Paganettis Bans Dancer from Machine Play in Henderson

I'm not sure if this is relevant to the discussion of whether certain casinos ban APs, but the owner of the Rainbow in Henderson, who also owns the Peppermill in Reno, pulled the plug on Dancer playing at the Rainbow. According to the latest Dancer blog, other APs were banned, also. The Rainbow then removed their best paying machines.

I vaguely recall posts here debating whether management at the Peppermill had any concerns with advantage players. I wasn't sure if it was the Reno Peppermill that was being discussed. If so, this provides some additional context.

The owner is Billy Paganetti. The "s" was a typo in the heading.

Is this another case of the greedy casinos putting on a promotion to get the easily won AP money in the door? I read Part 1 of his Gaming dispute with Pepp. The world grows smaller once again on Bob. He lost Mlife years ago. He's lost Boyd and Stations. Dotty's is no longer exploitable. I explained not long ago that Pepp doesn't trespass you. They just pull your card benefits and Bob confirmed it in this article.

There's no doubt they won a bundle from AP's, only they didn't know what they were doing with their slot club. And don't forget--you get nothing here besides the constant brand-building words of Dancer, who needs public perception of that brand to be favorable in order to keep his multiple paying jobs that fund his gambling habit.

You also don't see him bragging about winning, which he ALWAYS does in his articles. Combine that with his petty complaint over just $1200 and the pieces all start coming together....to those with open minds. The guy blabs about being this cunning businessman and professional gambler, yet by going to the NGC over a small issue like this with a casino chain that had some machines he likes to play, has the stench of someone crying over losing money.

I'll check with my friend up in Reno, who is in charge of all slots at all Peppermill casinos. I expect nobody will like the real story because it may not fit their ap agenda.

I'm not a Dancer fan, but any issue like this is fodder for multiple blog articles, so that's motive enough. That's why I'll try to get trespassed at MGM or Luxor. It's for the discussion material, not the handcuffing, although I like S&M as much as the next guy.

I just got off the phone. No, those machines have not been removed, and no, these "AP's" were not banished. The denominations were changed on several machines. And with all mickey's blather about "ap's getting 86'd, trespassed etc.", he forgets that all that casino has to do is cut back slot club benefits on certain games and the perceived "ap problem" is resolved.

I understand the propensity of some to keep trying to build up the phony "ap-mystique" but the only thing happening here is a single dispute. And from what I'm hearing, it may be time-related.

Paganettj is not the sole owner or even the majority owner. Yes, Mickey does not have all the facts even though as usual, he wants everybody to believe he does. And Dancer has not told all that he knows....yet. He may never do that.

On vpFREE he was just blasted for ruining another play. His articles reach thousands of people. Everyone in the video poker word reads him. If he were lying about anything he would be exposed by other AP's. But you can trash him all you want because you have no credibility, repeat, no credibility, in the video poker world. Yeah, this was weird on Rob's part. Dancer writes a high-profile two-part article where he gives names and is in an adversarial position with both Paganetti and the GCB. Dancer has to get every micro-detail correct, or he's gonna get ripped. And Part Two has yet to be posted.

But Rob gets on the phone and reports that everything in the Dancer Part One is wrong. I guess Rob must know what happens in Part Two, eh?

If I were trying to explain this, well, I'd have a real tough time. But let me try. When Rob says, "I just got off the phone," he's referring to a take out order from Pizza Hut. Everything that follows is just his musings. He used to have a name for his speculations posited as facts. Oh well, to summarize. Rob called Pizza Hut. That was the phone call. See, he never actually said that he spoke to anybody at the Peppermill. Or in Reno. Or not at Pizza Hut. Then he gave his opinion, not based on anything, on everything else. The opinion, unfortunately, was demonstrably and weirdly wrong.

Sounds about right.

Copying and pasting the vpFree report, and whatever corroborating responses, would be helpful in examining the validity of the report.

Or post a link to the vpFree forum, and we can look into it for ourselves.

Okay, so back on topic.

I read Dancer's blog.

For those who didn't, basically he played at the Rainbow in Henderson, which is owned by Peppermill.

Dancer accumulated $2400 in freeplay, left the property for a month, and came back to find his card was disabled.

Upon further inquiry, he found out that he was banned from the property. He spoke to the owner of the joint on the phone (!!), who ended up offering him $1200 cash for it.

Dancer claimed he deserved the full $2400, because he was erroneously told by a Players Club worker that already-accumulated points could be cashed out at full value once he reached the Chairman level.

Surprisingly, Dancer took this one to Gaming, supposedly the first time he's ever done that.

I find it odd that he's picking this particular time to run to Gaming.

Let's look at the facts here:

1) The casino offered to give him the cash value (50%) of the points.

2) Dancer only believed he was owed $2400 cash because of incorrect info a boothling gave him -- something he could never prove.

3) Dancer feels he should be able to transfer the $2400 freeplay to someone else to run, which is laughable, and there is no precedent for this being allowed, as far as I know.

I'm guessing the NGCB rejects Dancer's request, since it appears he can get the same $1200 in cash that he could if he were still allowed on property. The only thing he's restricted from doing is using those points for freeplay.

Had they simply confiscated all of the points, then Dancer would have a good case.

50% of the points is way under the value Dancer should be owed, considering I don't know of any video poker game that only pays back 50%. He should be owed whatever the value is of the points times the payout of whatever game he earned them on.

$2400 of free play strikes me as a small amount of money for Bob Dancer. Is this the same Bob Dancer who plays fifty play $5 video poker (50 X $25 per play) to win cars?

I don't know that $5 fifty-plays have ever existed. The most I've ever heard of him playing is $5 five-play which is $625 a hand. And that was a an MGM play where he was holding a .6% edge.

The dispute with Pepp is a freeroll since he is now banned from playing machines on their properties. And he was banned because he beat them.

The man wrote that he ate free breakfasts at hotels without having rooms there (not that there's anything wrong with that), so I can definitely see him doing this. Plus it's an excuse to wrangle with the control board, and that's worth a couple of columns.

Remember (if the idol-lovers here choose to)....Dancer got taken to the cleaners by the wife who hit "his" $400k royal for him, and he will never be able to retire where most people his age have done so for years. So if you can read between the lines, he's definitely a struggling, habitual gambler. $1200 may not seem a lot about some guy who talks big all the time, but if you connect the dots you can easily decipher why he does it.
