An affidavit is a written statement made under oath to be used as evidence.
False statements in an affidavit, as with false statements in a sworn declaration, can lead to a criminal charge of perjury.
It is hoped that people will be "more honest" in a formal affidavit than they would in their everyday, non-sworn statements.

In my years of practicing I've never seen someone locally conviceted of perjury, and there's a shit-load of lying in courts.

Once day I was in court waiting my turn to argue a motion, and I watched two lawyers arguing to the judge; the position of each was diametrically opposed to the other, with completely different claims being made.
Toward the end the judge slammed a book to get their attention, glowered at the two lawyers, and said "I am sick and tire of people coming into my courtroom and lying. Now continue."
Not affidavit related, but down memory lane...
A Portland lawyer represented a teen age girl, age 16, in a personal injury case.
He had a good result for her and invited her to "celebrate" their victory; she agreed.
He rented a limo, together with limo driver, and spent time with her, tootling around stumptown.
At the end he bragged to the limo driver that he plied her with alcohol and then had sex with her in the limo; unbeknownst to the horn-dog shyster the driver was an off-duty cop, moon-lighting.

Redeitz, I apologize in advance for hijacking this particular thread. If you feel the need, request that Druff remove my post. But I want to issue an opinion, related to this whole matter, which you have asked for privately.
You are wasting your time (hopefully not much money) on this. It may very well be that you have a legitimate case and can prove that Rob's statements that you or someone on your behalf solicited him and that he is repeating this claim against you, a real and known person with a reputation in the world of sports handicapping has indeed damaged your reputation and mayby cost you business (and money). But these cases are just an incredible hard case to bring. Especially when the damage done occurs on the internet. Right or wrong...that is the fact of it. The internet and all these forums are a breeding ground for fueling these kind of lies and attempting to damage someone's credibility or reputation. IT is what many of these forum have become about. The only person that can stop it is the person that owns or runs the forum and in almost all cases that person enjoys that type of behavior.
Maybe it will someday change. And maybe lawsuits and substantial financial judgements to those who engage in this behavior is what is needed to make that change come about. I don't know. BUT, YOU aren't going to get that from Rob. Whatever money you spend on Attorneys and depositions and everything, even if your case is cut and dry, you will end up with some C.B equipment and electronics from the 80's. And Rob will continue to laugh at what a dick he is all the way to the poor house.
Actually, Rob can't even afford the poor house, so he mooches off his kids. That is and was his whole retirement plan. Mooch off his kids. I've already gotten legal advice. To sue or not to sue Rob Singer isn't the primary concern. My reputation is my primary concern. I will be sending affidavits to Todd Witteles regarding my 45 years of business practices, if he provides a physical address. If he does not, I will post them here. Then, if Mr. Argentino wants to match those affidavits saying they are false, we'll have at it. If anyone want to publicly state that those affidavits are not truthful, we will have at it. If that requires acquiring names from Mr. Witteles, then that's what will happen.

My work as a Govt Agent was in Military Intelligence. I trained with the CIA and I worked closely with them and for them overseas. I was paid by the DoD. So if you want to say I'm claiming to be a James Bond as you have several times in the past, that's untrue. But my work was dead serious and at times, deadly. And there's a close connection between current and former agents. I helped get my nephew into the FBI.

I went through this with Moses, so I have a pretty good understanding. Internet stalking and threats: There is a unit or collaboration between law enforcement officers in a major city and the FBI is part of that collaboration because there is often jurisdictional issues involving multiple state lines. So in my case 5 or 6 years ago after Moses had threatened me on multiple forums, I went to the Metropolitan Police and was directed to a person on the team that worked on internet/social media threats. They took my report but it was pretty apparent, they didn't take it all that seriously. I mean can you imagine if every threat on every internet forum and social media platform were taken really seriously? Gonna need a hundred million more cops and agents. :rolleyes:
I was ok with this because part of why I filed a complaint was just so it was on record if I ever needed to defend myself.
So several year later, after Moses was banned from this forum for threatening to come to Las Vegas and find me and then two months later, actually showed up at my building, another complaint was filed involving the same person and they took it much more seriously. Now I didn't file that second complaint, security at my building did. But I could tell it was taken more seriously as I was brought in to say who it was and the circumstances. I think it was the showing up at the property that escalated the second situation to be taken more seriously.
So that is entirely different than what Rob is talking about, a single incident of during a heated discussion on a message board of an implication to shoot someone. It just wouldn't be taken seriously. But Rob is doing what Rob always does. he is detached from reality and making up his own.
