Colorado Springs Stupid Reporting

I was just listening to radio reports about the "active shooter situation" in Colorado Springs and I can't believe how stupid the reporting was.

The reporter was talking about how police might be talking over cell phones with three people caught in a bathroom closet. WHY would a reporter reveal this when the gunman might also have access to a radio and could hear the report?

Why tip off the gunman that their are civilians trapped in the building with him? If those civilians were safely hiding before -- they aren't safe now.

I also heard that the question about people being in the building with the gunman was asked at a police news conference. That was the wrong question to ask and thankfully the police spokesperson gave the correct answer in an active situation -- the spokesperson said "we don't know."
