This podcast from Feb 9, 2023 is about Frank B, a well known professional sports bettor. The interest for me was him divulging that some Vegas casinos are resetting advantage slots after ploppies get off them. In other words, they are wiping out the accumulation that occurs when moving towards a bonus or free spins.

Frank also gives great information on why some pro sports bettors are holing up in other states instead of Las Vegas. According to him there is greater opportunity in some of the states that have recently legalized sports betting.

Another thing I noticed was he referred to EV and "Value" and gave his advice on which software is best for calculating edges in sports betting.

Thanks for the reco Mickey. This puts the effective RTP below 85% for whichever machines are set at 85% at those properties which practice this as you know. And I guess wiping off this sort of equity is technically not illegal as it would be for progressive money meters (Must Hits, etc.).

Here's an interview with professional sports bettor, Bill Krakomberger, known as Spanky online. Spanky started out on advantage slots the same time I did about 27 years ago. He moved into sports betting and has become highly successful but still won't pass up a machine in advantage mode on his way to the book.

Spanky's method is all high tech. He was running software in the late nineties and still does today. He says fuck opinions, he only cares about the stats/numbers.

He tells an interesting story about Billy Walters. How he figured out Walters would bet a line in Asia then bet that line at the Mirage. He said he could tell when a line move in Asia was because of a Walters bet. Then he would immediately bet the Mirage line because he knew Walters had a damn good reason for betting that line. So when Spanky bet the Mirage line they would move it effectively cutting Walters off. Walters wound up calling Spanky and telling him to quit blowing up the line at Mirage.

Everybody refers to "Value."

Nothing like hearing from a "well-known professional sports bettor" on GWAE. Not quite as good as hearing from Fezzik on the LVA forums, but in the vicinity.

Mickey, there is an entire world you know absolutely nothing about. Do you really think any sports book manager is concerned with anything or anybody on GWAE?

The point is, can you imagine me quoting from a "well-known machine player?" to mickey? C'mon, man. That would be ridiculous, given mickey's status.

People at GWAE, and the LVA in general, are a step above civilians when it comes to sports betting, but they are not top tier. At all. The closest would have been Fezzik, but as a contest player, not a gambler.

You never answered how one can bet straight sports bets (with no gimmicks) and be profitable without using the concept of EV as laid out in the paper I posted.

Do you not think it is simple to be limited on a sports book? Do you really believe that doesn't happen to lots of sharp bettors who then give up or find beards? I'm not sure if these guys "strike fear" into sports books but yes, they're limited all the time because the book really doesn't want their action.

Let the rest of us know where we're living in a fantasy world vs you.

You're right. I had googled Krakomberger and got Spanky. Thought they were one and the same.

So redietz, are you on record saying Spanky doesn't know what he is doing and the books don't fear him?

2nd question, have you ever been aggressively limited or banned from any brick & mortor or online book? Are you good to go at, say, William Hill?

Ditz is right about one thing, though he says it very condescendingly. There is a whole world (professional sports betting) that we don't know anything about. But as you can see we aren't going to learn about it from mr. high and powerful. How's the weather up there, ditz?

Since ditz doesn't want to spill the beans....in this thread I'm taking a look at the sports betting world thru the lens of the internet. It should be fun.

Speaking of Jargon no one used the term Advantage Player back then. I don't think I heard that term until about 2012 not that it wasn't around prior, it just wasn't widely used. Perhaps, I wasn't really listening to shows or reading forums that much prior to that.

Regardless, I'm not sure how/when knowing the proper jargon helped make anyone money in professional gambling/Advantage Play.

Pretty sure I saw some of this in Oklahoma. Seems like a bad idea. The Piggies are usually pretty popular, but they were all at reset and no one was playing them.
