Email requests to verify information - Scam

Today I received two suspicious emails. The first was a request to verify my IRS Information. I know for a fact that the IRS does not send out emails like this so I didn't open it, marked it as spam, and killed the email.

The second email was a request to verify my PayPal Information. It was not from a PayPal email address and after getting the IRS I had my doubts. The PayPal request had a link that I did not open.

This looks to be the Internet scam of the day.
