Frank, here's the craps table at the Hacienda with the flat wall.

In Frank Scoblete's newest column he had a question about shooting at the table at the Hacienda Casino near Hoover Dam. When the table is not full, they keep all the players to one side, and one dealer runs the game, and a board is put about 2/3 down the table. This shortens the table but also creates a "dream situation" for a dice influencer because the "back wall" is flat.

I've heard from several players who have played there and I was told that no dice setting was allowed -- you had to pick 'em up and shoot 'em.

However, when I was there and we were shooting their video I asked the dealer at the table and she said players have set their dice without a problem with the casino.

So, if anyone has any updated information about whether or not dice setting is allowed, please post it.

Alan-aren't those still bumps on the wall or is it completely flat. That could take some practice because of the short table but I would love to take a shot at that.

At times some of our local casinos tried to disallow dice setting. An experienced player (or at least I can) should be able to set the dice quick enough to get away with it.

Those are the regular alligator bumps or diamonds, but the wall is flat. Besides the goal of dice influencing is a soft roll that comes to rest under the diamonds. I'm reading Frank's book The Virgin Kiss and part of the book gives an almost "roll by roll" account of "The Captain's" record roll in Atlantic City, and Frank describes the roll hitting at the bottom of the back wall. Whether or not it is true is another issue. Sharpshooter in his book also describes a shot for hitting under the diamonds, or just glancing off the diamonds. Since we were "working" when we were there, there was no chance for us to try it out.

No chips to hit on that end either--just need to clear the hard 4 and 10 which leaves plenty of room for the shot to the crease to avoid the bumps. I guess they must not be getting killed or they wouldn't do it. I assume they use only 1 or 2 dealers.

Many years ago we used to actually place our own hardway bets because they had a skeleton crew. What a joke that was.
