Wizard outting AP plays.

(I initially posted this in another thread but decided it needs its own space)

Wizard writes reviews of different games and bets available on different game. And continuing to do so, I believe was part of his agreement to continue on after the sale. What I don't understand is why he needs to out advantage plays when doing this, which he frequently does.

Nothing good can come of that. You aren't helping "gamblers" if that play will be pulled because you have alerted the game makers and casino industry to these vulnerabilities. They have people in their employ that are supposed to find such vulnerabilities. It shouldn't be Wizard doing that for them and for free. It it just an ego thing that Mike does this.... "hey look what I found that no one elese has yet". :confused:

Today mike exposed a vulnerability to an electronic game he saw at G2E, that hasn't even hit the casino floor yet. So they can now change it before it ever goes public. :confused:

I don't play baccarat so there was little chance I would have discovered this and played it unless someone directly lead me to it, but I just don't get this. Why does Shackleford do this? There are times I think he is actually out to sabatoge APs.

I am not trying to attack Mike here or piss off his friends, that I speak with on forums. But it is really hard for me to see these actions as "neutral", MrV.

If he was actually working for a casino (or consulting) that would be one thing. At least he would be being paid for his actions. But it doesn't appear to be the case in this or most of these incidents. It does appear he just wants to say "hey look what I found" and especially if he has no intention of playing what he has found.:confused:

Full discloure: I remain a little biased about this because Wizard did this with a play (a side bet) my brother and I were playing in Colorado a few years back. For no apparent reason he all of the sudden announced this play, how to beat it and what it was worth. Almost immediately the casinos involved cut the amount players could wager on this side bet to 25% of what it was. There was still an advantage but not enough for me to continue to wander around Colorado sleeping in motels to play it. My brother stayed on playing it until they finally pulled the plug entirely a few weeks later.

But I just get the feeling that this Colorado play, probably the play he revealed today that isn't even on the casino floor yet and several others that he has revealed are situations where Mike decides he is not interested in playing that, so it is like "fuck those that are". The Plaza VP promotion was another. He revealed that when he decided he wasn't interested in participating, like the day before the promotion.

He runs a forum populated by some AP's. He has personal friends that are APs. And yet, he does this shit. I just don't get the guy. And I do like him. I just don't get him.

Why would UnKewlJ object to the Wizard's researching and talking about plays Wizard does not do himself? UNKewlJ has done that sort of thing the entire time he's been visible on the 'net!

It makes almost no difference to people to non-APs and only makes APs stronger. To be a successful AP, metaphorically you must do 10 things right and only 9 means failure. Just because someone has a recipe for Blueberry bread doesn't mean we won't choke eating it and spit it out. It's one thing you learn as an AP, others are so inferior to you, they will most likely fail under pressure.

This is true for a lot of the more complicated AP. For example if you gave someone step by step extremely detailed instructions on exactly how to M.C. most people either still wouldn’t understand it or would understand it but be too lazy to actually do it.

On the other hand telling someone how to play bubble games, many will understand it, many would do it, although I still think a significant percentage of people still wouldn’t understand it, or would be too lazy to do it.

There's a ton of shit on the internet about advantage plays. Shack's new book, Gambling 102, has a section on slots.

There was some discussion on GWAE about Wiz outing plays. They pretty much thought that the cat is out of the bag so Wiz may as well do his thing.

Thanks but is this what KJ was referring to? I assumed it was something recent.

I get that Mike writes reviews of new games and side bets. I would even be ok, with him vaguely hinting at some way to beat it. But nothing good can come from when he spells it out step by step.

I go back to and am still holding a bit of a grudge about the Colorado blackjack play he outed that my brother and I were working. Mike's wording was something like "I waited a couple weeks because players were playing this, but now....." And boom, almost immediately the amount you could bet on the side bet was reduced 75%, making it not worth the effort for most of us.

And then there was the Plaza VP promotion. I wasn't going to play it so it didn't affect me. But the day before the promotion, Mike decided he wouldn't bother with it and posted step by step how to play it to earn $100+ an hour. And guess what? The top machines were pulled from the promotion.

It just feels like if he decides he isn't going to play something he says "fuck you to those that are". I think that is small of him.

IF Mdawg was doing something to play with an advantage, and not the stupid "bet into streaks" and "win because of a large bankroll", it would make sense that over time, losses are recovered and you go on to even higher totals.

THAT is the way advantage play and variance works. But this guy, every single time he reports a loss (which is rare), he immediately offsets it with a bigger win within 1or 2 days. THAT is NOT the way variance works. :rolleyes: But it does make for a funny story. :cool:

Other than writing about Banking slots(who isn't?) what plays has he outed in the last 4 years?

KJ should provide some details on his Colorado blackjack play. There may be some inaccuracies in the story he posted here.

There are so many people trying their hand at AP now. It hardly matters what one person does. There are a only a handful of things left worth protecting. But even those could be outed at anytime by someone that wants to seek attention instead of just keeping their mouth shut and taking the money.

This is one of the stupider things you say and repeat. I am sure you have heard me say, it isn't that hard to figure out who knows what they are talking about and who is just talking. Part of that is just the general knowledge. And then there is the math. Does the math work. Does it match the way things actually work? In other words, is somebody claiming to spread $100-$5000 at double deck blackjack for 10 hours? Because that is NOT how things work, so that statement exposes a person. (long before Wizard stepped in and said that is NOT how things work).

And the final way is does the persons basic story and detail change over time? Think about Singer claiming he played his own progression system (complete with special plays) for 10 years to the tune of over a million dollars and then changing that to 4 years and less money, to make room (timeline) for a whole new claim, the double up bug. THAT is a person's story changing! Of course the other really good example is you posting results for 7 straight months totaling over 500k in wins, and then saying wizard and you went over your records and you are about even. These are a person's story changing and huge red flags.

You have never seen that with me. My story and any details I have shared about my blackjack play and experiences never change. You can ask me something about an experience I posted years ago, and my answer will be the same as when I first posted it. And the reason is because what I share about my blackjack experiences is true and there is no extra bullshit to remember.

Some are things learned from players on forums, some from private communications with players sharing things, they didn't want to share on forums, and some from my own experiences, good old fashion trial and error.

EVERY blackjack card counter learned from books, other players and their own experiences and some combination of the 3, so these statements are just stupidity. they really are. They are trolls and freaks grasping at straw in the hopes of discrediting me. Just dumb. And you can tell how desperate you are by the really stupid lies, not just lies, but really stupid lies that everyone knows are lies that you come up with and repeat. You've mentioned this many times.

Perhaps players who aggressively exit tables, playing only short sessions, unrated, so not to be detected as a counter, don't have the opportunity to observe 10-hour sessions in the high-limit rooms.

For your enlightenment, here is how things work...

A player draws a $35K marker at a $100min DD Blackjack table.

He plays, betting anywhere from the table min to the table max.

During a nearly 10 hour session, he fluctuates between being about even, or maybe up or down a little.

Near the end of the session he catches a hot streak, and begins to bet at or near the table max.

The player finds himself ahead by a substantial sum, with the lion's share of the winning coming towards the end of the session, and then he leaves.

An observer, who had been at the table, comments that there were long periods when the subject player was winning nearly every single hand, and some winning hands came while betting the table max.

It doesn't always work out that way, or even close.

But this time, it did, because that is how things work.

Truth be told...it happens regularly.

So why do you do this? Why do you defend these claims from people like this that aren't true and aren't the way things work? Is it just a troll thing, or are you a complete ploppy, degen gambler type, that wants to believe in this kind of nonsense?

You are correct that I don't play high limit rooms. I actually am betting levels during busier times on the main floor, that I could be playing high limit rooms if I wanted. But high limit rooms come with many more eyes on the table, pit and surveillance. That is why almost no real card counters plays high limit rooms.

You are also correct that if some high roller was randomly spreading, not spreading with the count, that he would be welcome to play and could possible get lucky and win a streak of his bigger wagers and win 60k. But you can be sure that an evaluation will have been done early on, which showed him NOT moving money with the count, which is why he would be welcome to play.

AND this is not what Mdawg claims. If you read his posts and you seem to, he references card counting all the time, saying things about betting larger with the advantage. Some times he uses odd terminology like "jamming up his bets with the advantage". At that level of play, especially in a high limit room with all those eyes on the game, and especially a double deck game, an evaluation would be ordered almost as soon as a player starts varying wagers. And there is almost nothing a player can do,...no cover that will hide the fact that the average bet at advantageous counts is larger than at neutral or negative counts. Maybe extensive cover, betting high in negative counts could disguise this, but then the player is giving away all his slim advantage. Cover just doesn't work with the computerized evaluation.

Mdawgs claims are just not the way things work, no matter how much you would like to believe it. Nobody is allowing that kind of spread with card counting. No pits folks are patting a constantly winning player on the back telling him "he is the best". Pit folks have to answer for these situations. Yhey could lose their jobs, allowing what Mdawg claims. Even Shackleford weighed in on this particular claim saying that is not how it works. Why do you think Mdawg stopped mentioning it.

And if you are wondering how I know about high limit rooms and how they work, since I choose to avoid them, I network with other players and have friends that work the pits. Friends I talk to about these things. This is what I do for a living. I make it my business to know these things.

Here is information I have shared before but will do so again. There are basically two ways to play blackjack at an advantage, two plans. One is slash and burn where a player travels all around the country (or world) playing the large number of casinos, wearing out his welcome and moves on. Think KC and the inside the edge documentary. Within somewhere between 6-18 months these players have burned themselves out of everywhere. Maybe shorter now with technology working against them. Their card counting careers basically over. Maybe they write a book, or make a documentary or run a boot camp. Maybe they can play recreationally a little during crowded times at reduced stakes (from their peak). But their days of making real money from blackjack card counting is over.

The second way is something I specialize in. I developed a plan and tweeked it as I have gone. There are 5 keey components.

1) play stakes that are better tolerated. That even a decent win, no one really need answer for.

2) short sessions, exiting after showing maxbet rather than retreat to smaller wager. This eliminates one of the bigger 'tells' of a card counter and ties in nicely with short sessions.

3) Spread both ways so as to somewhat hide your spread or make it look smaller. Your neutral wager should not be your smallest wager. This will make your spread appear smaller and they will have to see both a negative count and maxbet count in the same shoe of shuffle of cards to see entire spread. There is a cost to this but it is worth that cost. And this is done before an evaluation. You can't trick the computerized evaluation, but you may be able to buy a little time before the evaluation is ordered.

4) Play card counter basic strategy or at least a small number of strategy changes. Players playing hands differently is another big tell of a card counter. You want to avoid that, even at the small cost of doing so.

5) large rotation of games. You can't do this if you have 1 or 2 local casinos. A couple dozen to 30 is a good number so that you aren't too regular. I actually have less than that playing my current style, but many are large strip casinos with multiple pits (especially on weekends) so that basically counts as multiple casinos.

These things are how you achieve longevity. And Mdawgs story now 5 years in, is him claiming longevity. But the things he says and claims, are not how it works. No one is patting you on the back welcoming you like he wants people to believe. No one is looking the other way, when you spread with the count. No one is saying "ah shucks, good for you", when you win 60k and it could cost them their job if it is determined they allowed a card counter.

In this town a player at any level has to work to achieve longevity. And there are still backoffs, barring's, trespasses along the way along with other countermeasures like No mail. Where are Mdawgs backoffs barings, trespasses and other counter measures that he would have if he was a real winning player? So far the only mention has been that he talked his way out of a previous trespass or barring. Another BS story that defies how things work. :rolleyes:

This is fantasy nonsense. It is not how things work. This guy is writing some kind of fiction story and that is all. Even Mdawgs protector Shackleford has now said that at least a couple times. So again, why do you, play these games coach belly?

It occurs regularly...and of course it is tolerated.

But anyway, moving along in the interest of time, because I will be heading out shortly, this is what Wizard wrote on August 13 about this particular situation and claim. Mdawgs comments in italic. Wizard response bolded for distinction.

Now, at this particular casino, every single (500) in the tray wasn't a fortune. But it was a lot. This wasn't one of the majors.

But what's funny is that afterwards, I ran into one of the players who had been at my table, who was surprised that I hadn't cleared many times what I cleared, as in emptied out at least all the 1000 and many of 5000 chips too, because this player mentioned that if I had played flat out there were long periods when I was winning every single hand. But, I didn't look at it that way, I was pressing only when I saw the edge.

But still, to go into a casino, declare a lofty goal, and meet it...pretty nice.

It doesn't always work out that way, or even close. But this time, it did.

That said, this story I find hard to believe. A 50 to 1 spread in a double deck game, while counting? As a counter for 37 years now (man, I'm old), this already seems ridiculous. The only way it might be allowed was if the counter was a bad counter, which does happen.

If you were betting up to $5,000, I would expect wins to be paid in yellows, assuming that is as high as the chips went. To pay in ten purples when yellows are in the rack also doesn't seem believable.

Let's pay close attention to this part.

The sequence of the most recent cards? This would seem to say you're either shuffle tracking or (must restrain myself here) have a baccarat-player like belief that the cards run in patterns. Which is it?

Finally the part about the rack not being refilled doesn't seem realistic. Maybe I could see this in a jurisdiction where it's illegal to back off counters. However, in Vegas, they either want your action or they don't. I will admit I've never played at a level where I was any threat to clean out the rack. At the level you claim to play, I don't see casinos using passive aggressive tactics like this. If they didn't want your action, they would just get of you and then put you in OSN or whatever database of cheats and advantage players casinos are using these days.

Here is what I am aware of and I have never wanted to out you in case this is really what you were successfully doing. But I am 100% sure it is not real now, so... Behind the scenes you claim you are shuffle-tracking. Right? You have publicly claimed you have total recall of the cards, ala rainman and you use this to shuffletrack.

Here is the problem. Shuffle-tracking is not new. I first heard about shuffle-tracking in the movie "21" about the MIT team from the early 90's. Arnold Snyder's Shuffle-track cookbook was published in 1994. So that is 30 years and really I have read accounts that the shuffle-tracking heyday was in the 70's. So it has been around 50-60 years same as card counting. Casino know all about shuffle-tracking. I am not saying it can't successfully be applied, but there aren't allowing a player to sit their 10 hours spreading like you claim when a winning hand is coming. A blind guy could spot that.

What makes your claim of 10 hours spreading $100-$5000 isn't whether you were card counting, or shuffle-tracking (as you claim in private) or almost any other thing you might have been doing to gain an advantage. It is that you think the casino and pit folks who's job is on the line is going to sit there and allow you to do that. And win 60K over 10 hours and win, day after day after day. THAT, my friend is the part that is NOT how Las Vegas and the casino industry works!!!!

Whatever you are doing to play with an advantage, casinos will not allow you to do it for long, even before they have figured out what it is. THAT is the way Las Vegas works.

So if you are rainman and shuffle tracking, you would almost immediately be in the same boat as card counters. Playing unrated, Playing short sessions, trying your best to hide and play under the radar. But you made up this story trying to claim that casino allow you to play with an advantage and welcome you. I guess thinking shuffle-tracking is something new, when the casino industry is just as familiar with shuffle-tracking as card counting. And it has been around just as long if not longer.

Do you get it now? It isn't specific to what you are claiming you do or change your story to doing this or that. What I am objecting to is this idea you are falsely claiming that casinos welcome advantage and winning play. Advantage play is something you have to work at. From what I remember Bob and Richard had Mike on the show before the promotion, Mike gave the numbers for $25 double double/double bonus I believe. Assuming $25 VP the value of the promo was around 42k give or take depending on your win goal.

There was discussion and perhaps a side bet related to the Revel not honoring the promo. Bob was on the yes Richard was on the no.

Fast forward: I believe there was an episode where they were talking about the promo after or during. Bob mentioned he wanted to get a gig there(probably the same type of Southpoint gig.) Bob kinda slipped up and said something to the effect that he told the Revel they were going to get crushed on the 100k LR Promo(I can't remember if he specifically told them about the $25 VP or not). Richard responded, "Why would you do that??" Bob said, something about him not wanting the casino to go bankrupt. You have to listen to the episode and get a feel for how it went down.

This is kind of typical. He went...and said he played MY strategy up thru the $25 machines, and probably overnight like I always did. Maybe that's why he didn't socialize and try to get noticed like the rest. He's a winning player and wanted nor had anything to do with forums, social media, or basically other players most of the time. People who "knew" him would know that.
