Casino Unintended Consequences of Covid19

You're stuck $350 with the meter at $490 and closing in on that must hit $500 or you've got 300 free spins left on one of the older Konamis that takes forever to spin off the free games, or you are stuck $220 on a Buffalo Diamond and are chasing a 75c denom 3x with 172 banked games on it and you here these words over the casino intercom "The casino will be closing in 10 minutes at which time all games will be powered down - please cash out your vouchers and redeem them at the kiosk or cage otherwise your vouchers will be forfeit"

Just a few of the crazy scenarios that could crop up when a business that isn't supposed to close closes.

I was going to start a thread about this idea of turning off every other machine. If the business hasn't already slowed this seems like a horrible idea. The casinos I've been in lately are quite full on Friday/Saturday nights. If there were half as many machines, everyone would be walking around rubbing against each other, face to face.

My assumption is business has already slowed, but lets be honest. Casinos don't give a shit about people and are desperate to keep their doors open (for good reason).

I was thinking about this too and for this reason figured I would think real hard before taking any large coin in plays.....

Years ago the Bellagio had a power outage that closed their doors for a few days.

In 1996 I remember the whole west coast power grid went out for 15 hours or so and it hit us in Vegas.
I have been on stand alone progressives that I just got too tired to hold the machine.

My point is you can't worry about outside factors that you can't control.
You just want to always be in a positive situation.
Although your example isn't ideal or enjoyable... you should be able to fade a 350 dollar loss.

I suppose I have a recent example that isn't the same but could be considered similar.
I paid an attorney on March 12th 2020 a retainer fee of 2000 dollars to draw up some paperwork.
On Monday the 17th they tell me they are not accepting any person to person meetings.
They haven't started any of my paperwork.
I need to actually sign some of these papers in person as they need an original signature.
Even if I can get everything in order I suspect all State Government offices will be closing soon.
I am not sure if they will let me have a refund or force me to wait till this whole thing blows over.

You're right Monet, in the long run it does not make any difference if you are betting a proper fraction of your bankroll, which you should be doing (and of course always betting with a player edge). With casinos closing all over the United States as a result of the Corona virus scare, players will get exposed to mid-play interruptions (due to casino closure) that only very seasoned machine players such as yourself have witnessed due to machine power outages for other reasons than casino closure such as those that you describe. Stuff less seasoned players would have never witnessed otherwise. We've all seen situations where machines lock-up (bill validator tilt and on and on and on) and we can't get on them, but I am just talking about (as you know) actually being on a fully functional machine with no problems and getting kicked off it by the casino. It's kind of like if you are at the arcade and having the best game of your life on a pinball machine and then it is closing time and the bank of machines is turned off suddenly (power strip that affects all games on the bank) wiping out your grand champion score in progress.

Off-topic from this thread but: Then there is the whole other can of worms where some arbitrary, seemingly innocuous casino decision gets made and game(s) get removed that may have been the lifeblood of some semi-homeless or homeless person(s). Like a new manager (wanting to make it look like they're doing something) deciding that the shop (or an area of the shop) needs to have new carpet - the machine(s) get removed and never put back (replaced with something else, but maybe empty space) once the new carpet is in or a glitched machine that was improperly configured (+EV multi-hand VP paytable, progressive meter goes up way to fast,progressive reset way to high, etc.) by a slot tech is re-started once it is put back on the floor with the new carpet and it is now properly configured. Basically destroying someones' means of income due to a new carpet swap-out.

Monet, I'm sorry to hear about the lawyer shit and hope it gets resolved.

Of course players were crushing it.
Management didn't like it and the guy in charge came over and told everyone they are barred from the property and they are shutting down the machines/promotion.

Basically the same thing happened back when the Orleans had a bunch of 50 cent loose deuce machines and other playable games.
They went so far to not only throw players out but they confiscated all their points and it was a pain to get them back from my understanding.
This is one reason why I always stress to cash out or use your points asap... don't be the guy with a million points lol.

They sit down and you see their total points over a million lol.

If you wanted all that free play you had to go and take it off every day for months.

When they turned the machines back on the payouts were upside down.
The game used to be a loser but when they reset it the game was 105%+ Payback.
It lasted for 3 weeks.
I was playing it when I heard the manager tell another manager that the game was a 5% winner and needed to be fixed.
I left soon after that and the next day it was fixed.
Not a bad 3 weeks though playing quarters netting close to 10 grand.

Yes that's a great point - the reverse can happen and a re-installed machine can then be +EV where it was -EV before the re-install (I will try to hit casinos when they first re-open after the virus scare - if they re-open;probably plenty of gems such as rebooted golden egypts with a coin on each column).
Never got the shoulder tap for machine play - just for the felt (which is why I started to do machine play). Although one time, I was asked by a security guard with nothing better to do at a dead shop if I needed any help finding a game when he observed me rifling through UX screens (my bad - should have been more alert). Triple double bonus was not installed on that UX (I'm sure it was part of the software library for that UX though) so I told him I was looking for it. He looked for it (just looking at the main screen - not changing denoms or anything) on that machine and couldn't find it. So I said thanks. Then I got up, cashed out and left.

That was a really interesting post Monet. The board that I mostly post on seems most interested in $1 to $5 denomination slot players who post pictures of jackpots and suites. If anyone there knows what you know, they aren't talking.

Things have changed.
MC has most of the really good slot/vulture information.
Tableplay seems to have a great handle on the math of plays.
I could explain it further but between my posts here and at WoV I have pretty much exhausted the information I want to share.
I gave up detailed information about how to get anyone started at low levels.
The problem is the landscape is always changing.
So what worked a few months ago may not work now.
However, the premise or fundamentals never change.
You just have to find other ways and IMO you have to be willing to get in the mire.
If you want to live a more upstanding lifestyle I certainly do not recommend spending time in any Casino.
It is pretty amazing how many honest APs are on all gambling forums.
I am a firm believer that most of us will end up in the same place though so it is all pretty much in vain.

These are the two most recent I hit sorta back to back in 2 days.
I had a bit of a dry spell before and after.

I got some slack posting this game on this site from Mendleson's Son but I keep playing it.
Doesn't make sense not to since its been about 3 years for me now and its about a 1% cash winner.
Not to mention comps which are nice to me.
I like to play the 2 dollar for the most part but I do dip into the 5 dollar game as well.
The problem is that I don't want to lock the machine up too much so I stick to 2 dollars.

They also have a couple reel machines I play when they are break even or better which I believe gives me some cover.
I don't worry too much about this place though as the heat is non existent or it seems that way for a very long time.

Only an idiot would play a game that could go up to like 600 games KNOWING a Casino is going to close down soon because of the Covid-19 thing. I could understand if you absolutely did not know that a Casino was closing soon like you saw that a Casino was open and you went in, played China Shores and got 600 games and are on game 200 when you hear "This Casino is closing at 6 PM due to the Covid-19. All machines will power down and all Viuchers will not be validated after 6 PM. " You look at your cellphone. It is 5:50. You literally start having a panic attack and scream,"Nooooo!" As you realize you are FUCKED and didn't even know that the Casino was on the soon to be closed list when you won those 600 games(This could have been a original Twilight Zone episode had China Shores slot existed back then ;) .... But I think in this scenario, ypu can just hit "Balance of Fortune," and take whatever money you already won plus take whatever value the Cash value from the BOF gives you. Actually getting the voucher to a TITO machine or a Cashier Cage would be the real challenge as a LOT of people would swarming all TITO and Cashier's Cage locatiobs within those 10 minutes.

IIRC you cannot do this once the free spins have started to peel off except in the case where, during your free spins you earn more, at which time you can take the "Balance of Fortune" for the free spins earned during free spins once the free spins earned during the base game are exhausted. As you say, a player familiar with these Konamis would know that they cannot be spun off with speed pressing - but a person who was new to the games might not realize it, thinking that they could spin them of quickly by power spinning.

Monet, with the B&M casino closures, I've been spending more time looking into online shit again. Since you like BPD, here is a 99.7% paytable (the 10 coin full house does the trick as you know) I found (and available with multi-hand) at an online casino that uses Betsoft software for their BPD game (and which takes US player action). Wizard of Odds lists Betsoft casinos (reviews) along with which ones accept US players (and so do a lot of other online casino listing sites). I'm using this BPD game to grind away on a free chip play. If you have interest in online shit, I'll post more specifics.
