BOB DANCER Intentionally leaves $3,000 on slot during restroom break - Guess what happens?

In this weeks “Gambling with an Edge” podcast, Bob Dancer claims he INTENTIONALLY left $3,000 on a machine while he left to use the restroom. He didn’t want to give up the machine, so apparently he got the bright idea to leave his credits on there.

Guess what happen? Yup, while he was in the restroom someone cashed out his ticket and bounced.

It gets worse folks…
HE DIDNT REPORT IT!

I don’t understand how someone doesn’t report this even if it was an hour later, but since it was likely within 1 min, how do you not report it? Yes, most likely the thief went straight and cashed it. However you never know. If it was a newbie maybe he thought, “I will come back later and cash it”, not knowing they can be tracked and voided.

My guess is that he was doing something nefarious. Maybe he was 86ed already or likly multicarding.

He should have reported it. Chances are, the Thief was STUPID enough to still be in the Casino gambling with the stolen money. A high roller was gambling on a slot and suddenly had to use bathroom really badly. He went to the bathroom and was on the toilet when he realized in horror he'd just left $1,000 unattended in a Slot. He finished and raced back to the slot and it was GONE. He understandably reported it to Casino Staff. The Casino Staff checked the cameras and they traced it to some IDIOT Woman who stole it and was sitting in another Slot, gambling with his stolen money instead of cashing it in and running out the door with the cash. High Roller and Casino Staff confronted thief, and she claimed that the money she was playing with was money she came in with. Casino Staff was like,"Ma'am we caught you on camera stealing his $1,000 voucher. Please give him his money back. High Roller was like,"You've been caught stealing MY money and I want it back." She was forced to cash out and give him the voucher. Whatever money she lost was given back to him in free play and she was banned for life from that Casino. Bob should have reported the theft. Money most likely would have been returned to him and thief banned for life from that Casino.

I have a friend that hit a handpay at Pepp/Reno. He had a ticket in the machine with a balance around $600. He took the handpay then got up and walked. A few minutes later he snapped to it and went back to the machine. His money was gone.

He notified security and they traced it down on surveillance film. The thief grabbed the ticket, quickly hit a cashout kiosk, then quickly walked out the door.

Security said if the guy ever returned to the casino they would detain him and charge him with theft. That's been several years ago and my friend has never heard a word from Pepp security about it.

Chances are, the Thief NEVER came back to the Casino after stealing $600 out of a Slot machine. You'd have to be a real idiot to come back to a Casino that you stole $600 from. A smart idea would have been to take the thief's picture from Surveillance and put it in OMN(The database that warns Casinos about trespassed Gamblers , and Card Counters, forgot the exact Abbreviation) and have the Thief being put on a "This guy's a Thief," Watchlist so that other Casinos will be wary about letting him in.

At least this thief was smarter(Cashed stolen ticket at kiosk and ran out front door) than the IDIOT who stayed in the Casino playing with the stolen TITO.

Just listened to it. Something odd about that situation. Dancer isn't telling the "whole" story. You could tell by that short abrupt "no" when Munchkin asked if he reported it.

I did find Munchkins comments about team play and players ripping off or skimming a re-affirmation of why I have never wanted to or accepted offers to play on a team. Even if there is no skimming, as a solo player of many years who knows and experiences the many severe swing associated with card counting, just a "normal" bad variance" swing and you are going to suspect someone of skimming and stealing. That is human nature.

I have partnered with 2 people on blackjack play, my late partner and my brother. I really have to know and trust someone to consider that. I have partnered with, or played with another AP and his team on some not blackjack plays a bit last year. I assume he trusted me. But I don't think I would do that on a more permanent basis. I am just an old school, solo, do my thing type of player.

There are more than one surveillance database networks that Casinos subscribe to. I think you meant OSN (Oregon Surveillance Network), which started out as strictly a subscription service for Indian Casinos in the NW part of the country, but quickly expanded no non-Indian casinos.

OSN got a foothold in Vegas after Griffin shutdown after Grosjean won a lawsuit forcing them into bankruptcy. Griffin never completely shutdown though, although their presence in Vegas is greatly diminished from what it was. Of the three, OSN is the one I have had the most trouble with.

Literally everyone i know listens to this show weekly who’s into gambling. There are multiple college gambling clubs / recruiting houses that listen to this.

I would say 30k is low.

More fraudulent queers who don’t do shit in casinos making up bs.

Seed, you may be right. I based that estimate off their YouTube traffic alone which is very low. If they are at 30k or more, their YouTube traffic is less than 5% of this. Most their listeners must come from other platforms.

Thank you PostiveVariance. And here in lies the problem. It isn't what people believe or don't believe. It is that they are no longer willing to be honest about these things. It is now about whether you like this or that person, including things that have nothing to do with gambling like their sexuality and political views. At that point you demonize people that you don't like something about and that includes lying about them and not being honest. When that happens a forum is no longer a gambling related forum, it is a troll forum with a little bit of gambling content. On this forum we passed that a long time ago.

There has always been a few members that were only interested in this kind of trolling. People like a coach belly and Singer, Ozzy, and a few others, but now you have known AP's, respected AP's, just not being honest because they either don't like something about someone, or think it is funny and/or entertaining to troll and be dishonest.

And as for the 100k a year, I am sorry I ever shared that information. At a time that there were books, movies and documentaries, showing or claiming players could win, 5-6 hundred K, even a million a year, I wanted to share my experiences of what a mid-level card counter playing mid stakes with a primary goal of longevity could really reasonably make. For me that was about 75-80K a year from blackjack and another 20k plus doing a little bit supplementary AP stuff.

That 75-80k was an average. I had years were I made and shared 125k and 141K just from card counting and other years where I made 28k and 14K (covid year from card counting). Anyone that thinks I would be on a forum making up earnings of 14K and 28k has lost their mind. I just shared some of the way it worked, at least for me. But if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't bother.

I do believe Gambling With an Edge could have 30,000 listeners.

I could also believe GWAE's listener count was once 30,000, but is lower today.

I don't believe Rob Singer ever made money with the double up bug.

I believe GWAE had a much larger audience when they had guest that were of good quality on a regular basis. The problem is, you eventually run out of quality quest that are willing to appear on the show.

I have a hard time believing they get 30k views for shows, such as when the “Tax Guy” is on, or Bob Nersesian, and the “Mail Bag” with stupid questions. As far as the tax guy - Most AP either DON’T pay taxes or massively under report their actual income. There have been some really good shows over the years.

Security sees the transaction start to finish. At least at this point he knows who the loser is that stole the money, as well as being able to enter the ticket number to void the ticket.

Retail stores have had this technology for at least 15 years. A situation: Customer goes to management and says he gave the clerk a $100 but was only given change for a $20. The manager then scans the customers receipt on his phone and he then is able to view the transaction start to finish, or hit “payment”, and the transaction switches to the overhead view to see the bill the customer gave the clerk. So within 30 seconds of the customer approaching the manager walking the store - he knows wether to pay the customer or realize he is full of Shit.

If the situation goes absolutely PERFECT, the ticket can be voided in less than 2 minutes from realizing the ticket was stolen. But as most of you guys know- Casino employees are shit, so the length of time will vary. If this is all done quickly enough, I put a 20% chance of getting the ticket voided in time.

He lost $600 in EV by not reporting.

You basically nailed it here. Mickey, Rob Reitzen and some other GWAE guests are great, but now there are usually much longer dry spells between high quality guests. Now they have flashback episodes where they simply repeat an earlier podcast like they did a couple of weeks back. And of course more mail bag episodes. Bob's mental decline has probably hurt the shows' ability to acquire high quality guests.

From what I've read if ZK is skinny then that was in his favor. It's usually not the fat people that win the eating contests. They have a layer of fat around their stomach that prevents it from stretching real big. A person with no fat around their stomach doesn't have that problem.

It is much less about what the holiday or event is and more that it brings an extra 50% or more of people from an ordinary weekend.

Mid January to mid March are full of these weekend "opportunities", with 5 or 6 within an 8 week period, starting with Martin Luther King weekend, Superbowl Weekend, Valantines Day (should it fall on or close to a weekend), Presidents Day weekend, First weekend of March Madness (thursday-sunday), and St Patrick's Day. More often than not St Partricks Day coincides with that 4 day March Madness weekend. If you are doing something that crowded conditions benefit you or throw cover to you, this is a peak time of year.

So a couple of months ago I was with my wife at a local casino here in California. I just recently introduced her to Video Poker while playing some casino Free Play with her...

We were having fun playing different slots and stuff, and I said I wanted to play a little video poker... We had a slot ticket for $160 and went to find a machine. I saw a machine I liked and sat down at it... My wife said "that is a slot machine not a poker game" and I said, no it has slots on it too but see press here and its slots." Then she said she wanted to do something else, so we got up and went to the high limit area where the machine I normally play is.

We get there and I'm like "where is the ticket." So we ran back to the video poker machine that had the slot game on it and it showed it was cashed out for $167.50 and I was like, I must have put the ticket in the machine, then you asked me about why it was a slot and I didn't even realize it and then we left, someone must have played a hand and cashed out or put money in and then cashed out...

So I went to a slot person and gave them the machine number of the slot machine we put the ticket in and left...

Long story short, half hour later they came up to me and said "Hold out your hand" and they paid me $160 and said "We found the person, they knew what they did and we were able to recover the funds."

If they actually recovered the funds from the person I don't know, but they claim they were able to track the funds from the slot ticket that machine printed with the $167.50, found where that ticket was inserted and recovered the funds...

So yeah, if I was able to recover $160, what kind of AP's are these that they would just like that kind of money go away?

I think others have said this too, but I suspect Bob just took the lump and didn't want to draw any attention to himself or his play. He may very well have called security in the past for leaving a video poker ticket. I've heard him say several times that his action is barely tolerated at a lot of places, so he must have figured the 3k was not worth the scrutiny.
