Las Vegas UNLV shooting

Again Las Vegas. :(

Beam Hall is the music center located at Maryland and Harmon.

I was over at UNLV this morning because the Rodeo is in town starting tomorrow at UNLV's Thomas and Mack center. I always like to get over to the campus and check out the horses. They transform the intermural fields just of Paradise (near Virgin casino) into a "farm town" hosting several hundred horses and their human companions. Luckily, my visit was complete, and I was back home before the shooting which was about half mile away from the west end of campus where the horses and Thomas and Mack center are located.

It is just ridiculous that these shooting are happening anywhere, but especially at schools and colleges, where young people are just seeking an education. What a fucking world we live in today. :mad:

In a country where homosexuality and transsexualism is pushed so hard that nearly 30 percent of 16 to 24 year olds Identify as such this is the consequence. To top it off weed is pushed on the same age group just as hard even tho all the studies clearly show that smoking weed causes psychology problems. No wonder aNearly all of these shooters are on SSRIs so confused and lost they don’t care. This doesn’t happen in the “world” I happens here. Somewhat related to the shooting yesterday, The National Rodeo Finals was scheduled to begin today. For those unfamiliar, the NRF spans 9 days over 2 weekends in December. It has always seemed kind of an odd fit for Las Vegas because these people are not really gamblers. But they do fill hotels rooms for more than a week during a traditionally slow time in early December. Just 2 days ago it was announced the rodeo had extended its relationship with Las Vegas through 2035.

The media says 340,000 come to Las Vegas for Rodeo week. That number seems high to me. If 15,000 people attend events each night that would be 150,000 and I would think much would be the same people over and over. You see minimal rodeo presence on the strip or at strip casinos. You will see much more Rodeo/cowboy type folks at the downtown casinos and Sam's Town, South Point and Silverton.

So most of the Rodeo happens on the campus of UNLV where the shooting occurred yesterday. The first 9 nights events at the Thomas and Mack center on campus and the horses and other animals housed on the intermural fields at UNLV. Because the campus is now closed through Sunday and on lockdown, with classes cancelled, no one is allowed in or out of the campus. How this will affect the rodeo is yet unclear. The first night's events tonight have been cancelled. A decision on the rest of the week is to be announced later this morning.

This obviously doesn't compare to the loss of lives suffered yesterday but is all just another casualty of this shooting on the campus of UNLV.

If take the actual difference in times, then it's [(10:37 + 14:42) - 2352] = (2519 - 2352) = 167 = (100 + 67) ---> 1/67.

Just back from a good walk around the UNLV campus. It is the first time I have been back over there for a walk since the day of the shooting in December. I did try to go to a 49ers practice at the back end of campus, but didn't really walk around.

Today is a holiday so no classes, just a few people walking, jogging, riding electric scooters. But there was a heavy UNLV police presence. Must have seen 8 or 9 walking or driving around, when usually you might see one.

I guess that is to be expected now, but sucks this is the world we now live in.

Not sure the definition of "wide area progressive"? Certainly sounds like a lot of casinos. I know some of the larger progressives in Vegas are tied to many different casinos. This was a small state back east with only a handful of casinos. And I have no idea what or how many it was tied to. I just don't care. Never did. That isn't my area of anything.

It's never allowed for various reasons. These are things like Megabucks and what not. Then you have the themed progressives which are the majority of all high progressive machines Wheel of Fortune and what not. The various themed games are not owned by the casino. They are all leased and the lessor handles the distribution on jackpot payments. There is no lease agreement out there on these multi property games that allows free play usage

What FraudJ claimed his partner hitting would be a total unicorn. Most likely it would have to be a property progressive dump from shutting down machines elsewhere on the property. Most properties would never do a 6 figure dump. It would be spread around. The highest I have ever seen into a single machine was around $40k unless a property was closing.

Then you would have some high limit reel machines that it would be possible to find a $50/spin for a six figure lick. But he already stated this was a small casino. You're not finding that there.
