Casino Promotion Scams? :/

I am getting "Text Promotions," from "Gulfstream Park Casino, ". First one was claiming on Wednesday night that I had won 500(Didn't specify whether it was $500 or $5.00 in free play which was the first red flag) for a Hot Seat Giveaway for visiting recently. The Hot Seat Promotion had happened on Sunday when I visited but the Hot seat Promotion was from 12-6 and at 12-6 I had been working, so obviously didn't qualify for the Promotion. The second red flag was the fact that the window was way too short. Gave me the "Free play Promotion Text," at around 9 PM when I was already in bed and claimed I had until 11 PM to use it. What Legitimate Promotion gives a two hour window? I was going to go to Gulfstream Park Casino the very next day as I have $120 in free play for the entire month of August.

The very next day, I went to GPC Player's Club to ask them about this weird Promotion text. The Staff Member looked confused and mentioned that he felt this was a SCAM and a HOAX as they don't send ANY text Messages and mentioned this weird Text Message didn't come from GPC
He called his Boss about this weird Promotion Text and his Boss reiterated that this was a SCAM and a HOAX as they don't send Texts. I brushed it off thinking that maybe this was a one time game that some random person was doing to random people.

Last night, this number on the text called me but I was asleep. When I woke up, I got a text message from the same saying I had $60 in points for my play yesterday. I had back to back free play on Thursday and Friday. I was beginning to get a bit weirded out.

Today, I got a THIRD TEXT from this Number claiming I had two free bus tickets to go play at GPC. I am seriously getting creeped out now. This is getting disturbing especially since this number should have NO idea I take the bus....

In fact, here are the exact texts.

First message.

Wednesday, August 19th 2020 at 8:56 PM.

Hi KAREN, thank you for visiting gulfstream. You have earned 500 hot seat freeplay. It is valid until 11pm.

Second message.

Friday, August 21st, 2020 at 11:40 PM

HI KAREN, thank you for your patronage. You have earned 60 dollars in points for your play today.

Third message.

Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:05 AM.

HI KAREN, thank you for your patronage. You have earned 2 one way tickets for the bus for your play today.

Shit, that makes total sense. Funny, but not very cool, whoever has Tasha's number. Hopefully, this ends up being a, "Once was enough," sort of joke...but I don't think I'd bet on it.

ADDED: Tasha, you can change your phone number for something like $5-$10, I think. Just contact whoever your phone provider is. They'll sometimes even waive the fee if you say you are getting excessive spam calls.

So, this phone number is a, "Non-Fixed VoIP," number. What that means is that it is a number than can be used by something like Skype, Google Voice or other free-to-call/text type of things. IOW, it doesn't, "Belong," to anyone.

Curious have you received any text from anyone claiming to be from a bank or government office of course in a third world country, citing 30, 50, 90, maybe 200 million dollars was left to you in an unclaimed fund?

That's a good site. Maybe use both. I will say this having checked a couple phone numbers on that one:

---It's wrong about who owns my number, because it says someone who is not me.

---It is correct about my fiancee's number.

On a few other people I know:

Five correct.

Two wrong.

Two, "Did not return a valid result."***

Whitepages.com seems mostly just concerned with what sort of phone it is and what provider owns the number, at least on the search I used.

Anyway, good tip! Definitely worth checking both (and maybe others) if you're suspicious of something.

***I imagine that, the longer someone has a number, the more likely it is to be correct.

Agree with Max. So you gave your phone number to a person or multiple people on this site??

If you did, that was a stupid thing to do.

My advice would be a switch your number or just buy another Tracphone.

I only have ONE phone. These text messages really did come from someone named Max who claimed to be in Marketing! I'm telling the truth!

And... The latest Text mentions a Manager named Ken TryBerg(Kentry). LMAO! The Text Promotions seemed legitimate until they started "Name dropping" Names that seem eerily similar to Posters/Socks from THIS website but now it's obvious it's a Hoax. LMAO! No wonder The REAL Player's Club Staff had NO idea about these Promotion Texts! :D And even told me they felt these "Promotions," were a SCAM and a HOAX.. I looked at The Christine Lee's Restaurant Promotion and JUST realized they spelled it Christie Lee the very first time instead of Christine Lee's Restaurant.

Yep, yep, yep. These shady Promotion Texts were OFFICIALLY a Scam and a HOAX. Gulfstream Park Casino had my OLD number on file. They didn't even KNOW my current number until today! Also, another red flag was that there is a Typo on my name on my Gulfstream Park Casino Player's Club Cards. No way in hell should they have been calling me Karen when that's NOT how my name is spelled on my Player's Club Cards... I should have known from the get go that these Promotion Texts were a Scam and a HOAX.

I got some more weird Casino Text Promotions yesterday. They gave me Casino Text Promotions claiming I had an hour to go pick up my Free Play... From a Casino I haven't visited in MONTHS. I said,"Not interested," and they asked me if I was married. A REAL Staff Member would have responded something like,"Okay, that's understandable, have a nice day, "not something personal like,"Are you Married?" I pressed,"Block Number, " and the problem was solved. I was NOT going down that rabbit hole again. I'm still curious on how these Scammers got my number.

No, it really happened to me yesterday. I refused to make a fool of myself and ask Player's Club for this "Promotion," knowing this same "Promotion," happened to me over a year ago and Player's Club had no idea about the Text and in fact didn't even have my new number on file, only had my old number on file. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The thought that this woman named Karen shows up at a player's club and starts asking about some bullshit promotion because she got a txt due to being doxed at some point. Being able to watch it would be priceless.

Hmm. They are at it again . I am getting more "Casino Text Promotions," from Casino Miami and they are comical... They were like,"Kentry will give you your free play at Casino Miami!" LMAO! :D But the number this time claims to be from a 305 number and they sent me a text picture of the ACTUAL Casino Miami Mailer I received to my house. That was a bit Creepy and spooky, I admit. (It's only $2, not really worth it to go to a Casino for only $2 in free play).
