Actually, mickey, fuck yes. I just got off the phone with the former CFO of a pharmaceutical firm. He called to ask, given my journalism background, what I thought of Woodward sitting on the tapes this long. My answer was that I could not in good conscience, in Woodward's shoes, sat on them longer than the March tapes. I would have felt both a national obligation and an obligation in terms of saving lives to have gone full blown public at that time.
In fact, to take it a step further, I think Bernstein knew about the tapes. That's why he was so damning of Trump in tone during his interviews without adding any additional insider information. So I think to the degree that Bernstein knew what was on the tapes, he also had an obligation to make them public even though they were Woodward's property.
Sometimes, mickey, you simply don't know what you're talking about. That's increasingly the case. And before spouting off, if you want the email of the former CFO to discuss my conversation with him today, PM me and I will send it along. But agree to email him and report the conversation here.
