Changes to Mlife......this is what makes Vegas lose it's charm

I found this information on the Mlife website:

We've made a good thing even better. After listening to your feedback, we are making some exciting changes to M life, effective October 1st, 2012. Here's an overview:

Beauty in simplicity.
The rolling expiration date for tiers and Tier Credits will be replaced with one set expiration date per year - October 1. If you advance to a higher tier before that date, you'll enjoy those tier benefits for at least a year!

Earn more!
The higher your tier, the more points and Express Comps you will earn at all M life destinations. We have broken it down by the percentage of Bonus Points and Express Comps you earn as you reach each new Tier Level:
• Pearl - 10% Bonus
• Gold - 20% Bonus
• Platinum - 30% Bonus
• NOIR - 40% Bonus

The offer is everything.
We've revamped the program so we can extend more compelling offers to visit your favorite M life resort. This ensures you always get the best of Las Vegas. M life is the most rewarding program in the business...

Look at this link for the program changes.

You'll still earn 10 tier credits for every base point earned at M life destinations in Las Vegas, 2 tier credits for every base point earned at Beau Rivage or Gold Strike Tunica, and 1 tier credit for every base point earned at MGM Grand Detroit.

Continue to use Express Comps at M life destinations for hotel, dining, and entertainment - or save them for an exclusive M life Moment. Express Comps earning will be limited to $5,000. NOIR members may earn up to $10,000 in Express Comps. NOIR advancement will be by invitation.

NOW, I call this nickle and diming the customers. They are telling you that these changes were made to benefit the customer and they are the result of customer feedback. Now, get real!!!! Mlife is trying to sell us a story and tries to make us feel all peachy about it. I'm seriously considering to give them no play at my next visit, take all the comps they offer me and take my business elsewhere. Tell me what you think....

All casinos love to brag about the changes they make. Those marketing folks have to do something for their salaries. Seldom are those changes good for the customers. However, I wouldn't worry about it. They are all alike.

Caesars/Harrahs has always had a January 1st start/end date for accumulating points toward your tier score or level. But comp points do not expire as long as you earn 1 point in a six month period.

At Rincon the higher your tier score the more you earn on certain bonus days for comps. These are their "multiplier days." I don't know of any other Caesars casino that has multiplier days for earning comps.

At Caesars and the LV properties you accumulate comp points faster than you do at Rincon because Rincon gives cash back and free play while the Vegas casinos do not.

In your own case, Vegas_lover, how do the changes hurt you?

For example, at slots, until October 1st, you earn one point for every $2 coin in, starting October 1st this will be one point for every $3 coin in. Basically this is a HUGE change since room comps are based on the number of points and your theo per trip. In other words they tighten up the whole program and tell you this will benefit you. Yeah right...click the link and see the specific changes in the program and you'll see what I'm talking about.

If they did downgrade the value of slot play for comps then you have a legitimate beef. We've all seen comp program benefits cut. I wonder if Bob Dancer is still getting half of his income from cash back?

I know that the Caesars/Harrahs LV properties all eliminated their cash back programs about five or six years ago.

When I want to play video poker I am better off playing at Rincon than in Vegas because the comp points can still be used in LV and Rincon gives cash back. However, the monthly free play I get from Caesars in LV is worth more than what I get at Rincon.

I think the bottom line is you have to look and judge each offer you get to see what makes sense for you and what doesn't. I have an offer for $115 free play at Rincon tomorrow, Tuesday. It's about $50 just for the gas round trip. So I'll pass.

It's not if...........they did! Or, are going to. And with the fact that your tier credits expire after a year, it basically means you have to put alot more cash through the machine to keep the same tier status with all the benefits coming with that status. I'm platinum now but doubt if I will continue to remain platinum since I'm not willing to chase comps. That's what they're asking you to do.

With Caesars your tier score points expire, and you have that tier score that you earned for one more year. If you don't play at all in the next year you drop back to the lowest level.

If you are 7 Stars today at Caesars because you earned 100,000 points, you will be 7 Stars again for the 2013 fiscal year (it goes April to April). But in 2013 if you have zero play, then starting April 2014 you will drop to "gold" which is the lowest level, just as if you walked in to a Caesars property for the first time.

Do you object to that?

I might be different, but I don't worry what the casinos do with their tiers and points accumulation methods. If I don't like it I just go somewhere else. If I got that message from MLife as a platinum player and it was a belt-tightening thing that took away from me, the customer, I'd go there and run through my comps without giving them any further play, and start at a different casino/slot program.

I had this happen to me a few years back. I was @ Diamond level prior to my accident which kept me completely out of any casino (and one less week long trip to LV during the year) for almost 7 months. I could not make up for it in time.

Do I object that? No, why would I? If I would start playing at CET at this point, this would be the rules of the program. Now, if by the end of 2013 CET would tell me my tier credits would expire after 6 months and they would also tell me it would benefit me and this change was a result of customer feedback, I would object very strongly. See the difference?
