Folks, you have to fit the proto-typical casino player, e.g. lose at a rate of 8% to 12% of your coin-in for slot and lose at 4% to 8% if you play VBJ or VP (W2G wins are handled separately). These numbers are based on information for the casinos in my neck of the woods.
When you get flagged, e.g. put on a list, the casino will audit you and look at what games you are playing, how much money you are “losing”, etc. You have to lose at a rate that fools the casinos.
Every few trips, I have to lose $300 to $600 playing non-bonus games as camouflage. It’s expensive, but it part of my longevity in casinos. It’s a cost of doing business.
I remembered one night, I got to a casino late and there were way too many hustlers. I went to the back and played for 4 hours on a penny machine and lost over $300. A few weeks later, the casino 86’ed a few hustlers and I was safe since I was not being recorded (I was in the back far away from these people). Casinos paint with a broad brush and it’s guilt by association. You talk to the wrong person(s) and next thing you know, you will be approached by security holding a clipboard. It can be scary. And we have some hustlers who hate competition so they will rat you out.
In the casinos I hustled, they run reports or audits, etc. They know what you are doing. Security and surveillance see us checking machines (we ARE ON FILM!!). You being consistently profitable, you play bonus machines (based on coin in), and are observed constantly checking machines (or caught loitering ON FILM because you vulture) ... out you go.
I got my start in blackjack and I had good people teach me the rules: you cannot have 2 or more counters at the same table, you need to work on your act, you need to think about camouflage, you cannot act like a counter, etc.
PS If you abuse comps or hustle promo’s, you also get put on a list. Certain casinos will run background checks on you so you better have a good story.
