
Ever heard the term putting the cart before the horse? That is what the timing of Rob's book vs his now evolved claims amounts to.
But I will say no more, except to say yesterdays interview while entertaining, did nothing towards getting to the bottom of anything.
Others have commented on Rob's appearance. I am not going to do that. It is what it is. But I will comment on the appearance of the gentleman that was interviewing Rob. I initially wasn't going to because I knew it would ignite the homophobic crowd. But since others have now commented on Mike's appearance (including his boss), I will also. I personally am not a huge fan of facial hair. But Mike's new look (not sure how new it is, but it was new to me), looked good on him. Somehow made him look a little more distinguished.
I haven't read Singer's book, so I can't comment on the content...have you read it?
I'm not sure that Singer's "undeniable truth" includes the secrets of his (at that time) newly developed strategy.
But, if you had played VP unsuccessfully for several years, then developed a strategy whereby you began to win consistently, I wouldn't find it unreasonable if you wrote a book about it after several months.
The same could be said for you and blackjack, except that the winning strategy you employ wasn't developed by you.
Now about the agenda...what was Singer's agenda, especially with respect to the timing of the book?
