Thanks, I appreciate you taking a look! This one mostly focuses on the PredictIt binary betting markets, which are all over the place due to market inefficiency. I didn't take a look at any of the other books yet, but last time I checked, they had lines if you wanted the YES for removal, but not if you wanted the NO. In that previous article, I remarked that it should be pretty telling when a sports betting website is willing to fade the entire other side of the bet they are offering coming in. Even when Alabama plays some dramatically lesser school, you still get a Moneyline on Alabama, for instance, because it's not considered an absolute sure winner.
I don't even want to get into the craziness that is the modern Democratic party, but I agree with you 100%! There was a time that I would have been considered ridiculously liberal and now I find myself a moderate who sides more with Libertarians than anything. I don't think I have changed fundamentally, though.
As far as the actual conduct vis-a-vis Ukraine, I would be surprised to find that these sorts of things are particularly unusual. More than that, I read the transcript of the call that was finally released and I really don't see anything blatant. I don't know anything about stealing voters' decisions, but any such talk is sophistry (in my opinion) anyway, but only because there would have to be a non-zero chance of the Senate voting to remove him for it to even matter.
I definitely agree when it comes to the vocal minority of the Democratic party. My main hope is that if this kind of shit keeps up (on both sides) it might be what we need to finally see a meaningful move to third parties. I guess it's somewhat unlikely, though, as it seems that most people are more inclined to take one absolute side or the other right now. The Impeachment question, for example, I think fewer than ten percent of all polled Americans, in most polls, lack a hard stance on it. It seems that the proceedings did nothing but to confirm (to them) the beliefs (both sides) they already had...and that the people who are not taking a hard stance haven't been swayed from that position, either.
There's no way I could see a seriously aisle-crossing Biden-Pence ticket, especially given that the latter is Trump's Vice-President. When it comes to the potential for a bipartisan ticket, I guess I could maybe see something like Biden-Kasich, but that's an extreme long shot. If Biden were to win the nomination, I think he would be hard pressed not to pick someone to the left of himself.

Impeachment itself, that is to say just the bringing of charges is a big deal. And because of that it should not be able to be done by one party that has the majority. The threshold for bringing charges should be the same as it is for removal, some sort of super majority. 67% seems adequate. An argument could be made for even higher, maybe 75%. But I don't think it rises to the level of removal from office. The reason for that contradiction that I believe it abuse of power, but not impeachable, is that I think this kind of things, abusing one's authority for personal gain, or maybe for the benefit of a friend or family member, or even a big money donor, occurs all the time in our government, in every administration.
Trumps big crime may be that he is stupid, completely unknowledgeable about how government works, and surrounded himself with mostly people that are afraid to tell him NO (a bunch of yes men), so he got caught.
So I don't think there should have been an impeachment vote and if there was, it should have needed some sort of super-majority, true bi-partisan support, which these charges didn't have. But since that is not the current rules and the current rules say simple majority for an impeachment vote and then a trial in the senate requiring a super majority, we are where we are.
BUT, a trial in the Senate has to be a real trial. If there are witnesses, they HAVE to be called. I mean you wouldn't have a murder trial and know that there were several witnesses that saw what occurred and not have them be called. So why would we allow that for a trial on removing the most powerful position in the world. Witnesses are NOT optional. So John Bolton and Mick Mulvaney have to be called as witnesses.
An acquittal without calling the witnesses is as big a joke as one single party bringing charges without true bi-partisan super majority. We are well on our way down the path of destroying our own form of government here. :( And both sides are to blame.

I agree with that (supermajority) 100%, but without it, we would all be missing out on Masterpiece Theatre. Had I been old enough, I would have also felt the same way when it came to Clinton's impeachment...which, by the way, I think one could at least make a better argument for than the Impeachment of Trump. I also think that was reflected in the voting, however, as we saw quite a few Democrats cross the aisle to vote with the Republicans on that one.
There's also the obvious fact that both Impeachments had more to do with pandering to the extreme ends of either party (or to a particular district---especially in the case of aisle crossers) than anything else. That's why i call it Masterpiece Theatre, quite frankly, I don't think many people TRULY believe that what Trump did was all that bad and I would also like to think that fewer people still believe that this is not something that occurs pretty regularly.
I also agree with letting the voters decide, which they will be doing next year. Again, I think most of this is just trying to pander to the more extreme voters of their own parties more than anything. They don't really care about Independents who will likely just pick whatever they consider the lesser of the two evils because of the fact that no third-party candidate has a prayer. It all comes down to riling up their own so they can turnout greater amounts of their own numbers.
An acquittal without calling the witnesses is no worse, in my opinion, that bringing forth the Impeachment on soft-ass evidence that (again, in my opinion) shouldn't even be suitable to drum up the charges in the first place.
