APs Wrongly Prosecuted - Keno - They're Suing Harrah's

I just reread this very bias article and noticed the 5 gamblers first lawsuit against the casinos was thrown out by a judge. Why doesn’t anybody mention this? This is the second lawsuit these gamblers are filing. Who knows if this one will be thrown out too? It’s still early since it was just filed.

The point being it’s now one to one. The prosecution had their case thrown out and the defendants first lawsuit against the casino got thrown out. This could go on for a while.

It seems like there is a huge double standard here. Remember, the casino hasn’t been shown to do anything illegal. What about a person or business is innocent until proven guilty standard? It doesn’t look like this logic applies to casinos or law enforcement. People here are also accusing police on being on the take from casinos...again with no evidence.

Where did you come up with that conclusion Mickey? Please reread my posts. I never said hang the players. I said based on the very limited articles I’ve read about this case and their actions (which to me were how guilty people would act), I thought they were guilty. Others thought they were innocent based on nothing more than some judge threw out the case.

I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of the crowd who believe the gamblers were innocent. Again, their belief is mostly based on a judge who threw out the case. Well if that is your standard than you should believe the casino is innocent too, because a judge threw out the first lawsuit the gamblers filed against the casinos. Who knows what will happen with their second lawsuit? It could get thrown out too. Or the casino might pay these people off to make them go away. We’ll see.

We’re all entitled to our opinion. You believe the reverse based on no evidence. I based my belief on the prosecutors spending a year gathering evidence to bring a case against them...and they acted in a guilty mannner. They acted the way a bank robber would act if they robbed a bank. A prosecutor wouldn’t have brought charges against them if they didn’t have something on them. Yes, the judge threw it out, but we don’t know why. If he’s like most judges, he probably threw it out because the prosecutors got their evidence in a wrong way.

Yes, the gamblers countersued when the case was thrown out. This doesn’t prove anything other than they saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. I think most people would do this, regardless if they were guilty or innocent.

So the question is what did they do to warrant any other problem or lawsuit or investigatoon? I don't think they did anything wrong.

They didn't alter the payouts on the machine, so why should they be prosecuted?

The casino is required to file CTRs and not the players. And, by the way, even with $3,000 payouts there is still an obligation on CASINOS to monitor cash transactions.

If the casino tipped off police to stop the vehicle and harass the driver that is indeed wrong but I'm not exactly sure what crime that is but I'm sure it's a violation of something.

The first lawsuit was thrown out, according to the article, on a question of JURISDICTION and had nothing to do with the merits of the lawsuit.

That's where it all stands as I see it.

I’m sure you think you made a very good point, but I have no idea what it was. But if it makes you feel any better, good job.

From the beginning of this thread, I’ve been very clear on what I believe on this case. It’s a free world. You’re entitled to your opinion too. Sometimes it won’t agree with other people. That’s okay.

Since no one has spent any time looking into this case, none of us know why happened. It’s all speculation.

Alan, a good reasoned reply, but you're only addressing one aspect of what they were charged with. They were also charged for “manipulating keno machines”. I have no idea what that means but it’s hard for me to believe the prosecutors didn’t have some evidence they were doing something illegal.

A casino or prosecutor is not going to charge someone for just winning a lot of money. That makes no sense.

Did they manipulate the machines? Did they change the paytables?

The only thing I read is that they played machines with better paytables. I saw nothing that they tampered with the devices.
