Does your tier status make you feel important ?

Here's something new to chew on instead of the same old drivel....

Is your tier score important to you??? Do you flaunt your status when in the casino or making reservations ??

Me not one bit in fact only reason I've been keeping it is to keep my kids happy...

All my "free rooms,tickets,events,etc" are meaningless to me.. I gamble for the enjoyment looking to "beat the odds" that's it...

Both my kids out of college & the house... So we travel on these junkets to meet our friends, make new ones...

Now I must say did my "status" help me do somethings I'd have never done before? Sure..

I'd say my highlight was getting to hang out with the Doobie Brothers, Patrick Simmons most of all in fact we text each other once a week....

Getting tickets to a baseball,football, game I did that my entire work career...

A "free" meal sometimes would have been cheaper if I'd bought it myself instead of playing for it....

I hate long lines.

Yes the only reason I wanted a card with a tier above the base is so I don't have to stand in lines. None of the rest of it means anything to me. I don't do cruises (11 years on ships in the Navy will cure you of wanting to go on a cruise), I don't drink much so lounges don't work for me. We generally only visit Vegas once or twice a year and and mainly build the trip around food and shows. Sometimes I will take the free tickets to an event if they are offered, but only if I'm going to be there anyway.

As to food and shows, I will use the accumulated points to pay for those, but would never chase points to pay for them. For as you said, sometimes the meal and shows are cheaper if you just pay for them.

I get a call from a Host every couple of months asking if there is anything they can do, I told them last month I don't need a host, I make my reservations online and book my restaurant visits via open-table, if there is a show I want to see I book it online and get the seats I want when I want them. If I have any special requests while visiting, such as when we took our mother in law for a visit, I call the reservations people and have found them extremely helpful.

I just don't want to stand in a line for check in or if we hit a buffet.

I feel quite a few in here think their casino status means something... To me what people think of me from the "outside" world means more... In fact 80% of my associates have no idea I play in casinos

The "status" is worthless but the benefits are real and worthwhile. However, it's a fringe that's not important to me. I don't know of any significant "line privileges" at Bellagio. And if there's a line at the cage at Caesars I let the old folks and the cute girls go ahead of me. I did use the Seven Stars line at the Caesars buffet. When I picked up my tickets for Celine on New Years Eve there was no Seven Stars line.

Why do you say the benefits are real and worthwhile?? We both know how much coin in we have to put through to earn seven stars.. With no promise we will have more money in our pockets.. Now if we didn't gamble and wanted a nice weekend what would it have cost you out of pocket as just a normal person...
To me the benefits are worthless, to my kids they are priceless

I agree with those above who really only care about avoiding lines. I do not like to wait in line for anything, and that is the primary benefit for me. To tie this in to another thread, I also never wanted to flaunt my status in any way and dress in a pretty nondescript way that belies the amount of my bankroll and Buy-In.

As my dad used to say, "those that talk the most, usually have the least."

Everyone laughs at how I dress, I'm known for wearing flip flops 12 months a year... Along with shorts... On NYE I had on button down shirt,slacks, suit coat and flip flops no socks... Broke up our entire table...

The benefits I use are the free room. I like the incidentals including the anniversary dinner. I sometimes travel to Vegas on short notice and I have never had a problem getting a room even when I call in the middle of the night. That's my main benefit.

Other than that -- the only offers I get are based on my play and since my play is not that big my offers are not substantial. My latest offers have a value of $300ish.

I don't care about status, and I don't think most other posters do, either.

For me, here is the order of benefits I most enjoy about Seven Stars (from most important on down):

1) Free rooms (especially during WSOP time)
2) Heavily discounted NCL cruise
3) Annual trip with the $1200 airfare and $500 folio credit
4) Avoidance of lines
5) $500 worth of meal certificates
6) Special exceptions/privileges they will give you for being a Seven Stars member

Dan, you mean that shirt I saw you wearing with "*******, baby!" on it was your girlfriend's?

I think everyone needs to be subtle about their status. The word "baby" is very helpful in this regard. Like, if you're sitting there watching Cook E. Jarr in the Paris lounge and want a free drink, you stand up and say, "I'm going to the Diamond Lounge, baby." Then, when you return to the show, before you sit down, lift your glass to the rest of the room and say, "Diamond Lounge, baby." Or if you get sideways stares as you bypass a buffet line, just say, "Seven Stars, baby," preferably while holding another drink from the Diamond Lounge, which they will allow into the buffet. Or if you're wearing a suit coat with flip flops, preferably while holding another drink from the Diamond Lounge, well, you get the picture....

What's funny is that the employees at Caesars and the other casinos are trained to make 7 Stars players feel important.

During the Great Gift Wrap Up I played a little craps over at Paris where they had a $5 table going and I bought in for $40 -- and of course I handed in my card. The floor person who swiped my card gave me a big smile and said something like "we are always happy to see 7 Stars players here." And I'm thinking -- I only bought in for $40 -- wow.

Then, when the stick man changes, (I was standing next to the stick), the stick man whispers to the incoming stick man, "player right is a 7 Stars." And the new stick man immediately looks at me and says "welcome to Paris." I smiled and said thank you. And the new stick man continues, "it's a pleasure to have a 7 Stars player here." Again -- I'm amazed.

And at Caesars where I regularly play -- when I give my card in now (and this wasn't the case a year ago) one of the dealers will comment about me being 7 Stars.

So clearly the employees are being told to make a big deal about it.

I wonder how people would feel if they announced your presence with the amount you had lost the previous year. My mother had an annoying habit in using the price of something as an adjective. It was never simply, "the lamp." It was, "the $85 lamp." I wonder how Seven Stars would feel if they were announced the same way, with an adjective, "Always a pleasure to have a minus $13,750 Seven Stars here, sir."

Bit of a different social spin, eh?

Then you'd get a real feel for how rare it is to actually win any money a given year as a Seven Star.

Dan would get low murmurs and boos, "Pleasure to have a minus $1,243 Seven Stars here, Mr. Druff."

The slot marketers have a term for the penny slots that have a high frequency of payouts that are less than what the spin cost. It's called LDW -- Losing Disguised as Winning. I think the table games personnel who acknowledge Seven Stars are engaged in some social LDW.

Like you say, not waiting in line is nice- kinda makes a lot of the other guests mad when you bypass them and on days I have a lot of time, I just get in the regular line. I did have one incident where the free buffet had a time limit and I came after 3 pm and they told my wife and I we couldn't use our coupon so I was leaving and kinda upset when my host spotted us. He's an unusually down to earth guy and asked why we were leaving. I told him-he got upset because I didn't contact him and took care of the matter-then later downloaded free play.
There is a difference in casinos, though. As a diamond, the "friendly" thing gets annoying, but as a Landshark (higher tier level) at another casino, only the servers interrupt you-and in a pleasant way.
