No, you haven't been able to tell for the 35 years I've been visiting Las Vegas. Most dress like college students.
I was once "fooled" by a hooker at the Center Stage restaurant at The Plaza.
I was in my 20s at the time.
Very attractive (but not trashy) 25-ish girl was sitting alone at the Center Stage restaurant (which was at the top of the Plaza), and kept staring at me. She kept looking at me, and not my male companion. However, I was the one who had just been playing high stakes blackjack, and I was also talking about my big blackjack bets, so I thought perhaps she was just a gold digger who had overheard that.
I kept considering going over to talk to her, but the thought of her being a hooker entered my mind, so I didn't.
I found it strange that such a pretty girl was dining alone. When a waiter said that he knew her, she told him, "No, you must be mistaken, I haven't been here before", which I also found weird.
She also sat there for awhile after finishing her meal.
When my friend got up to go to the bathroom, she walked REALLY slowly past my table, clearly wanting me to say something. I didn't, and she kept walking.
I wondered if I screwed up, and blew the chance for a weekend fling with a really hot chick in Vegas.
I posted the story on a blackjack forum, and one member offered to go to Center Stage and see if she was there on the same day of the week.
Sure enough, there she was, sitting alone again. When the ceiling light show on Fremont started (which you can see from the restaurant clearly), she didn't even glance up once, making it clear that she was a regular.
So obviously this was a hooker. I felt better.
Girls often spread themselves at a nice bar, sitting every second or third seat so as to provide a comfortable approach protocol for you and broach protocol for them. If you wander into one of the circular bars and women are sitting alone every second or third seat rather than next to each other, welcome to Las Vegas.

The pulling up years old threads to comment and the general Vegas and machine AP comments remind me of JimmyFocker from WoV.
There's even more hookers than you think, if you count the ones that play the long game. Over a couple of months, I became friendly with one of the casino employees, asked her out, we had a few drinks, ended up in my room, she said "I need to get paid before we go any further".
Really strange to me that she would jeopardize her job like that, but maybe that sort of thing is considered acceptable here?
What type of employee and what casino?
Rewards center. Would rather not say which casino, as there's only one young/attractive/female employee there AFAIK, so would be pretty easy to deduce.
Umm, may be hitting up a bunch of slot clubs in the next few days.
