NCAA Basketball
Used to bet it years ago but I quit.
Here's my first pick of the year:
LSU vs University of Missouri KC - Under 137
Weird 0-0-1 start to my 2020s NCAAB career. Game was looking over the entire time, but scoring died and bought me a tie. Had I picked it a few minutes earlier, it would've been a win. Oh well.
Here's another -- a dog which you have plenty of time to bet. Moneyline it at your own peril, but I'm sticking to the spread on this one.
Georgia Southern +12 at Santa Clara
And here's a NCAAB total:
UC Riverside at Loyola Marymount - Over 138.5
1-1 yesterday, winning Riverside over and losing Georgia Southern. Now 1-1-1.
Starting soon:
Harvard +125 vs UL Lafayette
Charleston +19 at University North Carolina
Northern Iowa +240 at Richmond (+6.5 ok)

Fordham +19.5 at Arkansas
Pennsylvania +12 at Missouri
Illinois -25.5 vs Missouri KC (ploppy pick)
Eastern Michigan +17.5 vs Michigan
6-4 yesterday.
Ohio vs Cleveland State - Under 137
Lost the Ohio under, dropping me to 7-6-1 overall, and +0.37 units.
Two more for today:
Nevada vs Grand Canyon under 137.5
Georgia State vs Georgia Tech - under 136.5
Here's a more detailed accounting of the last 2 days:
11/11:
Harvard +125 vs UL Lafayette - LOST

Northern Iowa +240 at Richmond (+6.5 ok) - LOST (spread lost too)

Georgia State vs Georgia Tech - under 136.5 - WON
Total: 2-1, +0.82 units
Total both days: 8-5, +2.28 units
Record before 11/11: 1-1-1, -0.09 units
Overall record: 9-6-1, +2.19 units
Oakland +8.5 -106 vs Oklahoma State
Youngstown State +10.5 at Notre Dame
Pacific at North Dakota State - Over 147.5 -107
VMI at Davidson - Under 142
2-2
One easy win (Pacific over), one big loss (Oakland), one sorta close win (Youngstown), one sorta close loss (Davidson under).
11-8-1, +2.03 units is now my record
Utah -23 vs Idaho State (ploppy pick)
Santa Clara +7 at Utah State
Louisiana at Texas Tech - Under 132.5
1-2 yesterday, only winning Texas Tech under.
Now 12-10-1, +0.94
Today:
Temple vs Vanderbilt - Under 133.5
Lost yesterday.
Now 12-11-1, -0.06 units
Today:
Valparaiso at Chicago State - Under 138
Ball State at Nebraska Omaha - Under 143.5
Split 'em, with the Ball under winning.
Today:
Indiana State vs North Dakota State - Over 151
More:
Louisiana Lafayette vs Lousiana Tech - Under 139.5
Loyola Chicago at Tulsa - Over 141
Northern Illinois +12 -107 at Georgia Tech
Went 2-2, winning both overs, losing the other two.
Now 14-13-1, -0.24 units
Idaho State -3.5 vs Denver
Santa Clara +121 vs DePaul (+2.5 ok)
Idaho State blew it at the end. Santa Clara dominated the whole way.
Now 15-14-1, -0.03 units
North Dakota vs Montana State - Under 137.5
Colorado at Boise State - Over 139.5 -115
UCLA vs Baylor - Under 147
Ouch, 0-3. Colorado over had a horrible 2H, I thought that would win.
Now 15-17-1, -3.03 units.
I'm going to continue firing at NCAAB but change up the process a bit.
Here's a moneyline
St. Joseph's +130 vs Georgia
Lost St. Josephs.
Last minute:
St. Bonaventure vs Southern Indiana - Under 137.5
George Washington vs UC San Diego - Under 138.5
Here's some more NCAAB which you'll have time to bet:
Nevada +165 at Kansas State (+5 ok)
U Louisiana Lafayette +1.5 at SMU
Sacramento State +155 at UC Davis
Nevada blew a big comeback. Were ahead with the ball with 14s but lost in OT. Ugly.
Bonaventure under looked great at the half and lost.
Sac blew a 40-30 lead and lost.
Went 1-4. Only won Lafayette. Ouch.
I don't blame you if you don't trust my college picks right now, but I do like this one:
UC Riverside -1 at Abeline Christian
Florida Gulf Coast -6 vs Missouri KC
Forgot to post the pick I made on the other site, which was Alabama -4.5 at Michigan State. Won. Also won the other two. That breaks a pretty bad slump, which put me down over 8 units.
Now 18-22-1, -5.30 units
Starting 5pm PST
Central Michigan +9.5 -106 at California Baptist
Lost
Now 18-23-1, -6.30 units
Today:
Canisius +215 at Buffalo (+5.5 or better ok)
Florida -1.5 at West Virginia
Oregon State -4 -115 at Portland State
Lost all 3 of them yesterday, none close.
Now 18-26-1, -9.30 units (ugh)
Against my better judgment, I will bet a dog (not moneyline) in NCAAB.
Troy +16 at Arkansas
Won the Troy pick. Now 19-26-1, -8.39 units
Here's a dog moneyline for today:
Charlotte +165 at Davidson (+4 ok)
What an ending to the Charlotte game.
Nobody could score in the final 2:10, tied 59-59. So if went to OT. I know... lol college hoops.
It's 66-65 Davidson, and Charlotte gets fouled with 12s left in OT. Player misses both. Ugh. But Charlotte gets the rebound, tries for a 3 (??), misses. Charlotte gets rebound again. Same player tries for another 3 at buzzer. Score!!!
Charlotte wins 68-66!
Now 20-26-1, -6.74 units
CSU Fullteron +8.5 at Seattle
CSUF was ahead most of the game, then collapsed at the end, but only lost by 7. So my pick covered. Now 21-26-1, -5.83 units
Oklahoma State +8.5 at Connecticut
Detroit +165 at Purdue Fort Wayne (+4 ok)
Oakland +150 at Cleveland State (+3.5 ok)
Valparaiso +9 at Belmont
Utah +7 vs Arizona
Washington State +170 at Oregon (+4 ok)
Canisius burned me before, but I'll try again. (NCAAB)
Starting in a few:
Canisius +7 at Siena
Results yesterday (not including the Canisius starting right now, of course):
Oklahoma State +8.5 at Connecticut - LOSS (very close, sadly)
Detroit +165 at Purdue Fort Wayne (+4 ok) - WIN
Oakland +150 at Cleveland State (+3.5 ok) - LOSS
Valparaiso +9 at Belmont - LOSS
Utah +7 vs Arizona - WIN (OUTRIGHT)
Washington State +170 at Oregon - LOSS
2-4, -1.44 units
Now 23-30-1, -7.27 units
Canisius lost but covered for me.
Now 24-40-1, -6.36 units
Kansas State -7 vs Witchita
College of Charleston -12.5 at Citadel
K State sleepwalked for too long, only won by 5. College of Charleston easily covered their big spread.
Now 25-31-1, -6.45 units
Valparaiso +150 vs Murray State (+4 ok)
Valparaiso had a 10-point lead near halftime. Went to OT. Lost in OT by 7. Sad!
Now 25-32-1, -7.45 units
Iowa +2 at Duke
Missouri Kansas City +17 at Oklahoma
Wisconsin -2 -107 vs Maryland
Pepperdine -2.5 vs Nevada
Starting in a few:
Cornell +14.5 -105 at Miami Florida
Villanova -14.5 -108 vs Pennsylvania
Report from yesterday:
Iowa +2 at Duke - LOST
Missouri Kansas City +17 at Oklahoma - LOST
Wisconsin -2 -107 vs Maryland - WON
Pepperdine -2.5 vs Nevada - LOST
All but Iowa were on pace to win for most of the game, which made this annoying. Felt like I was going to go 3-1, went 1-3.
Now 26-35-1, -9.52 units
One more today.
Time for a half/half bet. These are "half" picks, meaning I am placing half a unit on each of these on the same side in the same game, making it a bit smoother, variance-wise.
Dayton +175 at Virginia Tech - FIRST HALF ONLY
Dayton +255 at Virginia Tech (entire game)
Cornell +14.5 -105 at Miami Florida - WON (almost outright)
Villanova -14.5 -108 vs Pennsylvania - LOST
Dayton +175 at Virginia Tech - FIRST HALF ONLY - LOST (half unit)
Dayton +255 at Virginia Tech (entire game) - LOST (half unit)
That makes me 1-2, -1.05 units for the day.
Now 27-37-1, -10.57 units
Sacramento State +2 -105 vs Long Beach State (moneyline +120 ok)
Cal State Northridge +1 -108 vs Northern Colorado
Won Sac State, lost Northridge
Now 28-38-1, -10.62 units
Today:
Ohio +185 at Youngstown (+5 ok)
Ohio blew a 50-31 lead in the early 2nd half, then blew a 6 point late lead, and blew a 3-point lead with the ball and 7s left.
Somehow they made a really fast layup with almost no time left in the game, and won 81-79. Nice +185 hit for me.
Now 29-38-1, -8.77 units
NC Greensboro +123 vs Marshall (+2.5 ok)
Note that in the above pick, I accidentally switched up the teams, posting the pick was Marshall +123 -- a line which never existed anywhere. I meant NC Greensboro +123, and noticed it about 30 seconds after I posted it, and quickly fixed it. Hopefully nobody saw that and accidentally bet on Marshall, but obviously if you did, you'd see the line would have been like -140 and it wouldn't have made sense anyway.
Chicago State +12 -105 at Murray State
2-0 day, including a +123
Chicago State almost won outright, leading by 15 at the half, and by 6 near the end, but they shot it off and lost by 1 in a heartbreaker. If I had the massive moneyline (which I was too scared to bet because I didn't believe they would win), that would've been a heartbreaker.
I might start doing 0.5-unit moneyline bets on the first half of a lot of these college dogs I like, because it seems like so often they're leading after 1H, then collapse. I tried this once (half on 1H, half on game) with Valparaiso, but it was a blowout the whole way and I lost both. But I would've lost the same had I bet normally, of course. I might start doing this again soon.
In any case, now I'm 31-38-1, -6.59 units, and have gained 3.98 units since December 9.
Maryland -1.5 vs UCLA
Duquense -3 -109 vs DePaul
Miami Ohio +15.5 -108 at Cincinnati
South Florida -12.5 vs Dartmouth
From Wednesday, I went 1-2.
Only Duquense won, on a day when all 3 picks were clear winners and losers the whole way.
Now 32-40-1, -7.67 units
Waiting for the South Florida game to complete so I can update further.
Didn't cover South Florida. They were never up by more than 8, and game ended up a 4-pointer.
Now 32-41-1, -8.67 units
North Texas -4 at Massachusetts
Florida International +14.5 -107 at Florida Atlantic
Northwestern -8.5 vs DePaul
Won 2 of 3, losing only FIU.
Now 34-42-1, -7.85 units
San Diego +10.5 +10.5 -107 at Arizona State (half unit)
San Diego +290 at Arizona State FIRST HALF (half unit)
This is what I was talking about earlier -- placing a first half moneyline on a college basketball dog, and also an entire game spread bet, but making each half my usual size.
Los the SD pick on both sides. Remember, these were half units. Now 35-42-1, -8.85 units.
Today:
UC Riverside -5 vs San Diego
Illinois Chicago +14 -108 at Northwestern
Lost both yesterday. Riverside made OT but got blown out at that point. Now 35-44-1, -10.85 units.
San Francisco +145 vs Arizona State (+3 ok)
SF currently up 81-36 with 7 mins left. I think I can call this one a victory.
Now 36-44-1, -9.40 units
Wright State -2.5 at Miami Ohio
Portland State +190 at Cal Baptist - FIRST HALF (half unit)
Portland State +7 at Cal Baptist - FULL GAME (half unit)
I screwed myself with that weird half/half pick thing. It was a tie at the half, and then Portland State barely won outright. I would have done better with either full game Portland +7 or full game moneyline. Oops. Anyway, I end up with a weird 0.5-0-0.5 record on that game, up 0.45 units. I also won the Wright State bet, though they almost blew it at the end.
Now 37.5 wins, 44 losses, 1.5 ties, -8.04 units
Starting now:
Kennesaw State +17 -118 vs Indiana
Won, though Kennesaw almost blew the spread despite being tied at halftime.
Now 38.5 - 44 - 1.5, -7.19 units
San Jose State +169 vs UNLV
Colorado State +215 at New Mexico
Won San Jose State, lost Colorado State. Still gain 0.69 units.
Now 39.5 / 45 / 1.5, -6.50 units
Merrimack +2.5 -115 at Fairleigh Dickinson (+110 moneyline ok, +2 -110 ok)
Appalachian State +250 at Marshall - FIRST HALF ONLY - 0.5 UNIT PICK
Appalachian State +9.5 -103 at Marshall - FULL GAME - 0.5 UNIT PICK
Middle Tennessee +2 at Charlotte (+1.5 ok)
0-3 on Thursday. Ouch.
Now 39.5 / 48 / 1.5, -9.50 units
Today:
Loyola Chicago -8 vs George Washington
Lost outright.
My 4th loss in a row, dropping me to 39.5 / 49 / 1.5, -10.50 units
NCCAB
Bellarmine -2.5 -106 at North Alabama
Also bet Bethune Cookman -2 at Florida A&M which I forgot to post here, but posted on my other site.
Won both.
Now 41.5 / 49 / 1.5, -8.62 units
FYI, last time I forgot to post it here (but posted on other site), I lost, and I counted it in my record as a loss.
Texas Tech +100 vs Kansas
Mississippi +10.5 at Alabama
Lost them both. Texas Tech blew a late comeback.
Now 41.5 / 51 / 1.5, -10.62 units
Today:
Long Island +8.5 at Central Connecticut
Lost Long Island.
One more:
Loyola Marymount -110 vs BYU
