Apparently there was some incentive to save the comp for the later nights or they were swayed by the devious hotel staff to book this way. So the comped rooms were taken away and they just decided to leave and pay at another hotel. It was an extended trip, so these reservations were made last minute. Our local hosts couldn't do anything about it, was totally wrong. They made a big deal about playing very little on a night he had to pay for the room and used this logic for the comped nights. Maybe he would have been better off never using a card, but how would he think to predict they're going to be using hardball tactics.
As far as outside beverages, you're not getting onto the casino floor anywhere if you don't bring the same exact packaging they sell at the bar. Maybe you can walk around the lobby, but expect resistance if it seems the beverages were not bought on property, or at least could have been.
If you remember the beat down in AC, those people were being kicked out of their rooms, a scary event for many people out of town with possibly no extra credit on credit cards beyond what was spent obtaining rooms. In that case, they had flights leaving a few days later and they had nowhere safe to stay until then.
